Oooh great Elena! I'm so happy for you!! Heartland sheet music is on sale! (on sale? is being sold...you get what I mean). But the postage is horribly expensive. I'm hoping some copies will be left when I get to see him in June (he's coming back to Paris, I almost had a heart attack and ran all around the house when I saw that) but I won't get my hopes high...anyways, playing Heartland by ear is fun and I'm not used to sheet music that much anymore :/ (but I'd still love to have the sheet music, it'd be a good excuse to cover the whole album with my violin teacher XD). I totally agree about needing seats for Owen shows. I felt a bit awkward standing. I was at the first row so it was ok but it was a bit weird. I swayed a bit and I actually just reaaaally wanted to have my violin with me to play at the same time because everything I wanted to "sing" was violin. So I just did the rythm by tapping my thigh with my hands and just swaying... Heartland is great to listen to in the snow. @ Günther: you could request that in the Request-a-Song thread on the SHzine forum! I know Owen played all the songs I'd requested (well they weren't exactly really complicated for him or on the list of songs you have to "pay" for XD, but you could give it a try!!) The Simon Bookish remix makes me want to dance. I kinda dance when I play Keep the Dog Quiet but it's more swaying and moving around like Owen does on stage. I haven't tried working out to Heartland....it worked for PW's Bachelor though . Shall try it!!

I have some surprisingly good quality mp3s from the Union Chapel show that I can upload when I get internet back. That would be nice to hear, as the show was so amazing. Heartland sheet music is on sale! (on sale? is being sold...you get what I mean). But the postage is horribly expensive. They aren't taking the sheet music on tour out of canada as the books are too heavy to transport everywhere. I just gave in a paid the expensive postage. With it being limited edition and the fact I am not particularly good at working out music by ear, I figured it was worth it for me.

Dot It costs £53.25 or something crazy to get it over here As you obviously already know I am facing a serious dilemma, because I really want it Yes, this over-use of sad faces is completely justified. I really want it, but that price and shipping is MADNESS. There's only 300. I want one

Haha. Made me laugh. His videos are always a bit odd. I sort of like it though, he has a lot of freedom and it matches his music and to be honest, his fragmented way of expressing himself.

@ dot: Aaaaw nooo :/. Well, I kind of expected it....but paying 59 euros for something I think I may be too lazy to figure out...and figuring out by ear is quite fun for me. But I feel like I'm missing out on something, I don't like that. And I told Owen I'd definitely buy it. Alas, I'm not the one with the money, my mom is, and I feel bad trying to persuade her to buy it for me when I know I might not enjoy reading the sheet music as much as figuring it out by myself :/. Blah.
The music video...I just realised that was someone's bum at the beginning. LOL XD. I like seeing Owen! In Win and Regine we just see him at the end, and He Poos Clouds was a bit boring for me, and The Butcher was like "wooaah what the hell" so I like this music video, the image is clear and we see him. Oh and there are other videos I know, but we don't see him as much. And I totally thought "waaah death glare!" at 1.24 XD.

My mind kept flipping between I have to have it, who cares about the cost and I it's too expensive to buy. I just ended up buying it when my mind was in the 'I have to have it' state . But I haven't regretted it since then. Though as I said over on SHZine I probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't think I was going to use it. @ dot: Aaaaw nooo :/. Blah. If you enjoying working things out by ear then you should just work on that. When I do bother to work things out by ear it is much more rewarding than just reading sheet music. But alas I am lazy and not good enough by ear to work out all of Heartland. Though it has been a while since I've read much sheet music, I've become pretty useless at sight reading for my guitar, though I reckon I'm still ok for my clarinet.

I went through the exact same dilemma with the scorebook! My original plan was to buy it if they had it at the show (because they were sold in Montreal a few days before), but there was some mix up and there was no Owen merch there at all (the man was very apologetic and passed on the message that Owen was sorry.. he even left a note with the link to the online store and I'm pretty sure it was in Owen's handwriting, haha). But I ended up ordering it and the t-shirt I would have bought at the show on Sunday. It's ridiculous how expensive the shipping is, especially since I only live a few hours away from Montreal! But it'll be worth it, I think, can't wait to get it. I keep noticing new things every time through Heartland. I get the feeling I'm never going to get bored of this (at least, not for a long long time). I also play my flute duet version of This Lamb Sells Condos for the first time on Saturday (Owen was very encouraging when we talked to him last week, he seemed kind of excited about it himself!). I'm scared for the chromatic ending though, it's really hard on flute (considering we need to breathe and all). ETA: I'm loving the video! I'll have to watch it again to understand it fully I think, but it's kind of awesome. I like Owen's soap creation towards the end.

You need to learn how to circular breath! My old clarinet teacher was able to do it and it was amazing watching him play as he could just keep going on forever without breathing interrupting his playing. I never bothered to learn to circular breath but I should have a proper go because it would be useful.

Oooh yeah the ending of This Lamb Sells Condos....it's hard on the violin too . And Owen kinda cheats because he just slides toward the final note at the end, my violin teacher wants me to be able to get to that note without sliding. I haven't practiced for about a week though, I really should! Oh and I was amazed to see Thomas whistle it . Must be hard on the flute!! I'm always so stressed out when I have to play in front of people, my breathing pattern changes and I tend to tremble a bit, I can't imagine having to play flute in front of others...you must be really good at managing to control your stress! I'm a bit stressed out for the gig in June as I just realised I might not make it because I have exams 2 weeks after that and practical exams that start that same week I think. Oh shit, I hate being in my last year of high school. I think on the 23rd of March I have the music school concert. I'm not sure if we're doing This Lamb...or Many Lives or both. My violin teacher apparently made arrangements so we're going to be maybe more than 5 violinists playing. I hope I'll be able to film it to show you!

I'm probably going to be recording it at some point (probably in April when the festival happens). My music teacher thinks I should send it to Owen, not sure if I'm confident enough to do that. Man that circular breathing sounds useful. Probably not something I can pick up in three days though! I'll look into it before April though for sure! It would be nice not to have to breathe as much. We've invented a dramatic pause before the last group of sixteenths so I have time to breathe enough to hit that high B! The note itself comes really easily now, so that's good (I do play piccolo too though, that kind of helps with getting the high notes). I loved when Thomas whistled it! I'm amazed he can hit the note at the end and everything. And I definitely get nervous playing.. it gets slightly easier over time I guess. I wish it took less air though, I'm always jealous of the other instruments that can sustain foreveeeeeeer. Yep, last year of highschool definitely gets in the way of practicing...we're cramming in as much as we can get this week but there's so many other things to do! I'd love to see you perform if you can get it filmed! Aaaaand I got my Heartland score today! (Only two days after it was shipped out, nice!) It's soooo beautiful and the paper's really nice. No musical comments yet because I haven't really had time to go through it but I am so excited to sit down with the album and take it all in!

My friend basically encouraged me to spend the £53, so I think I'm going to get it, too. Which should really be a , in that case.

I was also completey impressed by Thomas's whistling skills! Glumbumble, I'd also being interested in hearing/seeing whichever cover you decide to do. And yay Florence for giving in and getting the scorebook.

You won't regret it. I love even just following along as I listen. And singing along. (Not that I need a score to do that, but still!) I've been pouring over the score and it's fantastic. I'm trying to teach myself bits (starting with the piano in What Do You Think Will Happen Now?), which is hard enough since I'm not a piano player at all! I might sit down and play through the flute parts tonight. So much fun.

We played the duet for our music class today (as a little runthrough for our concert tomorrow). It's good to get the nervous performance out of the way. We kind of killed the chromatic scales and one of the piano bits was shaky, but it wasn't too bad. I hit the B. I also learned that I have to articulate the word "Condos" in the title really clearly when I'm introducing it! haha

LOL yes Florence! Nice work! It's a good thing you can play all those instruments, now you can play along EXACTLY. It's one of those really sensible choices which I'm famous for.

I also learned that I have to articulate the word "Condos" in the title really clearly when I'm introducing it! haha Oh good!! I'm sure no one heard it if you messed up slightly...I usually think I messed up lots of stuff when playing in front of others because I'm such a perfectionist but my parents say it's not noticeable except for the frown that's on my face when I play XD (that is one of the reasons I stared at Owen's face when I saw him live, it's just magical to see his reactions....). I might be able to get the book....Persian New Year is this month...and we usually get gifts. Like, great gifts because it's kind of like Christmas (although, we don't really believe it's the actual New Year, it's more a tradition at my house, and we have the real Christmas too....). So I *could* persuade my mother to get it for me as a really good gift I'd never forget (she'll rant because she prefers giving me jewelry or new clothes (like a normal girl?!!) but whatever....she's used to me only asking for books, CDs and DVDs at Christmas and for my birthday). Mwahaha. Yes, I thought up a strategy because I hate asking my mom to buy me things. And anyway I have nothing to ask for except the book so.... . But today I was trying to play some songs off Heartland, my violin was being an idiot not staying tuned and I just felt like I would love to have cheats to check the notes...XD. And I was feeling great about myself and wanted to film a cover but then my violin was being a pain in the neck so it ruined my plans. Anyway...The Great Elsewhere @ Qtv is up on Youtube if you haven't seen it here's the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGVFigJYGOcE is for Estranged is on there as well =).
