I figured it best to have a spoilers thread for all those silly people.
BEGIN SPOILAGE: Pretty good yeah? Shame about the epilogue. Childhood sweethearts can fuck right off.

Poor Alby.

Gah! That ending was a cliche-overload. I'm ashamed.

It was pretty good, and epilogue's are always awful, but "All was well"? ALL-WAS-FUCKING-WELL!? Oh JK, you came on so far in terms of ability in the last book, but you couldn't swing a good ending. Poo.

I don't know why we need to have a whole separate thread for it. :-\ But okay.
Albus Severus/Scorpius OTP.

Because people might check the other thread. Shit happens, it's just to avoid any potential upset. Some people lack common sense etc.
Oh yeah, and it was obviously so I could steal your 'thread starting' THUNDER or something.

That's what I thought. No, I just wondered. I'm glad, though. I've been waiting for DAYS to talk about the ridiculousness that is Albus Severus. And Scorpius. And all the other children. Wowww.

after she read for ages but didnt seem to get further than 20 pages i decided to ruin the book for my sister.
Then we both ranted endlessly about how crap the epilogue was and how Albus Serverus would kill himself. The list of possible deaths was endless and quite funny.

I'm going to read the epilogue again today, to see if it's as sickly and cloying as it felt last night.
The book was good, not sure how well it's going to transfer into film; all that moving about with the tent for months... The questions I had from previous books were answered but I expected there to be a bit more to the reasons for Petunia's loathing of all things magical other than she wanted to go to Hogwarts but was rejected.
I was almost devastated at the point where it looked like Dumbledore had only befriended Harry with the sole purpose of keeping him alive just long enough to ensure that Voldemort died.

lolz @ hedwig being blown up DIDNT SEE THAT ONE COMING! i knew she was gonna die, but blown up? in a sidecar? little extreme, yes? I didn't see Fred's death coming either. And the image of Lupin and Tonks laid out next to each other was so sad and unexpected. But the ending was crap, and is it me or was the whole "Harry talking to Dumbledore - is he dead? or not?" not really explained?Seems to me JK didn't really know how to end it properly. And the constant rhetorical questions got tedious after a couple of pages. I'm looking forward to the movie though simply because of the Snape flashback scenes - no one can have too much Alan Rickman in their lives.

And the image of Lupin and Tonks laid out next to each other was so sad and unexpected. That bit upset me, because it caught me off-guard. I was like 'whaaat?' I had to go back and read it again... at first I thought they were alive, but just lying on the floor for some unknown reason. When all the dead people came out of the stone, why wasn't Tonks there? And when Harry 'died' and was with Dumbledore, I really didn't want him to go back to ‘Earth‘, I wanted him to stay there and meet up with James, Lily, Lupin and Sirius... To me, the part in the Great Hall at the end with Harry and Voldemort didn't make much sense... the fact that the Hall was crammed full of people and no-one interrupted the scene while Harry and Voldy were talking. It seems unlikely.

I was really sad about Lupin and Tonks. That they got married was so great (and Lupin got to spend time with his kid, thanks Harry!) but then... alas.
I think that the epilogue is understandably cheesy, but should have been fifty pages longer. Where's Luna? How's the Ministry? Who the hell has been raising now nineteen-year-old Teddy? (And who is this Victorie he's snogging? Inquiring minds need to know!)
I also knew that Neville was going 1) to be awesome and 2) wind up as the Herbology professor.

Well, the Death Eaters were shit-scared of big Baldy Voldy; but you'd think some of the good guys might have pitched in? Like, oh aye, sorry Harry, I was tying my shoelace whilst you were FIGHTING TO THE DEATH!
I had to re-read Fred's death, I was like, noooooo way. But I thought that Lupin would die, even if Tonks wouldn't. Made me a bit sad, but I didn't think JK would let the one remaining member of Padfoot, Prongs, Moony and Wormtail live, y'know? It feels a bit more complete that way.
I think Victoriwhatsits was maybe Bill and Fleur's child? Also, Neville was HARDXCORE in this book. Wow, Neville. You have come so far and it is the greatest. I loved when his grandmother appeared and she was like, "my grandson is laying the smackdown, aiiiiiiiiight."

Who the hell has been raising now nineteen-year-old Teddy? (And who is this Victorie he's snogging? Inquiring minds need to know!) Bill and Fleur's daughter? Isn't there a reference to her being a young Weasley cousin?

Wow, I never thought of it that way before. The whole thing with Lupin and Tonks leaving behind the little baby was meant to mirror the situation with Harry and his parents, I'm sure, but it was sad we never found out what happened to him. Do I smell another set of books, maybe?

I'm glad Harry lives to, errr, thirty odd anyway, and Teddy saw plenty of his godfather and the family. It seems less sad than Harry's situation.

When all the dead people came out of the stone, why wasn't Tonks there? Because he called up specific people. Tonks, as great as she as, was not one of the people that he really wanted with him just then. It wasn't like he was calling the most recently killed, because then it would have been a lot different. To me, the part in the Great Hall at the end with Harry and Voldemort didn't make much sense... the fact that the Hall was crammed full of people and no-one interrupted the scene while Harry and Voldy were talking. It seems unlikely. Well, didn't Harry say for no one to interfere? It had to be him. If anyone else tried to help, they probably would have just been killed. I didn't think the book was DONE before she shifted into the epilogue. I felt like there should have been a bit more. But, at least, now there's still plenty for the fandom to speculate about. And the epilogue was pretty much fantastic because it was so bad. The beginning of the book was really slow, and not really well written, at least that's how I felt. I don't know if that really improved as the book moved on, or I just noticed it less as the plot picked up. But I REALLY liked it overall. I was kind of disappointed more wasn't done with the Deathly Hallows. They sort of felt like they were this plot point that was introduced but never really... used. Just a lot of theory and speculation about them. I wanted Harry to get them all and use them. :-\ Annnd, my favourite part of the book was little Kreacher all ECSTATIC over Regulus's fake locket. He was pretty much the cutest thing ever and I wanted to hug him.

I LOVED how Kreacher got all awesome towards the end. That made me smile sooooo much.
