Daniel Radcliffe supports the lib dems? erm.. that's it? Oh, God, he hasn't talked about politics, has he? This is a kid who really shouldn't be allowed to do interviews. He makes me so uncomfortable. Who's Ron Weasley voting for? I'll vote for them. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

www.fridgemagnet.org.uk/toys/dave-met.php !! This makes me laugh, especially considering "the other day I was speaking to a black man.." is my favourite painful Cameron quote of the evening. edit: "Last week, I met a young grandmother, who told me that Lady Gaga got a free car from the NHS." "Last week, I met a black farmer, who told me that David Milliband killed Jesus." "Last week, I met an African investment banker, who told me that Nick Clegg shouldn't be allowed to stay in a B&B when the owner doesn't want them to." etc. nothing wrong with a bit of truth. typical young folk tuning out the older generations.

Today's Sun has the words "the Lib Dumbs" in its headline and Clegg bashing on almost every page. It's worrying to think that this campaign from the right wing press might be effective in their transparent self interested goals but also sort of gratifying than Murdoch and co are so rattled. I read an article online from a former Sun editor who stated that the papers official policy was always to totally ignore the Lib Dems for fear of "encouraging them".
The Mirror wasn't much better in its transparent anti-David Cameron New Labour propaganda today. I find the slow euthanizing of the newspaper medium by the internet deeply gratifying. I think if the papers ALL disappeared tomorrow it would benefit the country, I really do. They're all just propaganda fronts for various special interest groups, yet they influence the political dialogue quite profoundly, fuck'um.
Also when I was getting my hair cut, I hear a news broadcast on radio one in which the story was controversy over the Lib Dem's illegal immigration policy. The news reader stating said policy with audible sarcasm/negativity.. what the fuck, the BBC of all people?!

Gratiftying in the long run, and it's been a long time coming, but I wish they'd die quietly. So much hate, so much bile, I feel almost physically sick whenever I happen to glance through a paper these days... (Who am I kidding? Totally only read the arts section and the celebrity gossip.) "Mr Cameron has won according to the YouGov poll" - Lady on Sky News.
Oh noes!
Cameron 36%
Clegg 32%
Brown 29%
Should we pay attention to instant polls? I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

That YouGov poll is contradicting most of the others to come out (though it's very close across the board) ..though for some reason it's the one everyone is reporting, shifty!
ComRes
Clegg- 33% Cameron 30% Brown 30%
Angus Reid
Clegg 35% Cameron 32% Brown 23%
Channel4 poll
Clegg 52% Brown 31% Cameron 17%

I do journalism at uni so it's difficult for me to be against newspapers, but I think that using them as propaganda during the election campaign is totally wrong. I don't know think they understand that a boost in sales for a few weeks by rooting for the most popular party may be good for a while, but the country is what will have to suffer for the next 5 years if the wrong choice is made. For the last week we've been looking at all the papers and discussing the election. It's worrying how many papers today had anti-Clegg stories on the front page. Actually, I think every major newspaper did. And for weeks I've seen my tutor as a lovely man but this week he's been casually putting down the Lib-Dems and today confessed he was conservative and my opinion of him fell dramatically .

Conservatives can be lovely men, you know?
A lot of Tories aren't evil (a majority percentage of them perhaps) they just have a different perspective than we might on what's best for the country.

I know but I was brainwashed by my father from an early age. When I was about 5, we were walking through a shopping centre when he said "I can smell a Tory behind us," and for years I marvelled at his sense of smell.

Oh, god... it was the same for me. Poor single parent steadfastly socialist family in Wales. When I was a kid I thought the Tories were the real Darth Vader or something.
I'm old enough to *gulp* remember Thatcher being in power. I specifically remember the day she resigned, the teacher at my nursery coming in and telling us and everyone cheering.

I really don't like how incredibly vile the papers here are, and how completely unveiled their criticism is. And the fact that they OK'd showing a debate on a Murdoch network. Fuck that.

You remember politics, from being a kid? I feel like I should, I was born into a family of WORKING MEN during the miner's strike. But all I can remember are Disney films, Sooty and Neighbours b-plots. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Ayee.. my five to seven year old self avidly followed Heseltine's leadership challenge, Thatcher's resignation, the leadership elections that ended with John Major as pm, the first Gulf War and the 1992 general election. I'm basically a freak or perhaps it was an aspie thing?
I use to really like John Major actually! People use to call me "Major" cos I wore glasses and for some reason this lead to me having an empathy with him. Much as I disgree with his politics, I still think he was probably quite a nice dude, nicer than Tony Blair anyway. It's like I think Gordon Brown comes across like someone who's probably a good man as well. Possibly some correlation between being a nice guy and utterly failing at politics?
