I liked Atonement when I first saw it. Every so often I am in the mood for a romance. I liked the story so I was able to deal with Keira Knightley's stiff always the same acting. But then life got like the movie and that just freaked me out.
Now if I were in the mood for a star crossed lovers romance set during a war, I'd definitely pick A Very Long Engagement.

I have nothing against romance films...this one just didn't do anything for me.
Keira's frosty, detached demeanour should have probably been well-suited to this but...eh. I can't look at her anymore without thinking of Keeley Hawes.

Snaps with the Keeley Hawes thing!
I normally hate period dramas but this one was OK.

Atonement was dire. I spent at least a month after seeing the film saying 'come back to me' without moving my teeth whenever things got quiet; sometimes, I get on my own nerves.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. Very strange story, but a good kind of strange, I think. Ben Whishaw did a fantastic job at portraying an, albeit somewhat mentally innocent, serial killer. I haven't read the book so I'm not sure what the differences are, but since the film made good sense (perhaps not in a realistic way, but in a fantastical way that strings itself together and manages to seem real despite the unbelievable aspect of the plot) and still managed to be thought-provoking, I found it thrilling. I won't write anymore, since I don't want to give anything away for anyone who's not seen it but plans to..

Tri Orisky Pro Popelku. Yes, I know, it's a children's story. But I love it!

East is East I liked that film. It was amusing and kind of depressing at the same time. It was definitely worth watching^^

I just watched a Wolof language movie called La Petite Vendeuse de Soleil. It was only 45 minutes long so the story couldn't get too complex. Interesting view of life in Dakar. I'd like to see more by this director. Anything Senegalese really.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. When I was in high school, my BFF the librarian (it's a sad truth, move along) recommended the book to me, telling me she thought it would be right up my street... I was slightly... unnerved, to say the least. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Goya's Ghosts
I was expecting something like the painter version of Amadeus (its also directed by Milos Forman), but it wasn't really about Goya at all, except that he was one of the the three main characters. It was about Natalie Portman (who I can't stand) who was the daughter of a rich merchant, a muse to Goya, and accused of being jewish by the spainish inquisition. Javier Bardeem was a monk turned revolutionary, all this is taking place in Spain during the French revolution. Anyway, the bits about Truth I loved, and the insane natalie portman i could leave. It was a good film but Milos has made better and i was a little dissapointed.

I watched Dancer in the Dark. Seriously disappointing. Pretty standard plot, shot on crappy cameras with some slightly 'off-kilter' acting.

I watched Narnia yesterday, and I totally forgot how visually amazing and generally awesome it is.

God yes, yes it was. Is it weird/horrible that it made me smile real big and exclaim "OH MY GOD THAT WAS SO GOOD"? I mean, not because of what happened, but because, as you said... it was just SO FANTASTIC.
I loved how it gave off this really creepy vibe the whole time, and everyone in it played their parts so amazingly. And the music was all crazy and awesome. THE MAIN CHARACTERS WERE JUST SO CRAZY AND AWESOME TOO. God, I really loved it a whole lot.

I think if I tried watching it again I'd have trouble staying serious because of the milkshake video.

Raaamboooo. My most recent and favourite DVD purchase. I got the trilogy because box sets are cool, but I still haven't seen First Blood Part II or 3. I am not expecting much, but I do love Rambo. Comes into the same absurdly over-the-top action film genre as Running Man, thus I love it.
Also Purple Rain. Purple Rain is fucking amazing. Anybody who says differently has no taste. It's most fun for freezing at points when Prince isn't the focal point of the camera, chances are he's staring at someone in a really creepy way.
Also, I Would Die 4 U is beyond awesome.

Also, I Would Die 4 U is beyond awesome. Agreed. One of the best songs, like, ever. It makes me wish I liked Prince more than I do. Also, [REC], if that's how we're writing it. Spanish zombie handheld thing, you know the one. It was very good. Very scary. People walked out! Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I don't care if it's an artsy foreign film, the title annoys me because it sounds stupid when you try and pronounce it out loud. Rec? Doesn't sound very scary. God yes, yes it was.
