My friends laugh at the types of movies I am amassing in my DVD collection, but it bothers me not one bit. Their loss. Me too. My friends are, like, massive gore and horror film fans; and they totally snort at my art-house collection. Until I lend the DVDs to them and they come back with huge, starry eyes, crying, "Wow! I loved it!" Aye, really? Nice. Any recommendations, Clare? I've been looking for good movies and ending up watching the same old classics.

I just got 13 Tzameti today, which was quite good. It's a thriller, but, even though that genre isn't really my scene, I got quite into it. It was a decent film, but I probably wouldn't have paid full price for it if I hadn't gotten it on the cheap. Lilya 4-Ever is a really beautiful, but painfully sad film. It's really good! It's a definite favourite, even amongst my hater-friends. Also, you should definitely see Die Fetten Jahre sind vorbei. Its English title is The Edukators. It's a German film about anti-capitalists that I haven't watched enough recently - very, very awesome. Even if political activism isn't your idea of a fun weekend, it is definitely worth a watch. I've heard an LA remake is being made, which makes me quite sad - part of the beauty of the film is the stunning German countryside. Finally, London To Brighton is a UK film you might have some trouble finding. It's about English prostitutes and is very well directed. The smybollism in the film is really potent, and the plot is unravelled really well. Check them out, I think you might like them!

I really want to see Ett Hål i mitt hjärta - it's directed by the same guy who directed Lilya 4-Ever. It looks so good, but IMDB doesn't have a lot of info on it.

Last year I started collecting empty Snapple bottles. For no reason at all.
I still have some stashed away in my closet in my old guitar case, hahaha. I gotta get those recycled soon...
Oh, but I used to collect Pokemon and Beanie Babies too of course. But then Pokemon got banned from my school because kids were getting into fights over them. (By the way, I had an awesome holographic star card once that some loser ripped me off with by trading me a diamond card for it. He totally convinced me it was a better card when it was clearly NOT.)
I think I gave away all my Beanie Babies or something, I don't know.

They were like little disc things that you would pile on top of each other and try to flip over. Some major friendship crisises occured because of those things.

I have a very small elephant collection. Small in that there's probably less than ten of them, and small in that they're figurines and such.
I also, completely unintentionally, collect odd bits and bobs that I, for some reason or another, think will somehow be "useful" in the future. I tend to think that maybe I could use them in an art project, but those odds and ends just wind up taking up space. I hate throwing things away-- what if I need it later? My mother thinks that I hoard things complusively; it's a type of OCD. But she's going to have to take me to a doctor first, I don't believe it.

Boomerangs and ladles.....that was a horribly subtle and not amusing movie reference from a very amusing movie.
actually I in fact collect worthless gift shop gifties from gift shops spanning the globe. and by that I mean 6 from california and 1 from france.
also legend of zelda games; some day I'll actually buy something to play the things on.

Some major friendship crisises occured because of those things. I think it's telling about the kind of school I went to that we use to play Pogs For Money, with coins in place of the actual Pogs. When someone lost a lot of money, they'd usually just mug the person they were playing, and then there'd be all out stabby-stabby-knifey war for a couple of weeks... Ah, those were the days. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I collect disney Memrobillia. Mainly from the 1930's Though lately it's been stuck in boxes without any appreciation so i think i'll sell it all off.
I collect a lot of crap that people would never think to get at op shops because it's so weird, doesn't fit with the decor or is just plain ugly. But it always turns out to be worth a lot. or is just unusual and very interesting.
I also collect owls, gremlins and barbies. I'm trying to find a new thing to start collecting one that i wouldn't want to sell off.
