Speaking of Andrew Bird... This video makes my day EVERY time I watch it:
String-string-a-ding-ding!
Also, I got myself the perfect travel instrument, a Guitalele (Yamaha GL-1). (Which is a Guitar the size of a uke.) While checking reviews for it before buying, I came across this amazing video:

ARRRRGH! FRUSTRATION!
I ordered a piece of audio equipment from AVshop, an Amazon store thingy, which I got a while ago. (Amazing little headphone amp/DAC...) Everything was great except that the internal battery refused to charge. So I opted to make a return and exchange it for a working unit.
Posted my return last tuesday and after that everything's gone wrong... I got no reply from the seller about the replacement, despite sending several e-mails. The day before yesterday I sent an e-mail to another of their e-mail addresses. Yesterday I got a reply simply telling me that they had no idea what was going on but would look into it. Of course, they didn't bother with anything and didn't get back to me. Somewhere out there (most likely in the clutches of the worthless DHL) is my £100 package and NOBODY wants to tell me what's going on. GRRRRR!

Berlin summer is cold and rainy as it should be I was in Berlin in April, to get away from having to celebrate my birthday and back then it was lovely. But I guess I read somewhere that you have about the same weather that we get here (Göteborg, Sweden). It rains a lot of the time and somehow summer always disappears in a mixture of grey, rain, cold but sunny days and a FEW memorable warm ones. Anyhow, Prenzlauerberg & Friedrichshain was great and I almost felt like moving there for a while. If only I didn't get so homesick. For some reason I am in the middle of waiting for things right now. Waiting for some sign of summer weather, waiting for my boss to call me about a potential new job, waiting for no less then three things to arrive in the mail (WHY ARE THEY SO SLOW??!!). /Tommy

I am going to ressurect this thread simply to state the obvious: DOCTOR WHO IS AMAZING! The question is why it would have to take me so long to realise? I used to watch it sometimes as a kid. Back then they were mostly airing old Tom Baker-era episodes that were equally awful, funny and (as I remmber it) scary for a little kid. But not until a few months ago did I start watching the "new" series. I did however start with the Matt Smith episodes, which made sense at the moment and then went back to Eccleston's doctor (who, imo is one of the worst doctors I've seen...) and onward. Currently going to start season 4 and absolutely loving it. I'm having quite a bit of fun picking out famous cameo actors. Anybody else looking forward to the new season this fall? It's going to be sad to see Amy and Rory leave the show, but I guess it's time. As long as they don't plan on letting Matt Smith go after season 7... /t

I admit, I still haven't read the books. And right now I'm not so sure if the story interests me enough to have a go at the books. I'm making my way through Season 2 at the moment and every time I see Joeffrey I want to hit him or worse...^^ I'm right with you on this. I want to love the series (because what other epic fantasy with this kind of budget is there?), but I can't stand half of the characters and a lot of the time it's more of a medieval soap with explicit bits thrown in. The GOOD episodes however, are mostly really good. I haven't read the books, but I've read enough fantasy (if anybody's interested, I'll recommend THESE. The "Memory, Sorrow and Thorn" series is one of absolute favourites. Haven't read his other books, though.) through the years to know that I won't be getting enough out of these massive books to bother spending half a year on them. Still, good enough for a watch-through on TV. /t

That Andrew Bird album (Noble Beast) is really really great and you need to listen to the rest as well!
I've been listening to Tim Exile lately:

Lovely! I wonder what will be on it. An album full of acoustic versions of the singles, a bunch of unreleased songs or something completely new which is simply retrospective. I'm hoping for a mix of all three. /Tommy

Great website! I tried to create a similar discography a few years ago but, owning no scanner, I had to resort to digital photography which obviously isn't anywhere near as good. If you need any help with the more odd bits and pieces that you just might not have, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Keep up the good work! /Tommy

I'm going through a period of selling/throwing away old stuff I don't really use/like/need anymore and can relate to this. I'm having an awfully hard time getting rid of anything because everything I own makes me think about some part of my life, however little. I have a huge pile of CDs that I should get rid of, but can't because I just might want to relive that little part of my past. Then I think about it and realise that I no longer like or can relate to the actual music. And I need the money for other things... Oh, the conflict.
Anyhow...
Despite already owning at least one copy of all of these records, I'd really like some spare copies. Any thoughts on how much you'd like for the first three items on the list? I bet it would cost me an arm and both my legs, but no harm in asking, I suppose.

I felt I just had to throw in a few comments here... Firstly, miss Hazelwood, if you're feeling old, guess what kind of extinct animal I feel like!?! Back when I was a kid, I used to play my first computer games on my uncle's old ZX Spectrum (which was a computer with rubber keys, which had to be connected to a cassette player and TV to be able to load programs and games!), and then as my first computer, I got a Commodore 64. Secondly, I LOVE AND ADORE the Moomins since early childhood. Comet In Moominland is a book which I still put up there among my favourites. It also has amazing artwork by Tove Jansson herself. Guess where my avatar is from? Thirdly, I love nostalgia. Now and then I tend to check youtube for newly uploaded bits and pieces of childhood TV memories. Having cable TV and therefore getting the amazing "action figure" series of the 80's, like He-Man and Transformers made me learn english waaaay before I was even in school. I bet you "kids" don't remember THIS! OH! And if you want to see something outstanding, watch THIS charming Norwegian (with english dub) kid's movie, /Tommy

I'm usually really keen on doing these things, but despite the fact that music's more or less the most important thing in my life (second only to family etc), my recent mood swings have been keeping me from almost every type of creative outlet. But here it is! I'm linking to tracks on youtube for each album, in case anybody wants to hear. One of my "new" discoveries of 2011, which wasn't made until late last year: PJ Harvey - Let England Shake. I have been hearing so many good things about PJ for so many years, still not finding any of her albums that I actually like enough to listen to more than a couple of tracks. This one's been on repeat for a while now and it's great. The rough recordings, lyrical imagery and PJ's vocals... Wow! Austra - Feel It Break. Being an old Katie Stelmanis fan I was thrilled to hear about this new slightly more electronic version of her dramatic pop and since the album came out it's been the only one that's never left my mp3-player. Veronica Maggio - Satan I Gatan Is my Swedish "guilty pleasure" favourite of 2011. A simple, yet catchy and "real" album with a hit single that's ripped off an old The Strokes riff. ;D Jim Guthrie - The Ballad Of The Space Babies. One of the most amazing albums of 2011 (maybe even the last few years!) is Guthrie's soundtrack to the iPhone/iPad game Sword & Sworcery (GET IT, PLAY IT if you have either!) which was definitely the best game I played last year as well. Somehow it manages to combine the best bits of classic video game sounds with the music I'm currently into. For my last entry, I'm going to cheat slightly, with a bunch of EP's that when combined have more than enough songs to qualify as an album! Parenthetical Girls - Privilege, Pt. III & Pt. IV, Save Christmas, Demos For The Dreaming. Oh!, the drama, the lyrics, the synths, the Kate Bush Covers (that are sometimes actually better than the originals), the very limited edition vinyl-only EP:s (numbered with the band members' blood!). In my opinion one of the best and most underrated bands right now. Don't miss the video in the link above, it's a very special one. Actually, 2011 was a pretty good year, musically so it was hard to only pick five favourites, but I'll most likely mention all the others some other time.

2000 is quite a lot, considering it's a 7" single. Not that many people bother with buying physical copies of singles, these days. Especially since (I imagine) the b-sides are available digitally. Also, WITW is numbered, The Libertine isn't.

Hi! Can somebody tell me what is the CD case for the EP? I'm still waiting for the post, and i'm curious that what will be the case: digipack, cardsleeve, jewelcase or what? thanks! I got mine today (it's a digipak) and I LOOOOOOVE it. I definitely wouldn't mind if the next album sounds like Nemoralia and Pelicans. While I wait for that, I'll keep dancing around my living room to Time Of Year. And Together feels right at home with these songs. Love love love. /Tommy

I'd forgotten about ElfYourself! That was great! I hope you twittered a link to Patrick as well. Also, those mixtapes are sort of themed, so they're for different moods and contain a bunch of different genres, so I am not expecting anybody to like them all. But I believe that anybody on this forum could find at least a few good songs in there. /Tommy

But for anyone who's hungry for some goodies for you ears I give you these four (!) virtual mixtapes. Hope you enjoy, and a very early merry Christmas! ;D 1, 2, 3, 4/Tommy

Well it came in the post this morning. I'm juggling listening to it, getting dressed (it is Saturday), and looking after my kitten which has gone outside, but comes back every 5 minutes to make sure I'm still here. Of course the only 2 songs I recognise are Together and Jerusalem. Really need to sit down and listen to it properly. and find my PC to mp3 player cable. Like it so far. Congratulations! I've received the e-mail stating that it's been shipped, but it's not here yet. Waiting eagerly really makes the whole process of receiving, opening and listening/looking at the artwork so much more sweet. Also, your life seems like heaven. /Tommy

Clever idiots, though! They DO make a bit of extra money from the "shipping". I am quite sure that you'd have to order a bunch of (heavy or big) things before the actual shipping cost amounts to as much as you've paid. Unless you actually order only one item, then I suppose it just covers the basic shipping. I think we should start a "I hate Sandbag" thread if there isn't one. I feel bad for polluting every release thread with negative things about them. /Tommy
