heyyyy old thread I found a sweet band: www.myspace.com/rubblebucketI see a lot of descriptions of them as being a "mix of Bjork and James Brown" which is strangely sounding pretty accurate to me... I love their song Don't Exaggerate. I may see them on Friday.

Probably already recommended over here, but just in case: www.myspace.com/wearevillagersSaw him live, supporting Owen Pallett in August; kind of reminded me of a young Conor Oberst. Y'all should definitely check him out

I saw Noblesse Oblige without knowing anything about them before and WOAH! all that immense primal energy!DOUBLEWOAH! Both me and my friend with whom I went to the gig with were blown away and couldn't believe how different they sound on record. I hope they'll come back to London soon!
I shall be back with some recommendations at some point, promise.

I'm really intrigued by the Noblesse love. I sort of know someone that does a (just online I think) music magazine as a side-project while at Uni, and one of the bands she interviewed was them and she said they were really rude and she didn't even want to type up the interview.
eta: obviously I know talent isn't related to personality, but you usually get a fair assessment of both in recommendation and discussion in my experience.

Oh really? Wow...when we got told we were doing that gig with them I was terrified of meeting them...I mean, I am a 16 yr old girl who knows very little about the music world and all that and they're all tall and professional looking...especially Valorie, but when we got in and met them she came straight up to us and was all nice and friendly and stuff...and seems really different to how she is onstage. And then there was Sebastian, and I've honestly never experienced a person like that before...he seemed kind of shy, as soon as they came in he came straight up to us and shook all our hands and introduced himself to each of us individually, and then when we were going to leave he was carrying a drumkit over to the other side of the hall, and he suddenly put it down and ran from one side of the room to the other to open a door for me...I think they're both a little strange in different ways...but nice people...although to be honest I'm still not sure about Valorie, haha. When she's not engaged in conversation she's possibly the most intimidating woman I've ever seen. She's also twice my height. Yeah...I talked to Sebastian a lot more...and I do get the impression that when it comes to interviews Valorie has a lot more input...so it doesn't seem entirely unplausible that they didn't come across as very nice... Scarlet Soho however, are genuinely lovely and always nice. Hahaha.

What is it with bands and having b-sides that are sooooo good. Patrick's b-sides are pure brilliance!

Haha, back in the day that was "One Night Friend" (by Fear of Flying). It is a good song, I was happy when they started doing it live again, but that happiness was marred by the knowledge that they only started playing it cos they haven't written any new material in AGES grrrrrr

The new Xiu Xiu album is pretty good. Chocolate Makes You Happy and Dear God, I Hate Myself are fucking brilliant.

cant remember if i've mentioned him here yet,, www.myspace.com/tyondaibraxtoni'd love to see a ballet set to this stuff, maybe platinum rows. i think its gorgeous. you hear it and you think 'where on earth is this music coming from??' and then you read the guy's back ground -- son of anthony braxton (amazing avant garde jazz musician); classically trained musician, vocalist for battles; collaborated with the dude from dirty projectors and Wordless Music Orchestra...... give it a listen. then go on pandora and find loads more music like it

As I don't know many who know them I'd like to recommend the norwegian band Kaizers Orchestra.
I really want to see them live one day and I wish I was in the crowd of this concert:
^ lalalalalalalaa lalalalala lalalalalalalalalalalalalalala hey hey
^ 5:05 crowd=such an amazing choir!
