Can I be really lame and admit that I've never actually understood how tabs work?
They're a secret language I've never been let in on.

oops I forgot to mention about tunings for railway house.
Soprano ukulele regular tuning is GCEA.
For a guitar or baritone ukulele its regular tuhning but with a capo on the 5th fret.
I think. Dont have any instruments to hand right now.
PS - Micheal, each line of a tab corresponds to a string. THe number is the fret you play.

I-1---3---1---0---- I-3---3---3---1---- I-2---0---2---2---- I-0---0---0---2---- Try that for railway house on soprano ukulele. If you have a guitar/baritone ukulele you will need a capo on the 4th or 5th fret I cant remember which. he he he! when the tuning's right, well it works aswell! But, and 'cause I'm not that trained, I rather play it I-1---3---1---0---- I-3---3---3---3---- I-2---2---2---2---- I-0---0---0---0---- So that the "melody" remains on the 4th string (don't know if I made myself "clear") Chaalut!

Well, here's my way of playing Wolf Song on, er...., my banjo tuned DADF# Always play the first two strings on these frets, and 0 for the two others:
"Walk tall beneath..." 5, 7, 9, 12 (or 0) repeat as often as needed and end this part playing: 5, 7, 9, 7
“The moon…” 0, 0, 5, 7 end up this part 0, 0, 5, 7, 9
"I know just where…" 5, 7, 9, 12 (0), and so on…
Note: if you're picking, you'de better play the "9" as follows: F#-------0-------0-------0 D------------0------0------ A---------------7------7--- D----9---------------------
And play it open ("0" everywhere) instead of "12" for the... "12" part. Dunno if it's clear... tell me otherwise and I'll struggle to write the full tabs

Wow! Yey! After weeks of searching there are some Wolf children that love Patrick (and the uke) as much as me. Boy, am I glad that I found these beautiful posts by you people... I thought it would have to do to play the guitar again! I will give the railway house a play later. Does anyone know if 'Wind in the Wires' is played on soprano or baritone. On the album version the intro sounds like a soprano but I am sure he played the baritone live. I think maybe Patrick uses open tunings as well... can anyone confirm this? PS. Did anyone here go to the show at stoke?

I'm planing to cover "short stories" for the Patrick Wolf cover album project and here's how I play it:
Well, I "untuned" my flamenco guitar into DADF#AD, so if you're playing on a uke, forget the last two strings (AD)
D------------------0-----------------(repeat) A-----------0---------0------0------(repeat) F#------0-----0---------0----------(repeat) D--------------------------------------------- A----------------------------------0---------------2--------0 D----5--------------------------------------------------------
all the way through... Adapt it to whatever you're playing "on/with", and play only on the D string between the A and F# on this tab, instead of DA => 5, 7, 9, 7.
Don't hesitate if you have any questions, just PM me ;D

cool! although I think I posted all I got on that matter, well, Patrick Wolf wise that is, but I doubt anyone really care to have my stuff on ukulele (and, erm, there is the ukulele message board too ) Anyway, it's nice to have this one here too. I'll check on the MUP board if there are any there that are not here yet. And feel free to spam this one with tabs, dear sir!
