Five years ago while hiking in England. And in that one Youth hostel every morning the owner guy played the Lycanthropy album. And I was like 'Oh wow..that's my music!' So I asked him who it was and in the end he gave me his Lycanthropy copy as a gift (:

Just before I moved out for a while when I was 15 or 16, and totally miserable, I saw the a+e video. So I bought tmp when it came out and it was one of the few things I took with me. It was ages ago, but I do remember listening to it on a walkman in my room, and trying unsuccessfully to convice someone I knew that he was good. I didn't see him live though until I moved to London in 2007.

I bought a ticket for Leeds Festival this year before I knew the line up. When checking who was on when I came across PW, listened to him on Last FM and his Myspace, and saw some YouTube videos, and was just bowled over by his talent, his attitudes, and his fantastic personality. Throughout the 3 days of the festival there was only one clash of performers I wanted to see and that was PW with my favourite band, Enter Shikari, and I'd already promised other ES fans that I'd see them, so I missed Patrick. If there's another clash in the future I won't miss him to see any other performers / bands. I have since bought all his albums, and can't stop playing them - see my Last FM - ctr1945 for proof.
(The 1945 in my user names refers to my year of birth - I really am 64)

One of my university flatmates introduced me to him. At first I remember really not liking it, because the first songs I heard were Jacob's Ladder, Epilogue and The Childcatcher which, in my opinion, aren't the best PW songs to start off with!

I saw him at the dot to dot festival in bristol in May 2009 and can honestly say my jaw was dropped for the whole performance! I bought the magic position and the batchelor both albums are amazing. I will buy the earlier albums as I listen to the early stuff on youtube. Unfortunately due to timing I missed him at Reading this year but saw him at the Palladium. I am totally hooked and currently lending my albums out to friends who are also impressed by his talent

At my local record store they had one copy of Lycanthropy in the "just in" section. I kind of liked the cover so I listened to it and immediately fell in love with Patrick's music. It was like discovering the perfect album, for years I had been longing for some music that combined folk elements with industrial/electronics (of course now everybody does it but back then it wasn't really done) so this album was a great treasure for me.

On a music blog I think, they offered The Magic Position and Accident & Emergency as downloads. The rest was history!

A Tori Amos forum Someone mentioned that he was supposed to do an interview with her, so I checked him out. "Bluebells" to be specific. Definately one of the greatest songs I've heard in a long long time.

Ummh. I don't know if I've posted this before, but anyway. I was in a small record store in Helsinki and found The Bachelor there. I had heard about Patrick, but I didn't remember hearing his songs before. I bought the album anyway and well, I loved it

*is new to the forum* I read a friend's journal on LJ about what tattoos she'd like to get and quite a few were Patrick Wolf related; pictures form his albums sleeves, lyrics, etc. I was in the mood for finding new artists to listen to, and thanks to YouTube, I discovered how amazing he is! And I play violin, so I immediately loved him for incorporating it so beautifully.
