Haha Rhi honestly, I NEVER ever draw. Ever. But thanks I suppose aha. I don't really have an 'idea' or a theme, but at the moment, I have made a little black square with a boat and a flag, and I don't even know why, it just felt appropriate. I may print a tiny tiny picture of Patrick's face and put it on for laughs. Or somewhere I should make a little flap with his face inside, like on those kids programs haha. I have a nice piece of gold material that's a bit sparkly, so that's going to be part of the background.
Erm, so mine's just in bits, but that's the way I like it.
Does it need to be double sided? I was thinking about that, cos otherwise it will be a bit blank on the other side.

my theme is RAGE yes, that's right, RAGE or it is right now anyhow. i remember last year a lot of people (read:me) forgot to consider a margin to allow for binding. should we allow a margin for hole punching?

I don't see the point in having a CD/DVD as well as the handmade book. I know it would have been nice to give him something on his actual birthday but it still seems a bit uncecessary to me. As either it will include pages that people are incluiding in the actual book (so will ruin the surprise of seeing the book) or people will have to make two pages. Anyone doing digital pages can just print them off and put them in the handmade book anyway.
Also, I would like to do a page but I haven't thought of any ideas at the moment and the one I did last year was bad because I rushed it, so I will wait and see if any ideas come to me. It's a pity that he isn't doing any UK tour dates after his borthday (other than festivals) as it would have been lovely if some of us could give it in person, but I am greatful that it should actually get to him this year.

That's brilliant Kitz! JEALOUS.
Points: -Yes, leave a margin please! -Don't necessarily worry about double sided, i might just either leave them blank or put peeople details (username, name etc) on. Welcome if you want to though! - Annabel, i'm not sure if i want plastic pockets. I think they're a bit impersonal, no? But they are better, practically. Can you send me some anyway, just in case? Thanks.

So I've totally been motivated to do it tonight, I made a little collage of that tinsel hat picture: It looks a little better in reality, but I may have to put clear nail varnish over it otherwise it'll be gluey and stick to the other pages. Might look quite nice a bit glossy though. Anyway, that's going somewhere on the page. I'll remember to leave a margin.

Wow, that's really good Kitz! I wish I could draw... Also, I think everyone should stick a picture of themselves on the back so Patrick can she who made the page, perhaps with username and name like Rhi said.
Jade, yours is also amazing!

I'm supporting the plastic pocket. It keeps our works in safe and also quite practical. Also, I think everyone should stick a picture of themselves on the back so Patrick can she who made the page, perhaps with username and name like Rhi said. you want to scare him away from the music scene forever? If I put a pic of myself, he will regret that he even started making music for people and thank you, girls. it makes me happy that you like it

Your probably right, Annabel, it would definitely work better and stop me making any more mistakes than i'm already going to make, haha. Send 'em over. When will this arrive, do you know? You're welcome to take the job of collating it if you know which address you'll be at

If I put a pic of myself, he will regret that he even started making music for people I don't think he's put off that easily And I'm sure you are beautiful. Just thought it might make it seem more personal, but at the same time I don't particularly like photos of me so I don't blame anyone who wouldn't want to do it.

Wow, I've missed a lot. Sorry for not being here for all the discussion, guys.
I think my big issue with only doing the physical book (since a lot of people seem to be against the digital idea at all now), is that I was planning a digital submission. I'm still willing to gather digital submissions for anyone who isn't putting a physical page together. :\ I also still like the Blurb book idea, and even though it's not as tactile or sentimental, I think it will last longer than a bound book of handmade pages, while still having the tangible quality to it that a CD/DVD won't have. I think I'm in a definite minority now, though.

i think the cd/dvd is a good idea to get something to him on the day. i personally am planning to whiz something up in photoshop to send for the cd, just a short birthday message etc, and i'll email it to you to be put on the cd. it can also be added to the blurb book IF that's going ahead but seeing as it's expensive, i don't think anyone will be willing to shell out for it etc...
the other half of my plan is to write a letter and decorate it for the plastic folder/binder idea.

Cool. I'd like to get him some stuff on the CD whether more people participate in that half or not, so if anyone would still like to send me stuff for that, feel free. My only really big worry with that part is ensuring it gets to him. Just because I'm going to be at the concert doesn't mean I can get close enough to give it to him. I've never been to one of his shows before (This is my first, and I'm so excited!), so does he meet with fans after, or what?

I also like the CD idea, since I was also planning a digital submission. Moreover, getting something on the day is pretty special. But paying for a blurb book does seem a but much, but a binder of physical things for later seems nice, too. I just definitely don't want to ditch the CD idea.
As for meeting him afterwards, if you wait around, you can nab him on the way out. Just make sure you're at the correct exit, if there's more than one. Maybe asking a friendly security guard what the usual one is would help.

oooh, good idea! i can even give management a nudge to say that someone will leave a gift with merch, so it'll definitely get to patrick? though that does take away from the whole getting to give it to him and seeing his reaction experience...

Ooo this is going to be good. I'm up for donating money to go towards postage or whatever is going on. I just need to think of an idea for my page...

It's nice to see some people are still up for the CD idea. I think having a multi-part gift will be great, anyway. There are a lot of devoted fans here, and we have a lot to offer, so it'll really be nice to give him gifts by different people on different fronts. As I said, I've unblocked my e-mail on my profile, so whenever those who wish to contribute to this half of the gift start getting things done, feel free to send them over. Just put something like "Patrick's Gift" in the subject header, so I know what the e-mail is for. It'd also be nice to put some information from yourself, like a name that you wish to be credited to, in the e-mail, and I'll compile a nice pretty Photoshop document with everyone's names and things to be put on the disk as well. That way, if you also want to include, say, signatures, you can do that as well. I can open almost all manner of image files, so there's really no limit there. Feel free to contribute multiple gifts, as well (say, a picture of your page from last year, a cake picture, and a new picture), and I'll arrange everything nicely into folders.
