What films have you recently seen??? Don't just list, review/summarize/discuss/etc, please.
I just saw "Feed" which was absolutely disgusting and horrible, about this man who feeds women to death. And then once they've died he chops off all their fat and feeds it to his next victim. Between the nasty scenes are pseudo-philosophical ramblings, which are horribly off (supposedly commenting on our obsession with Skinny and Beauty). Awful awful film, watch it only if you want to be put off food for days.

Art School Confidential. Nothing spectacular at all and badly filmed most of the time. It tries to outline what art school is really like, picking out a number of poor but horribly true stereotypes. It made me feel like a wanker for going to art school..
John Malkovich is pretty amazing as a camp art teacher though.

That sounds like one of those movies that are just unintentionally hilarious.
I just saw Remains Of The Day. It's a merchant ivory film about an English butler who lives for his duties. He treats everyone with the same cold formality and shows no emotion. His father dies, his master becomes a nazi sympathizer, he falls in love... nothing appears to move him. It's very realist. No action. I enjoyed it and I reccomend it.

John Malkovich is pretty amazing as a camp art teacher though. I testify to this! The movie was better than the first ten minutes portended, though kind of disappointing considering it was from the Ghost World folks, I think? I just saw The National Treasure, or whatever it's called with Nicholas Cage and his insanely white teeth. It was like a grown-up, more patriotic Goonies and kind of stupid. The pacing was so swift and typically Disney, and all the jokes were over-obvious, as they tend to be in said films... but hey, it was enjoyable in the way watching someone solving a Rubik's cube is enjoyable, I suppose, and had enough suspense and trapdoory action to keep me awake. Also, the guy who played Riley-something was cute-ish with his glasses on. Which helps.

I haven't seen a movie in aaaages.
I think the last movie I saw was Juno, back when it was playing in, like, two theaters in the city.

One of the fine art teachers in our other building is the real life version of him honest to god, he thought an accidental picture of a concrete paving stone was "really deep" wtf and they pay this man? Art school confidential is one of those films that could have been sooo good but it just failed cause it failed to hit the right balance. I think i watched bad education for the tenth time the other day.... Now i'm going to go watch across the universe

Yeah, I found it quite disappointing when you compare it with Ghost World, but OK. I know nothing about art school, but I take it that the film went quite out of it's way to paint art-schoolers as morons. I love it that it's so matinée-y! Like watching a shittier Indiana Jones film. It would be pretty neat to own the brain of Ben Gates though, with all the ridiculous speed of connections and associations.

Tideland
Terry Gilliam is pretty gifted and this might well be the best film he's done. So utterly bizarre. If only he'd been allowed to do the Harry Potter films as per J K Rowlings request. That'd be well good.

Repo Man!
I've seen it loads of times and I'm sure there's a lot of humour that goes way over my head, given that it's set in 1980s America, but what the hell, it's great.

It's fantastic but I can never exactly put my finger on why.
Like when I'm trying to explain it to people. I go "Yeah! Well! Yeah, it's really cool, and there's, like, a car? And a guy called Otto, and he's a Repo Man, and they go around getting cars off people who owe money, and there's this car with an alien in and this woman with a robot hand and... uh... punks... yeah... It's really good!"
I can make anything sound lame. Call it a talent.

the last film i saw was Jacob's Ladder, purely because i'd heard it was scary (i wanted to find a film that would actually be psycologically scary, rather than jumpy scary any suggestions would be appreciated) and that the people who make the Silent Hill games drew influences from it (i am cool.)
the whole "if you're ready to die then your soul is freed, but if you're not ready to die then your soul is torn apart" thing was quite interesting i suppose, it made me think but it wasn't very scary
perhaps because the main character looked a bit like my English tutor when he had glasses on, which provided light comic relief throughout
i should review films for a living, i am utterly amazing at it.

Juno, as before mentioned. Made me cry which is always a sign of a good film.
I've also recently seen I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, The Ex (Zach Braff..*droooool*), and St Trinians.
All were pretty good but not amazing. St Trinians was the best out of all of them (minus Juno)

I was made to watch St Trinians. Literally the worst thing I've ever seen. Sounds like I'm fortunate to have missed out on the other 2...

My best friend was gagging through it and I was more or less "meh" throughtout the whole thing. Pretty funny though. Recently I've seen Cloverfield which I really liked. Thought that it could have done without seeing the monster up close at the end though. I also saw Juno which I thought was wonderful, but most importantly I saw Sweeney Todd. I love the musical by Sondheim, and the combination of Helena Bonham-Carter, Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp was almost too good. Like all Tim Burton films it looked utterly amazing. The only thing I'd point out is that none of their voices were quite Broadway standard, but given that they're actors, not singers they did pretty well.

Disco Pigs was on telly last night. And I was so damned confused.
I would have loved the damned thing if I'd been watching it by myself, but my friends kept getting confused by the storyline, and Mike came in drunk and covered in garlic mayo and that was distracting, and then I almost fell asleep and I decided to go to bed half way through before I started to drool.
There was something whispy and romantic about it, yet oddly disturbing, something that made me gag a little.

I just watched Atonement. I thought it was very good, but man, I was so bothered by Briony's hair. I get that they were trying to create some continuity in the character as she aged and the actress changed, but what was cute on a little girl, alright on an 18 year old, was just... so awkwardly out of place on an old lady. I was distracted by that.

But perhaps she was sort of stuck at being a little girl, too. but wow, vanessa redgrave.. the costumes in the film were so beutiful, fuuuuck... and the house, and everything, such fun to watch, beautiful cinematography (that dunkirk shot imagine shooting that..) i've just watched Pink Flamingos. <3 john waters, love the soundtracks.
