Yeah, it's better to put it into context like that. Very much more reassuring. Still, I can't imagine where all the time in front of pubs has gone. Agggh. Smoking Bans. Don't mention them to me. I'm still in denial... At least you've got time to enjoy the summer weather.

i used to collect bits of paper (notes, recipts, etc) i found on the ground but i don't do that anymore.
my grandmother collected all things virginia woolf and i inherited them. so i've been slowly making my way through all the novels (and they're all super old fabric covered), biographies, diaries, letters (all 6 volumes of them) and reading the notes she made on all of them and its so amazing because i never met my grandmother and its like learning about two people at once, virginia woolf and my grandmother. plus virginia woolf is a fucking fabulous author. if i ever find an author i love as much as my grandmother loved virginia woolf i'm absolutly going to do the same thing.

I pretty much save everything I get my hands on.....concert tickets.....setlists.......movie tickets.
What I really do collect is self portraits made by artists/bands. I get them myself after or before concerts. It's a wonderful hobby, don't try it!

I don't collect video games exactly, i just have an awful lot of them. I've discovered some of them would now sell for almost £200 I used to play Warhammer and Magic: the gathering, but I never had anyone to play with. I used to play Warhammer/WH 40 000 as well, apart from the playing which couldn't occur due to lack of opponents!

i have an extremely unhealthy amount of Buffy and Angel memorabilia that my mum screams at me about every couple of months because it takes up nearly the whole loft and shed. i tell her it'll be worth a few bob some day and ill buy her a nice zimmerframe. She then beats me up.

I still have shitloads of beanie babies and pokemon cards. The newest thing for kids seems to be Webkins interactive stuffed animals.

I forgot about beanie babies. Sadly, I think I have about 200 in my basement.

i used to collect beanie babies but it was a really terrible thing because it was sort of a turning point in my childhood when some precocious bitchgirl came over to play and saw that none of my beanie babies still had their tags on and told me that cutting off the tag of a beanie babie wasl ike the worst thing one could possibley do because it depreciated their resale value and from then on i didn't cut off anymore tags and i even bought tag protectors and never played with them because i didn't want to ruin them plus they never developed personalities and they were ridiculed by the other stuffed animals for having paper hearts attached to their ears and when i got my own room they moved out to the garage where they were ruined by a flood while my other stuffed animals and the beanie babies with out tags were safe on my bed.

Beyond the usual DVDs, books and records, I collect comic books and action figures; as far as action figures go, my Buffy and Angel collections are the most impressive (although I've still yet to get anything from the Giles and Faith waves, because Giles looks all old and Faith looks like Debbie Gibson). I've just started collection the Popco Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix figures, too, because they're so cheap and they're made of awesome, and I can totally see myself forking out fifty quid for the playset because I need a little plastic Maggie Smith. My priorities, they are so right...
I also have unspeakable ammounts of Disney Princesses merchandise.

That was the most touching run-on sentence I have ever read. The same thing happened to me! I used to have so much fun with my beanie babies, creating tornadoes and floods with my imagination and having them seek refuge by pulling together as loving bean-filled creatures do when disaster strikes. My imagination flourished with them until I learned that they depreciated severely once their tags were cut off. From then on, I did the same (bought protectors and cases and stopped playing with them). I think that marked the decline of my childhood. I never sold any of them either, and I probably never will.

I don't really collect anything.
I go through stages, at Christmas it was sheep things and rubber ducks.
But, due to my friends (as per usual), i gave up the duck thing.
Meh, i go through stages.

Why would you give up collecting something because of friends?

My friends laugh at the types of movies I am amassing in my DVD collection, but it bothers me not one bit. Their loss.

Same! But I was told early on to never play with my beanie babies and I had alll the little tag protectors and stuff. This was proabaly because I wanted this extremely expensive dragon one when I was little, and then I got it, and then I gave it a tag protector. It didn't really stop me from playing with them though- I think all the other stuffies knew the dragons and unicorn were special cos they had tags. The other beanies either lost their tags, or I thought their names were stupid (Like otto. And roary. And hissi.) And I just took off the tags and said, to the lion, "You name is Murdoch" And I took off otto the otters tag and named him Ferrett. I mean, It's not like I'll ever sell them anyways. I did the same thing with pokemon cards- They're just prescious figments of childhood.

My friends laugh at the types of movies I am amassing in my DVD collection, but it bothers me not one bit. Their loss. Me too. My friends are, like, massive gore and horror film fans; and they totally snort at my art-house collection. Until I lend the DVDs to them and they come back with huge, starry eyes, crying, "Wow! I loved it!" Aye, really? Nice.
