Post live journally happenings that don't fit either description.
Tomorrow I'm off to Sheffield; home of the Arctic Monkeys and Sean Bean; to see specialists who will determine if I have an autistic spectrum condition or not. I have no idea what to expect or how I feel about this.

Ahhh, it says you posted it today, but you posted it at 1am, so did tomorrow mean today day or actual tommorow? Hmm I'll text you good luck anyway.
This thread is a GOOD idea because lots of the time I don't know which thread to put something in; or I start on the cons of my day and want to move seamlessly onto the pro's.

Don't people complain about the forum being too bloggy already?*
*I personally do not care, but I've just noticed that's the trend with complaining about things these days

hoho!
jokes aside, i hope that a diagnosis might help you better understand and accept yourself, josh. and if you don't get diagnosed, know that we're all neurodiverse anyway! i know a diagnosis of my learning difficulty wouldn't exactly make a jot of difference to me because i know i experience the issues coupled with it regardless of giving it a name or not... but perhaps if you do get an insight, there'll be a support network and help for you along the line.

What jay said! Enjoy yourself, I think i'd quite enjoy a personal behaviour assesment. And Josh, we all wouldn't have you any other way! (ooer)

i know a diagnosis of my learning difficulty wouldn't exactly make a jot of difference to me because i know i experience the issues coupled with it regardless of giving it a name or not... exactly, you're still the same person, just possibly with a "label" that only has to mean something if you let it. if you are it's not like all of a sudden you'll have to get your name changed to Autistic Josh and only be allowed to reply to that. but you could do that if you wanted.

usually it's josh who does the complaining about that kind of thing but i guess since he created this thread, he's over it? Being as civil as I can, I must say I take mild exception to this. 1) You completely misrepresented me. I've never said the bloggy venting part of wolfboard shouldn't be here, I understand it completely. My only moan was that stuff entirely dominating the forum with the megathreads and little else to reply to each day. The proper separation of the common/community rooms seems to have sorted that problem. 2) This is a big deal for me, you really think I have any spare head space for forum politics? 3) I rarely use the what didn't thread (or any other) to rant about my personal problems on here, and haven't for years. I think for all my wankerish moments, I'm done my bit when it comes to contributing to this community over the last 5 years+. I think I'm entitled to get away with one self-indulgent plea for support/understanding in a difficult and confusing time? Especially since I used it as a spring board to create a thread; that as Florence said; other posters might find useful. Typically of me to write three paragraphs on a percieved slight and only one sentence of gratitude but thanks for all your nice comments. Rhi, you have mad skills for saying the nicest things. You're lovely, I wouldn't have you any other way either Anyway... I'm now officially in the aspergers club. They gave me an information pack with a catelogue of resources and stuff.. including a T-shirt with "I'm not naughty.. I have autism!" I was all OMG I WANT ONE then I realised they only had sizes for people up to the age of 12 ) : I haven't processed my thoughts about an actual confirmation and solid clarification of the appropriate "label" for problems (yes.. we're all diverse but a "label" is.. sadly needed when it comes to accessing a lot of support/services) I've been struggling with since I can remember. Part of me is really pissed I never got ANY sort of diagnosis at school. I think with the appropriate information and self knowledge I might perhaps have not missed out on so much going though adolescence and though over seven years of utterly failing to enter the adult world.. but oh well. The past is a forgien country, I shall order a full scale nuclear strike and engulf it with a big ole mushroom cloud of an awesome future? Autistic community, congrats you just got your Malcolm X/Magneto.

"I'm not naughty.. I have autism!" Want! Also, whilst the "labels, unhelpful!" stance is admirable, I do think that having a proper diagnosis is at least useful in terms of getting the help you need and accessing new ways of thinking. Sometimes, it's useful just to be able to tell people, 'This is the way I think. Here, have a leaflet'. Having worked with autistic kids in schools, I really can't imagine a) how you slipped under the radar and b) how you got through school without getting the kind of help you needed. It must have been awful, but... mushroom clouds and moving on and all that. Sometimes having a diamond hard heart makes it hard to be sincere, but I do think you're an awesome guy and hope that getting that diagnosis helps you in some way. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I'm glad you feel better for being helped, Josh! You should still get one of those shirts and make it into a pillow.

Oh and as for people not catching it at school Michael.. my last girlfriend was never diagnosed untill last year (she's 24/5) despite NOT SPEAKING for the entirity of her educational career, something her parents were also never informed about either. Schools can be poor sometimes. In her case she got really good grades so I think they would have just not bothered to address it cos she created no problems for anyone (but herself).

Welcome to the Aspergers Club Joshy! *hugs!*
Right, ok, so I don't have Aspergers, and am thus not a qualified greeter, but still!
I was going to ask you how this went on Twitter, but didn't know if you'd want to talk about it.
I do think labels can be unhelpful in some ways. People often mistake such a diagnosis as providing a "reason" for why they are the way they are, but really no reason is given, just a single word to sum up parts of a person's way of being. However, as already said, Diagnosis are extremely helpful in giving a person with a condition what they need for success in our society.
So in other words, lather, rinse, repeat what's already been said. And yay to Josh!

zoolander 2 has been confirmed. I hope you're not being serious. That would be horrible! They can't possibly make something better than the original, even if Ben Stiller is involved.
