I'd like to at least try and contribute but I'm unsure of my artistic skills at the moment. But I'll wait for clear instruction. i'm ditto-ing this. i'd love to help, but i'm totally new to it all, ha.

I love being creative however the results aren't always as good as I imagined, but I guess it's the thought that really matters

Yeah, I'm 'creative', but I'm not particularly 'artistic', but I will try my best and make something. Is it open to what people usually do? Just a page that can look however you want it to / says whatever you want it to? It may be good for me, considering I've got so much free time now.

Count me in as well I'm happy to contribute anything; I'll do my own thing or I'll do what I'm told! I'm not sure if I'd be able to contribute to the Paypal fund at the moment though : / - Major lack of currency.

Okay, here's a bit of a round up so far.
Things that are for sure: - We are doing a Blurb book, henceforth known as a BB, which is physical (?) book with up to 80 pages of whatever you want in. This means (within file size limits) you can create whatever you want. E.g. pictures, scanned pictures, pages created on Word, messages etc etc. I'm sure PW will appreciate it all. A digital CD with hints of things to come in the BB will be delivered to Patrick on the night of his birthday. The book will be delivered at a later date (to be set). - When you have created your digital piece, you will need to e-mail it to Miyamashi. A date for physical pieces is still to be set, since this physical bit is still a bit hazy. - Deadline is JUNE 16th for digital copies, earlier if poss. - The book will cost, and people will need to donate (if they can).
Contributers: Once you have said you want to do this, you MUST DO IT, unless you notify us. We can't be hanging around with this, waiting for a submission that won't come. - Oh Rhi-lly - jay - Miyamashi - quiksilver28 - kitz - jadeface - Last Goodbye - katherine - mynameisZacEfron - obscurecure - annabel - Ceremony (Sibz, you're already here!) - choolbin bleu - suzypuzz - Eruannele - arcadian - Victoria - mimicry - suedamnit - gasolinerainbow - Xteenuh - allison - youareawolf - millindris - La Nuit - jakes - chelmashannon - honestthief - zosia
SO FAR. If you want to be added or taken off this list, please notify me.
Further questions still to be resolved: - How are we paying? I.e. Paypal or whatever (NOT click'n'buy, haha) - What is the title? Something simple (Patrick Wolf's 26th Birthday) or something else? - What are the page boundaries for the digital copy? - Any other questions, haha.
S'that all ok?

Sounds good to me, I may try and 'design' something tomorrow while I've definitely got some free time, see what I end up with. And I could donate a few £'s.

Sounds good! I think paypal is probably the easiest option. I'll do my little bit tomorrow , won't be anything much, but still.

I might contribute but don't put me on the list at the moment as I'm not sure if I will have time. Is it not possible to get the actual book to him on his birthday? As in, does anyone know how long it takes for the book to be printed and posted (to Miyamashi to give on the day)?

This is a nice idea, it's a shame our completed book couldn't make it to him last year. I'll skip out on this one though, I'm just too busy. Will pictures (? I don't really know how this BB works) be put up here once it's done? I'd love to see what people are doing!

Okay, I've unblocked my e-mail, so whenever people start getting in submissions, feel free to send them to me.
As for format, since it's a digital copy, it can be almost any size, as I can resize it later. Use your judgement, however, and remember that the physical pages are going to be 11x13 in, so make something that I can fit on a page without having to sacrifice quality.
I think what I'll do is put the original raw files in a folder on the disk, and also the main file for the blurb book. That way, if Patrick really likes it, he can get more made if he wishes, and he'll also have the original files, so he can see the bigger ones at their full resolution, on top of having the physical copy that we're going to send later. Sound good?
Also, the deadline was for when we would have to send out the file to Blurb if we wanted to ensure the physical copy getting here so I could deliver it. Sorry I didn't communicate that better. As for when you need to get the files to me, I think I can allow a little more time for that. So, say June 22? Just a few more days for everyone to wrap things up, but it still gives me time to put everything together.
Also, Rhi, would you modify the original post to say what your most recent one does? That'll just make it easier for newcomers to the thread to get the information they need.

i very much agree with annabel's points, here. i do like the idea of the blurb book but i think it may be superfluous to make a disc of it and give him that and then the physical copy of the exact same thing at a later date... it'd be much nicer to have a real, physical thing that is very tactile and beautiful, like the last book was. and we'd have much more time to send that version as i've just checked and we've got at least three windows of dates after the US tour where i can possibly send it over. this'd be a better option for international fans because then they're not rushing and worrying about postage, etc.

i'm in for it, whatever it is.
i have a photo of the page i made last year, and a photoshop file of part of it too, if that could be of any use. it was Bloodbeat themed.

What I would propose is that the project was split, so that anything that was digital could be sent to miyamashi in time for the making of a cd/dvd of the artwork, which could also be made into a blurb book in order to give it true credit. However, a binder of original pieces of art put together in time for PW's return to the UK after his tour would offer a chance for people - like me - for whom it's really important to have a physical piece of artwork to offer & could all be posted & put together by someone in the UK. This would offer an extended deadline, and we could just use poly pockets for each piece so he can take them out & look/touch & a really nice binder that ties with ribbons and is all sparkly or something... I like this idea, if I'm reading it right. Are you suggesting to digitally send copies of our pages for the blurb book in time for his birthday and then sending our original physical copies if we wanted to, to someone in the UK to bind together for a later date? I think that's a good idea.

I'm sure there's no limit on how many people can contribute.
Is A4 size what we're aiming for? I don't want to do too small/big. I'll probably make some collage sort of things, maybe sew some bits of material on etc. But I think the Blurb is a good idea, but I think the physical copy would be nice too, so you can see all the textures etc.

Hmmm. I see what you mean now. We don't necessarily need to spend money on a Blurb book, if we'll give him a more handcrafted and original version of the pages we actually create? This would save money. But I'm not dismissing the Blurb book, maybe someone should do a quick poll or something. And giving him some bits on a DVD could be nice, as a way of getting it to him earlier, even if it's 'not the same'. But he'll get a book later on... ?
