13. Accident & Emergency - Meh. If you disappear suddenly I will put it down to some sort of A&E secret police. (Kidding.)

The Stars. it's the best thing his done in a while. i have been disappointed by almost every track i've heard apart from The Magic Position and this amzing peice. it has a great melody, it's immaculately produced and i love to hear jo open the track. the talking part is pretty damn cheesy but everything else is really outstanding. it's the only track that gripped my heart tightly on the first listen. It was also the first new music i heard since i left jerusalem and came to america without any real plan to get by. it was exactly what i needed. everything else sounded flat to me or dissapointing unfortunately. i am still waiting for the recorded versions. Bluebells was very to me. the german version was way better.

OVERTURE.. overture overture makes me incredibly happy.. its a very 'i am alive song' (like tristan) but in a totally different way...
and now that the album has been leaked into the open on several forums are we allowed to talk about?

OMG the way that bluebell goes into bluebells - WOW.. i love it... augustine with piano and ukulele. ;D
however get lost has moments of madness.. i don't like the drumming in bits of it.. but i love the brass etc.
secret garden is good as well.. remind me of alice in wonderland when he says 'down down down' and the piano.. its quite like lycanthropy.. he uses the same voices as on lycanthropy. although its annoying that it doesn't have any lyrics. which would be my major criticism of the album so far.. three of the album don't have lyrics..

Am I the only one who loves Secret Garden? Seriously, it's fucking fantastic. Like the lost sequel to Kate Bush's "Waking The Witch". Oh and I'm so dissapointed that he's used the crappy mix of A&E on the album. Definately my least favourite track. I've had the album for a while, this is how I'd rank the tracks from fav to least fav. Pretty much agree with you here. Secret Garden sounds wonderful, and is quite Lycanthropyish. Shame on him for including the sub-par version of A&E; the NME version is far superior indeed. Here's what I would rank them as: 1. The Magic Position 2. Accident & Emergency (ignoring that the crap version was on the album) 3. Get Lost 4. Overture 5. Bluebells 6. Secret Garden 7. The Bluebell 8. Enchanted 9. Finale 10. The Stars 11. Magpie 12. Augustine 13. The Kiss Those last five or so are probably going to change over time.

1.Overture 2. Magic Position 3. Bluebell/Bluebells - i like the way they link 4. Stars 5. Magpie 6. Get Lost - does he actually use the word 'pet' or is that just me 7. Augustine
The rest.. are all good just not my favourites at the moment
and i like the way on bluebells as its ending he says 'its the first, mumble mumble year'....
i'm assuming thats 'its the first of january, happy new year' which is a nice touch as it came out as well

damn I just got the whole album too. can't bring myself to listen to it though. I always get albums before they get released, I don't even ask for it, always someone, somewhere who sends them to me. I really tried my best not to get onto the new Patrick, I really wanted to respect his wishes and wait till I hold the actual cd in my hand.. but now I just don't know, I've got the mp3 version here.. damn my conscious!

First thoughts:
Fantastic album, as we've come to expect from Patrick. Lots of the songs really benefited from the studio recording / production - Get Lost has always seemed a little flat live to me, but on the album I think it's absolutely great, and even one of the stand-out tracks. Bluebells and Overture, which I both loved from the Podcast/Live versions are even better on the recording, which is nice (and almost a relief).
However, some criticisms:
Enchanted is terrible. I'd hoped the studio version would improve on it, but it hasn't. Even worse is that it really sticks out against the rest of the album (and not in the good way).
Also, the interlude-y/instrumental tracks (with the exception of The Bluebell, which is excellent) seem somewhat throw-away and uninspired. Sure they maintain the whole atmosphere/vibe of the album and provide decent enough transitions between the tracks, but I feel they don't add anything extra like Apparition/Jacob's Ladder/Eulogy all did on WitW.
Will obviously give it many a re-listen before I even think of judging it against his other albums, but I'm definitely not at all disappointed on first listen. Also it seems as if this leak is either a trans-code or just a not very good quality rip, so I wouldn't judge this as if it were the final release.

I like Overture on the album. the drums are excellent. I think I still like the interview version better though.
And like I said already, Magpie is excellent. I think it may be my favourite.
The Magic Position is sooo poppy. I love it!
I'll try to resist hearing the rest before the album comes out but given the chance i'll probably listen to it. I have no resistance.

I want to here Patrick sing and not her and the drums on overture sound to..hmm don't know the english word for it. just not to pleased about it, I loved the song live so much! I guess it's that way with Patrick and me, I love him much much better when he plays live!

I preferred Bishi's vocals on Magpie live at the Union Chapel to Marianne's on the record, although in turn I prefer that one to Patrick singing solo. Although to be fair the Patrick solo one was an old live recording which probably doesn't do it justice.
The Secret Garden confused me a little too - I have it written down that he played it in his set at The Bloomsbury gig way back in March '06, and although I can't remember much of it I'm still pretty sure that it was an actual song with vocals back then, not this wierd, well... noise. Wonder what happened there? :S

re: blackcherrypies
I dunno...something about the drums. It's like a tribal war chant. They're just so...powerful. It's like he's marching to fight or stand up for something.

Wonder what happened there? :S lots of technonoise indeed, waste of space in my opinion, reminded me a bit of what björk once did on homogenic. thankfully this horror was a little shorter then björk's one. ;D and I am absolutely anti guestsingers lots of songs that I love are ruined by guestsingers. really annoys the hell out of me. I'm listening to stars now, finally a song that sounds almost exactly like the live version. or am I perhaps listening to the liveversion by accident ;D hah no it's the real one. well at least this song didn't disappoint me. I can't believe I'm disappointed, I was soooo m uch looking forward to the album, cause the songs got stuck in my head since I heard them live. I just have to blame my speakers, or the equalizer isn't right or something, it's impossible that Patrick disappoints me
