Mmhmm I love her. 'Before The Poison' is one of my favorite albums ever, mind you, I am a massive Polly Harvey fan.
Patrick and Marianne are a really strange combination but it works well. 'Magpie' is one of my favorites from the new disk.

I also love vagabond ways, and broken english. Still undecided if I like 'kissin time', the album with Beck, Jarvis, Billy Corgan and so on... x

Nick Cave's collaborations are fabulous as well. I haven't heard 'Vagabond Ways' but 'Broken English' is great. Billy's contributions to 'Kissin' Time' were good but the rest is rather stale. Gimme acoustic/stripped down Marianne anyday, suits her voice better.

I do really like this song.
But to be honest it might be influenced by Kate Bush to the point of pastiche.. It's like the lost song off the The Ninth Wave.

I absolutely love this song! So Marianne Faithful does the other voice?!! I cannot beleive that, because I could have sworn it was a male voice..

yes i noticed she has got a deeper voice than patrick - it made me laugh a little bit - but then again patrick has got a really extraordinariliy high voice for a man..

...Well it wouldnt fit into the "story" obviously.. but since when did the Ninth Wave make the blindest bit of sense in the first place?
I just have to say if she doesn't die at the end, thats rubbish.
No I just mean musically it seems to take a lot from Kate Bush at her most mystical and atmospheric.

I guess I listen to alot of men with high voices, so Patrick is actually one of the lower ones. try and listen to MEW then you'll know what high is

Aww, mew ;D so lovely! x

No I just mean musically it seems to take a lot from Kate Bush at her most mystical and atmospheric. I can see what you mean by it being Kate-esque, but I wouldn't have said The Ninth Wave. It's a very Autumnal song - I think I said in my review that it reminds me of a Ray Bradbury novel - so if anything I'd say it's more similar to something from The Sensual World, or what the songs on Aerial would sound like if they weren't... You know, shit. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Man its the snoozefest that is The Sensual World thats shit. Aerial is quite good, if easier to admire than to love.
But hey opinions are like arseholes, we all have one.

sensual world AND aerial are amazing! Grrrr *shakes fist* aerial disc 2 is just... wow. x I think Aerial disc 2 has some gorgeous music on it but it feels like its building towards something all the way and when it actually comes.. I find the last two tracks just sound like tired offcuts from Pink Floyd's The Wall, so to be honest that rather soured me on the whole disc. Aerial disc one is probably some of the first Kate Bush music I would play to a indie fan who say loves Joanna Newsom and Regina Spektor. Cos its so stripped back. Mrs Bartolozzi and A Coral Room are two of her finest achivements. I dunno shes Kate Bush ya'knw? She can do what the fuck shes wants and that leads to a certain indulgence I mean Pi is the musical equiverlant of the silly topics I do on this forum to amuse myself "lets see if we can sing a load of numbers like we really mean them, wouldn't that be funny?" was a quote I heard about it, lolz. Personally I enjoy that sort of self indulgence, I mean tis not quite Neil Young making albums designed soley to antagnoise the head of his record company or Bob Dylan releasing a purposefully bad album because he was sick of being called a genius, haha.

i didn't like bishi's on the recording tbh. maybe if i was there i would have liked it, but i think i'll stick strongly with marianne's version.
