Okay just to warn anyone who doesn't want to know. There are *spoilers* in this thread.
Anywho... I'll start a bit down so people who don't want to read it don't have to.
THIS SONG IS SO FUCKING GOOD!
I have been sent the promotional copy of the album (in cd form, not mp3) and i must say i am so impressed. Patrick has outdone himself to an extreme extent.
Now you may think that I (like yourselves) may just be a big ol' Paddy fan and am bigging him up to the point of god-like saviour of the human race - but to be honest, i'm not as big a fan as you may think. The music i'm currently into at the moment is heavy 80's synth and post-punk psychedelica. But Patrick has really done it for me, using only THIS one song.
The song is basically everything you can hope for and more. The intro with children cheering and the sudden hit of that oh so catchy violin riff is so absorbing that i have listened to it approx. 36 times since i got it a few days ago. (i say approximately because by the time you read this i WILL have listened to it more, mark my words).
Now a lot of you will dispise me for doing this... It is not my fault. I was sent the album by one of the Maccabees in British First Class postage and i just couldn't help myself. So I am sorry to Patrick and all his most loyal fans, but i'm sorry to say that by listening to this 5-track promo, I have become a happier person. It instantly puts a smile on my face when i listen to it and makes me want to write music and be creative.
I don't know if Patrick knows his music has quite such an effect on people, but i now understand the truth behind his concept of "creating records is like producing magic" and his grand concept of releasing the album to his fans to get them to hear it "perfectly". The man must know what he's doing if he can produce such dazzling quality as he has done with this ONE song, let alone the whole album.
So I gladly state here and now, that I take my hat off to Patrick and bid him all the best luck with this new record. He thoroughly deserves it, and i cannot wait till it's release, and the release of this song as the next single.
And to the people of this forum i say to you... Brace yourselves. Brace for when this albums released, I salute the brave people of this forum who are waiting it out till february 5th, i have no match for your loyalty. But your wait won't be unjust. This record will live up to all your expectations.
