Yeah, it's amazing. It's exaclty the sort of thing I WANT to be able to make but CAN'T. It's fine when i'ts inside my head but I find it impossible to put down on paper, or make from fabric or whatever. I also have appauling (not spelt right) patience and motivation.
In june I'm invited to this really posh awards ceremony at one of the county's top hotels to be awarded for all the voluteering work I've done and I really want to design and make myself a dress. I want to use green thick silk stuff and lace and a kind of corset front or back but it's all majorly impossible.

Here are two of my latest projects, this first is a patchwork cardigan that was mainly experimentation, and I don’t like how the fabric stretched when I sewed the zip in, but otherwise I love it, it’s getting delightfully scruffy quickly. The second is a pair of shorts I made from scratch yesterday afternoon. I just decided I wanted some knee-length shorts gathered into a kinda ‘cuff’ at the bottom. So I drew up a pattern from an existing pair of combats, the fabric was remains of another project.

absoloutely love the cardigan, what a lovely mix of patterns and textures... last night was my band's last ever gig and i decided just a few hours before going on stage i wanted to be some form of glittery robot creature. ran this up in about half an hour, resulting in fraying hems and general sparkly scruffiness!

Peppermintstripe: That dress is lovely, you remind me of a mermaid. I like your hair too!
Recently i've been painting a psychadelic flower power kind of t-shirt which is finished and i'll post a picture but i'm not sure it's the best thing to wear to a job application. :S

Apparently she has this thing where she gets urges to eat really cute things, so she's been threatening to gobble it up.

That's beautiful! Is it all backstitch (?)

97% backstitch, some french knots, and the light blue circle outside of it all is stem stitch. Thank you.

Awesome ^ Re-visiting this thread reminds me how painfully overdue pictures of my latest creations are. Well, that'll be solved...

Does anyone read www.nataliedee.com/ ? Anyway, I've done two embroidered pieces from the comic now.. I can't remember if I've already posted the first one, but anyway, I turned into a tote I never use and the second is still on the loop as I just finished it last night (I started it last year hahaha)

Those are awesome! I love Natalie Dee-- embroidery is great for her comics, I think.
Do I spy some kind of staggered satin stitch?

Yeah, I like it! I was going to ask you how to do it, so no worries-- it looks very intentional
