I'm supposed to go to Detroit at some point in October. And I am planning my whole visit around going to his show. *excited!!*
Even though it's in Detroit. Which might be sketchy. And I might have to go alone. Does anyone know about that venue?

Detroit is completely sketchy. Which makes me entirely nervous about the possibility of going. I wish I knew about the venue, but I went to the website and he isn't listed there. Sooo... Who knows. :-\
What are you going to Detroit for?

The El Rey show will be magical!! YAY FOR PATRICK IN LOS ANGELES AGAIN! NOW I MIGHT NOT GO MY DAD SAID I CAN'T GO TO ANY GIGS ON A SCHOOL NIGHT but i pulled the whole "PLZ FOR MY BIRTHDAY" (because my birthday's in november) and he was like I'LL THINK ABOUT IT so im like spazzing and shaking and worrying that i might not go i'm so scared that he'll stop touring after the whole "i'm quitting music....not i'm not dumbasses" thing. like, what if he meant HES NOT TOURING ANYMORE like the beatles? yeah. i'm such an over-reactor.

Augh, nevermind. turns out I do have classes an extra week. Gah, painfulll.. Oh. booh. I'm sorry! I was actually very crushed about Final Fantasy too. LA is way too far for me. I think I should call the venue and see if there's a way around the restriction! I don't think so... The man at the box office said it was against the law to let underage people in, since it's technically a bar. You could pull off 21 way before I ever could, so there's hope yet.

I'd hate to drive 2 hours and get turned away. Perhaps I should just admit defeat. :/

I've been thinking perhaps if I bought tickets and didn't know it was 21 and up and demand to be let in for my money the might just let me in.
Or we could try to get Owen to let us in. I just want to give him a present dammit..

I'd hate to drive 2 hours and get turned away. Perhaps I should just admit defeat. :/ I don't know anything about American clubs/getting in etc, but why not use someone else's ID and dress smartly and wear your fringe out- cover as much of your face as possible. If that is you in your Avatar then I think you could easily pass for 21. And the people who check ID's tend to be blind oafs because I've used ID's that look NOTHING like me, seriously nothing at all, and they've worked! You just need to be confident.

act like you're doing nothing wrong and it's quite a usual thing and they shouldn't suspect you it's like getting backstage, act like you're meant to be there and half the time no one will say anything

Patrick is booked at the Paradise (traditionally an 18+ venue), but it says that the show is all ages of the Pitchfork site.
His gig has yet to show up on the Paradise's website (not surprising), but I'd like to see if it's 18+ before I start to try to convince my parents that seeing Patrick Wolf is worth going down to Boston on a Thursday and probably missing school the next day...

excuse my ignorance, but where exactly is palisade? or is it even a place? ho ho, palisade is not a place. I am just silly. I've been thinking perhaps if I bought tickets and didn't know it was 21 and up and demand to be let in for my money the might just let me in. Or we could try to get Owen to let us in. I just want to give him a present dammit.. Ticketweb makes me nervous though: "This event is 21 and over. Any Ticket holder unable to present valid identification indicating that they are at least 21 years of age will not be admitted to this event, and will not be eligible for a refund." :C It would be easier to borrow someone's ID if I actually had friends, and I honestly don't. But thanks for the suggestion, but I don't know how I could. Hrm. The PW myspace posted a bulletin. It's 18+, sorry. Here's the dates with ages: Fri/Sep-30 Philadelphia Fillmore at TLA AA Sat/Oct-01 Washington Black Cat AA Sun/Oct-02 New York Webster Hall 18+ Tue/Oct-04 Boston Paradise 18+ Wed/Oct-05 Montreal Cabaret du Musee Juste Pour Rire 18+ Thu/Oct-06 Toronto Lee's Palace AA Fri/Oct-07 Detroit St. Andrews 18+ Sun/Oct-09 Chicago Metro AA Mon/Oct-10 Portland Hawthorn Theatre AA Wed/Oct-12 Vancouver The Plaza 19+ Thu/Oct-13 Seattle Neumos AA Fri/Oct-14 San Francisco Mezzanine 21+ Sun/Oct-16 Los Angeles El Rey AA

That list makes me vaguely concerned. Not only do the days not match the dates (it's like they used September instead of October..), but the Detroit show has magically changed dates, to a day that already has another group booked on the venue's site.
Edit: And his myspace says a different venue.
ALSO. For the big laughs and hijinks. His myspace says "Chicago, Michigan".

Sep 2 2007 8:00P Filmore Philadelphia Sep 2 2007 8:00P Connect Festival Argyll
So, first he'll play at Connect Festival. Get on a plane REAL QUICK. And make use of that whole.. time change thing, to get to Philidelphia in time for the other one. I believe in you, Patrick. Make it work!
