I am so excited about my upcoming embroidery project I am starting this thread. I'm crosstitching a t-shirt and I got stabilizer fabric and everything so I can do it right. I was so worried that since the fabric was stretchy it would be unembroiderable, but I was wrong. This is a quick mockup of my image: I haven't converted it into a pattern yet, so the details may change, but the general idea is there. So I know that a bunch of you do crafty things: sew, knit, embroider, alter clothes, etc etc. Share share share! We can gossip like old ladies at a quilting bee, but over the internet. What's your current project? What are you going to do next? If you had an unlimited amount of time and money, what would you do?

Oh no! This thread is going to be the death of me! haha I'll just show a few.. Embroidered on annoying/stupid/awful jersey knit without stabalizer (dkjfhsela;!!!): More jersey embroidering without stabalizer (insert swearing): I made this clutch from scratch yesterday and I luuuurve it (complete with three inside pockets...I went a bit pocket crazy): Aaaaan, lastly, I just finished this now, basically. A little wristlet with an embroidered sailboat patch and stripy blue fabric. I used some fabric that had previously been made into...something, so it's a bit uneven, but it'll work. There's a little pocket inside. And you can see part of my giraffe-sequinned shirt. Yesssssss. hmm...I think I need a job. Not that I just recently did all these, but you know, in the last week I've made two skirts, the clutch, and the wristlet. Before I make anything else I have to make my sister a jumper (the American kind) because she's been bugging me to finish (start) it for a week. Oh, and if anyone really loves crafting, definitely check out the Craftster forum....lots of ideas/patterns/answers to questions, etc... www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?www

i can't sew, and i hate cutesy things, but somehow i'm still drawn to crafts. so i make useless things for the head: (the second one's feathers are over a foot tall, it also has a very long tail of sequins, ribbon, rick rack, pompoms, etc.) i can't find pictures of any more, but i've made flower crowns and other feather crowns and bell crowns and fur crowns, etc etc etc. all *very* stylish. and slightly more practical things for holding jewellery (started as mothers day gifts, then people asked for them, so i made more): right now i'm making a headband of neon pompoms. i think it will be nice as an earwarmer for like skiing and stuff.

Try here: www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=26554.0Yeah, Victoria, Craftster is amazing. And you are a brave soul for embroidering without a stabilizer. I love how you can make things without patterns! Whenever I've made costumes for myself, I've been like that, but I've kind of had it drummed out of me working in the costume shop, oh dear. Allison, I love your head things. I adore hats and head things, and have even been |<- this ->| close to getting some buckram and making hats, but I am a coward. I do have a lovely tinfoil/glitter dot fabric fascinator I made for a robot-themed party that I love. I was also going to make myself a unicorn horn (lu lz) but I got sidetracked and then I lost it.

I was also going to make myself a unicorn horn (lu lz) I would say I need a hobby, but..... hmm...I think I need a job. Not that I just recently did all these, but you know, in the last week I've made two skirts, the clutch, and the wristlet. Those are really great! There was a girl in my first year class who spent her summer sewing and selling her creations somewhere on the Harbourfront. I was thinking of starting an etsy to sell clutches, badges, non-clothing items, etc..., but I don't know if it's worth it. Like, will people actually buy things I make?

If you promote it enough! Well, promote it to people who aren't poor (I mean, I'd totally buy something if I weren't broke.)

i made a peacock mask! do you think it needs more feathers at the top? I think what it needs is more surface treatment on the beak so it looks less plain. Like, the face part is painted so lovely, but the beak is so plain it sticks out.

So I'm only really posting this because I am so proud of being able to make a crosstitch pattern all by myself. Revised (and huge!) Robocat: Since I drafted it out on 2mm graph paper, it's actually 3" x 4" (ooo switching systems)

Revised (and huge!) Robocat: Well that is just amazing. I love it! Good luck and all. I miss being crafty. When I'm off at school I don't really have time for it, or the supplies. And this is just silly. I used to crochet blankets and scarves a lot, I never got into knitting. But crocheting is pretty cool. I also quilt, because I am indeed an old lady. It was probably one of the more rash decisions in my life. "Hey, I think I want to make a quilt." So I took a class. And now I've made about four or five in my life, and my mom is absolutely obsessed with them. I blame myself, you see. She has an addiction... and is one of those ladies who hangs out in a quilt shop now. Our house is overflowing with fabric. But it's cool, I get lots of cool lapquilts out of it... Actually, I want to get back into it, because quilting is pretty fun. What I really want to do is a paper-piecing. I think that's more fun than quilting, because man, you do NOT have to cut out all the little pieces. Now that I've rambled. Since we're sharing pictures, here is the best picture I have of the quilt I made for myself when I went off to college. I should really make time to take a proper picture of it one day.

^^wow! thats like a legit quilt! i have loads of quilts and crocheted things, too. but i have no skills, so i didn't make them, i bought them from old lady junk shops. my favorites are made by my mother's friend's halfsister's exhusband's mother, Rose, who lives in New Hampshire. and she's about 90 and just sits in her house and makes quilts. and she's practically blind, so none of the squares ever match up, and one winter her sewing machine broke so she made all her things that year by hand. i think they're lovely quilts.

Claremimicry - excellent job on your pattern! I applaud anyone who has the time and patience to do embroidery patterns on their own! (and am jealous of those who have the artistic talents to pull it off so well!)

Crosstitch is easy, though, it's just grids and squares. It's like pixel art in real life.
