Is Finale really only 1:57 long or is this just a bad rip that's going around? It stops abruptly and if it's really all there is to the song it's a bit anti-climactic... I thought my iTunes was skipping. But i have a feeling that's how it is.

Ok....i've listened to the whole thing a few times so i think i'm ready to give a track by track synopsis...
Overture - Love it even more on the album than recorded from the radio version. It's the drums! They're spectacular. It really says "opening track" and kind of a new beginning type of sound.
The Magic Position - I can't talk enough about this song. And I think I've already talked a lot about it so I won't say anything except YAY HAPPY DANCING JOY
Accident and Emergency - I like it more on the album than as a single. It's nice. But bland at times and kind of predictable.
The Bluebell - I like it, it's cute. But I don't know. He talks about November and cold/sad/depressing. It doesn't sound to me like it should be so early on in the album but whatever. I like it. I may have to wait until I have the album and can play it in my CD player, but I don't really see the lead in from this song to Bluebells really. Like it's similar and all but I think I would like it more if it blended.
Bluebells - I liked it before, I love it now. The beat at the beginning (besides reminding me greatly of that wonderful Robbie Williams song Rock DJ) is quite uplifting, evening out the semi-depressing lyrics.
Magpie - This is arguably my favourite song on the entire album. I wasn't fond of the live version at all so I really wasn't expecting much from the album version to be honest, but it is just so well arranged and the piano and the violin. Ah...I could listen to this one all day. And Marianne Faithful makes the whole song. She's great on this. And the part after she sings "...the boy will have a name" where Patrick sings higher in harmony. GAH I love it. She kind of reminds me of grandmother willow in pocohontas for some reason. Creepy yet wise sounding.
The Kiss - What instrument is the plucking from? It sounds almost Asian influenced. I like it, but there's not much to say about it.
Augustine - The podcast version has NOTHING on the album version! The piano! Oh the piano! And the chord progression obviously, maybe one of my favourite of Patrick's. And I like it slower...at least I think the album version is slower than the podcast version. And the piano near the end - again, lovely.
Secret Garden - This is the type of Patrick Wolf song I like to hear! Organized chaos all the way! And when it goes into the really loud, strong sound...yes!
Get Lost - Again, the live version of this, like Magpie, didn't really do much for me. I'll admit when this song started I thought my alarm was going off! But it's great! The brass just makes it sparkle without being overpowering. And I was glad to hear him emphasize "bed" ... it wasn't in the live version and it really bothered me, like it should have been loud. And the end he added the "could this be love" part which I love.
Enchanted - I can see Patrick playing this when he's a lounge singer when he turns 50 or so. . . But really, people seem to be crashing this one to the floor, but I think it's lovely. It's really sweet and it's nice to hear something different and fun from him. I'm very happy with this track. The little piano interlude makes me girly smile.
The Stars - I heard this song before from the French radio station podcast and was kind of surprised that what I thought was static from the podcast was actually part of the song. I picture stars as being more clear and not all blurred and that... But I do like this track a lot. It's nice to hear it without that awful song-ruining Frenchman talking over the last minute.
Finale - It'll grow on me I'm sure, but right now I don't know. And itf it is meant to have the skips in it then so be it, but the sound of skipping albums is not one of my favourites. Otherwise I like it. Is it Jo singing kind of in the humming way near the end? I like that...
FINAL THOUGHT - Ok I don't know about anyone else, but IF PATRICK WAS NOT MADLY HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WHEN HE WROTE THIS ALBUM THEN HE SURE CAN FAKE IT WELL.
that is all.

I was wondering too if that skipping sound in fi nale was meant to be or not. so far I already got 2 different copies of the album, and they both have it. don't like it much either.

The beat at the beginning (besides reminding me greatly of that wonderful Robbie Williams song Rock DJ) Perhaps it's because I've overdosed on festive music in the past couple of months (I like to start early; the Destiny's Child Christmas album got its annual airing in October), it reminds me of Wham!'s 'Last Christmas'... Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I'm hoping that this is just because the album that's doing the rounds doesn't have the finalised levels and such. Well, I don't know if this is just me, but while sitting very quietly in bed last night listening, there are very, and I stress very subtle sounds in the background. They sound like sonar bursts going up and then down between each line of the first verse at least, especially after "So let the people talk..." and before "..this monday morning walk". Occurs most audibly at the 40th second of the song. I'm not sure if that's intentional, or Patrick originally had it and couldn't remove it totally. Either that or I'm hearing things. Somebody go and listen very intently. I'm almost sure. If so, then perhaps the version we're listening to isn't finished?

The sound is definitely there, not sure if it's supposed to be, but to me it sounds like some kind of synth-arpeggio thing. I've heard rumours about it being an early mix, so it might be something they've fixed...

Erm, The song The Magic Position, IS going to be a single, right? Just wondering, because he's leaving it a bit late, isn't he? If the album's to be released on the 24th Feb? Well, it's not THAT late, but there hasn't been a peep about it.

Just on the actual song The Magic Position
when i first found the song on someone's page on the internet back in november i pointed another fan in the same direction and asked them what they thought. they said that it couldn't be the album version as it didn't sound very produced/edited and was a bit rough. that version is the same as on the leak.. i was just wondering to those who have the album what the final mastering is like on that. the leak's production on TMP is really poor.. its glaringly obvious that he is recording the instruments and then singing over the top..
perhaps from over-listening but i'm starting to find holes in TMP..

don't you usually record the instruments and then the vocal?

yeah but normally you really can't tell.. if you concentrate on just his voice in TMP it really doesn't fit and sounds out of place
don't worry i still love it

I am really sorry if this has already been asked, I can delete it. I've been wondering what the kids are shouting in the beginning.

Oh thanks. That's what I thought they were saying. At least that's what I told my friend.

OH. Thank you, that definitely makes more sense than "shoot that fire," which I was always rather confused about.

If I could play the violin line from this song i'd play it all day everyday.

I have been thinking that for days. I discovered an old violin in my house and I'm tempted to take it up. I have no teacher and no training, so chances are I'll sound horrible. I can still try for a few days...like I did before that accordion got broken...

i totally agree with you there, i got my sister's viola out the other day and attempted to make up some wonderful tune. alas it was not to be, as i cannot read, nor compose, in the tenor cleff. i'll just have to stick to the cello or something
