Jay, my comment was refering to the fact you're the HBIC of Wolfy now Bushman has pissed off leaving you the keys. It was a logistic statement of fact, not a dig. The support for Joeb's idea seems pretty "across the board" to just out and out dismiss and ignore though. ps I saw the secret message but I haven't worked it out yet cos I'm a dyslexic spazz who can't read or seperate words without spaces, anyone wanna share? yeah, and i was just saying my 'i am not pumped' was in reference to the message which was 'are you pumped' or something like that... lol. i'm actually neither, i just thought it was funny. i'm not dismissing or ignoring this. i just don't see what locking/deleting the threads is gonna do. nothing's stopping anyone from making whatever new threads they want right now, is there? or am i missing something... do the existence of these threads stop people from using their own initiative somehow.. eta: and judging by the poll, opinion seems to sway towards either 'yes' or 'comedy option' which... er. doesn't really tell anyone anything.

The point is that if the majority of people on a forum/community want things to be a certain way (we haven't found out if that's the case here yet, plenty of time for people to vote on the poll and have their say) in my view as a group of equal adult peers that's what should happen.
I would promote at the very least moving the majority of "megathreads" into the community room keeping a forum pretty much dedicated to topics of general interest, and one for topics of a more personal/venty nature. Simple. This was always the idea in having the common room/community room. The community room would allow people to be as self indulgent as they like without stifling more "substantial" discussion. Perhaps collapse the music/film+TV and art literature forums back into the main common room, cos people use the subfolders annoyingly seldomly and might be more inclined to reply to threads on those topics in the main area.

didn't i just agree with that suggestion though?
eta: seeing what you just edited in, i do agree. i think those sub-sections are superfluous and i would have no problem in merging them into the main common room if the majority were up for that as well.

while we're here... a french user in the wolf pack section asked about a french forum. i suggested we might have a section on wolfy in the future for non-english speakers. should i go ahead and implement this while we're reworking the format generally? it'd just be a sub-section in the common room (the only one, if we're merging the others into this section).

i'm tempted to re-arrange the main page as well but that might be going too far... it just bugs me that we have only 'general' and 'music' as categories. i think we should have something like 'patrick wolf' and then 'general'...

Much as I love the mark of Bushman's witticisms perhaps it would help the correct usage of the forums if they had new, clearer descriptions.

I vote aye aye Jay, and to all of the reforms which have been suggested. Yay, I like reform.

This really is spookily akin to Obama's health care reform bill. We might not have got our ideal (DEATH TO THE MEGATHREADS/universal health care in the US) but we worked together, comprimised and made a step in the right direction. Bravo Obama/us.

yay reform! now would also be a good time to ask you all if any of you want to be a moderator of a certain section. at the moment we have laura, jess and anne who are hardly here and it doesn't seem fair to keep them as moderators when they don't contribute (sorry, it's true ). what i'm looking for... - i'd like some non-english speakers (preferably one of each, like french/german/italian/japanese/etc) to moderate the non-english speaking section once it's created. - people to moderate the common room as a whole. - and people to moderate the community room as a whole. - someone (or multiple someones if need be?) who'd be interested in moderating the wolf pack, helps if you're keen on welcoming new members and eager to help them with newb queries etc. i'm open to any other suggestions as well, whether it's related to what i've just put, the reform of the board in general, or anything else you'd like to see implemented/taken away.. you can either reply here or PM me, whichever's easiest. i'd like people who are serious (lol, you know what i mean) about the moderating dealie to PM me directly - tell me what bit you're interested in and how you plan to moderate/what you see yourself doing with the section etc etc.

I'll put myself forward as a common room mod. To be fair, Bushman is a pretty good mate of mine and even didn't support any "Josh for mod" efforts on the grounds that I'm too much of a loose canon but I think as a long term regular with a history of bringing good ideas to the forum PLUS Captain Anal himself for the more techincal aspects, I think I'd do a good job. Could help keep it organised and general discussion filled during the post-reform peroid!
I think I'd bring BALENCE and a fresh perspective to Wolfboard admin-hood.
I nominate Rhianne for the Wolfpack mod.

^ i completely agree with you here. i was actually going to ask if you'd like to be mod of the common room i was also considering asking florence to join you? if she likes. and i really do think rhianne would be a great wolf pack mod, but it's up to her, of course.

Me and Florence are a team of the Doctor/Companion, Wolverine/Kitty Pyrde, Superman/Supergirl vareity in life in general so it would be an honour to be a dynamic moderation duo.
I wouldn't do anymore than sticky appropriate threads, delete any spam and move any topics not fitting the general discussion remit over to the appropriate section, y'all know my laissez faire philosophy to the actually "moderating" parts of moderation.

cool dude ;D i trust you'll do a great job, and florence too, of course.
i'll start switching stuff up around tonight when more people are online and they've all had a chance to read this post and discuss and so on. exciting! i should really get on layouts, i've been meaning to for ages. i know it's not really important in the grand scheme of things but i have to start somewhere..
