Reviving this threaaad. Actually this is a rant, but period related so I thought it was best to put it here XD.
Apparently, the pill I take doesn't exist anymore. I've been taking it for 5 years and it worked fine for me. And now it doesn't exist anymore and I've got to take another one I know nothing about and I have to start monday and I've got exams that week and the week after. And I can't just go off the pill for a month because the last time I had my period without taking the pill it lasted 2 months, so I don't know what can happen if I don't take it now (because that was like 5 years ago) :/. This sucks.
Has anyone here changed the pill they were taking? Did you have problems? I'm scared of changing (well I don't really have a choice if it's not sold anymore...) and of the effects it might have on me, what with exam stress and everything :/.

I also hate periods, they make me angry and then I treat others very badly and then they get mad at me :/

So much pain this month. I need to go on the pill, and this time I will definitely go through with it. Any recommendations? I know that a few people (Jay and Sarah I think) had problems with one of the types of pill, and I want to avoid that if possible.

microgynon30 is what made me go LOOPY so if they try and give you a prescription for that tell them NO

reading up on it, different people have had problems with every pill ever. Although apparently if you're prone to depression don't go for microgynon. A lot of people like yasmin but it's meant to be harder to get prescribed cos it's the most expensive, and they put you on the cheapies first, but if you experience depression/weight gain/ other bad things, go to the doctors and get it changed.

Yeah, that's a good point, Liz. Thanks I'm not expecting any of them to be a walk in the park, but I'm apparently prone to depression due to family history. I've never actually had it, nevertheless I don't want to risk it.

Since this thread has been brought up again: a couple of months on, and I now completely love my mooncup. SRSLY, I reccomend any ladies who haven't gone there yet to get one.

BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND THEM. Plus, i literally only just figured out tampons the other week. Tampax Pearl = amazing.
What is also amazing is that my period is essentially only 2 days long, the rest is just an insignificant amount HA HA HA.

Mooncups look really really good but I'm just not great with the whole mess side of periods. Can't figure out tampons btw.

is it dangerous to not break ever because that would be seriously amazing and like all the fun of being a girl with none of the technical faults. Or at least the major technical fault.

i know when im about to come on because i turn into an eating machine ME TOO. I feel literally like a bottomless pit. Nothing can fill me, ever! At least not a couple days before my period! I also know when it's coming because I get an ongoing headache that lasts all day the day before it comes. Also, Rhianne, I'm so proud of you for figuring out tampons!!! :') I'm really quite content with my period in about this past half a year to be honest. For some reason in this amount of time currently my periods have gotten significantly less painful/a bit less bloat-y and even not so heavy at times. I don't know if there's any reason for that but IT RULES.

I had really bad reactions to the pill. The sudden spike of hormone intake made me excessively nauseous 2 hours after I took each dose and I had to miss classes and blah blah yuck.
My greatest discovery ever was the nuvaring. It releases a steady stream of hormones so I have never gotten sick from it. And it's always in so it cuts paranoia. (Although at first I was paranoid because I thought it fell out because I couldn't feel it, eep, but I learned.) It has also shortened my period, which is awesome since periods send my pain levels through the roof. Whenever my friends ask me about birth control I feel like a damn nuvaring commercial on tv but it seriously has made my menstrual and sexual life so much better.
Also, I've been told by a gyn that there are no real dangers to taking whatever birth control straight through to skip periods. My one friend has decided not to have a period for two years now because they sucked so much for her. I skip them a few times a year for convenience. And it feels kick ass to say "ha, menstrual cycle, I conquered you!"
