i used to like Andy Williams. I bought one of his greatest hits albums when i was about seven. My father was so embarrassed.
i'm still a sucker for shitty ballads, like Born Free (but not the Andy William's version, the Roger Williams one)

When did Rhiman ever say she was a fan of 'indie' music? She likes Tatu for Christ's sake. I wouldn't be able to recognise a Smiths song if I heard one either, although granted I would probably have looked it up before posting about it. Hey...Tatu could be indie if they liked!! Haha. Yeah, sorry, i should have looked it up but i was 84% sure anyway, i just wanted to put a question mark by it so that if it was wrong, you guys wouldn't be at my throat like lions.

I want to know what I'll like in 5 years and what I will think of what I like now. I predict: enjoying industrial noise and other avant awfulness.

Ah, Rhiman, there you are wrong again - "indie," in the actual sense of the word means "independent." The Smiths were signed to an independent record label called Rough Trade Records, making them an indie band who played basically rock, pop, post-punk, whatever you want to call it. Indie bands can be of any genre as long as their music is produced through independent means.
Unless tATu were signed to an indie record label, no, they couldn't be indie.
There is no such genre as "indie," unless the word is followed by "pop" - indie pop is alive, kicking and knitting. "Indie" is generally just a term now used to apply to God-awful bands like The Klaxons or the Killers who are so "alternative" that it makes me puke.

Meh, I like The Killers and Klaxons, but I certainly wouldn't call them indie.

I will climb into my Music Elitist Hippy Van and drive to Dundee. Be at your door in two ticks, love.
You can shout things like, "I FUCKING LOVE JAMES BLUNT" and I'll shout "NAUGHTY GIRL!" It'll be one of those forbidden kinks things.

Blah... Josh was the one who claimed out of the blue that Rhiman liked indie music, when Rhiman had never mentioned anything about it before. She was just making a joke out of my frustrated reply - hence the double exclamation mark and 'Haha'. No one misused the word 'indie'. I'm sure Rhiman knows that 'indie' means a band is signed to an independent record label, she never said anything otherwise. There was really no need for all this.

Well, I apologise, but don't get your knickers in a twist. I didn't mean it in a patronising fashion, just as clarification.
