We thought that the soldier who was Rory was gonna be Captain John Barrowman. But ALAS, no such luck. CROSS FINGERS FOR HIM NEXT WEEK

Ahh clever! It panned out well and although there were some bits I didn't understand (River said she wouldn't exist, but still did??) most of it made sense. I LOVED the 'something old something new etc' bit, despite the 'borrowed' bit being thrown in a bit (had it being stolen ever been mentioned before?). But yeah! Rory and Amy are coooool.

Confusing timey wimey wibbly wobbly! I liked it, for once the finale wasn't sad! A bit disappointed but I don't know why, I thought when they were in the museum was confusing and went by so fast. But in the end I liked it because it didn't end with something sad.

I was a little disapointed (not England vs Germany levels of disapointed of course..) don't get me wrong it was entertaining and there was some great scenes in there; Matt Smith is a wonderful Doctor, more than a worthy successor to DT, but still not fully convinced Moffatt is RTD's equal. I guess the whole thing felt... like 45 five mintues of clever-clever timey wimey reset button pressing. This story made me like Rory again, melodramtic perhaps but I loved him as the mythical centurion who guarded Amy for two thousand years.. I was like "woah... semi-immortal shooty shooty Auton-Rory! This is creating quite an interesting character..." then it all get reset of course. I think Moffat had this tv tropes page clearly in mind tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/SugarWiki/CrowningMomentOfAwesome?from=Main.CrowningMomentOfAwesome when he wrote the scene of River Song making the Dalek beg for mercy! In fact I enjoyed all the characters, and how they sparked off each other.. the ending scene; Amy's imaginary friend turning up at her wedding was great, pure Drop Dead Fred! I'm really not sure why I was underwhelmed, maybe because the excellent first part raised my expectation levels too high maybe because I'm not use to slightly more understated finales from Who, maybe because it got darn flabby, fell over it's own self conscious cleverness and ended up not actually changing or revealling anything in a confused and anticlimactic final third? Anyway who knows! Congrats Smith, Gillan, Darvill and Kingston and onto to the future. Looks like Moffat has some long long terms plans in regards the "silence will fall" big bad and River...

Also... what's with River not only using Jack's time braclet thingy but coming out with his catchpharses ("that's when everything changes..")? Obviously she's not Jack, that would be ludicrious but.. can't be a coincidence surely? Probably a red-herring for the fans.

I guess the whole thing felt... like 45 five mintues of clever-clever timey wimey reset button pressing. Agreed. Although, again, I don't think anyone's ever as impressed by Moffatt's timey-wimey than Moffatt himself. There was too much: 'I'm doing this!!' 'Why??' 'Because if I enter my own time stream it'll be THE END OF THE WORLD, of course!!' 'Oh... that doesn't make any sense' 'No... shall we just run down corridors and talk really fast, then?' 'OCH AYE THE NOO!!' However, the last twenty minutes - something old, something new, then QUEEN RIVER turning up at the wedding - were it's saving grace. Bloody brilliant. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

My rankings for the whole series...
The Eleventh Hour- 7/10 (Doctor-meets-Amy parts= great. Plot, recycled bollocks)
The Beast Below- 4/10 This wasn't Doctor Who, this was Star Trek
Victory of the Daleks- 6/10 kind of got the boys own Biggles-esque WW2 adventure yarn concept.. didn't hate it as much as most fans, I actually LIKE the new Dalek design but I can't deny this was wafer thin and unsubstantial.
The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone- 8/10 loses big points cos I don't like how part of this handled the Weeping Angles (speaking though a proxy, generic-next-snappers not time transporters "killing nicely) but other wise an excellent atmospheric adventure with the archy stuffy very nicely tied in.
Vampires in Venice- 7/10 fun if generic romp, really starting to enjoy the actors/characters and their chemistry at this point.
Amy's Choice- 10/10 my favourite by a long way and the only s5 ep up there with my favourite new Who. Imaginative, twisty, great villian.. loved it.
The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood- 6/10 the first part was atmospheric and as with the Dalek unlike most fanboys I liked the new Silurians. Second part let it down badly though.. two many obvious tropes/cliches and flat writing.
Vincent and The Doctor- 8/10 Vincent bits where lovely and the difficult topic of mental illness handled well for in effect a kids show. The actual plot was tacked on and generic though.
The Lodger- 8/10 just a lot of fun
...and I'll mark The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang separately as 10/10 and 7/10 respectivley.

First series ending that didn't make me cry, possibly because it's actually the first one in which we've not had some kind of death/regeneration/companion leaving. One thing that did confuse me a little, didn't Amy touch her younger self at one point? Sure Rose did that in Series One and it caused some kind of paradox... Also I'm a bit surprised that Rory's come along again, it's harder to keep track of three people rather than two! But overall, definitely enjoyed it and the series as a whole, well done Matt Smith for settling into the role so well!

I've thought about this and came to the conclusion that the reapers must've already fallen to the cracks. Nobody has mentioned that this is the second time the Doctor has been responsible for the Big Bang and to be honest, as last time he did, the stories sucked, so hardly surprising.

So, has anyone seen the Christmas special? I was a bit bored and didn't understand what the whole thing with the fish was about.
Edit: My mom got me an Adipose stress toy for Xmas. AAAAAH! It's so cute! And squishy, and smells a bit weird. I think she got my brother a sonic screwdriver, and I'm waiting for my Doctor Who calendar.

oh it was cool... what an epic opener! Moffat just gets you every time, after the first episode I was utterly confused...and now even though some things are resolved I'm still like what the heck? what is he going to do about Amy's child etc. does he imply that the child is half-Timelord (if it can sort of regenerate, or what else was it they showed us?) or at least has some Timelord ehm "magic"? and if so how did that happen? (don't we all think the same now, even though it's pretty unlikely? ) personally I think River snogging the Dr (finally) was the most fun bit (I could just imagine the anti-Moffat-River-Dr-Who-fans to gasp and turn green ;D) also looking forward to see Bonneville as a pirate! yay!
