Who is doing guest vox on Magpie? She's a bizarre one. Doesn't sound like Bishi, I know that much.

Can't say I'm particularly fond of her.

tbh i don't know who marianne faithful is, but i think magpie is definitely up there fore best track on the album. i wasn't overly fond of magpie, but it sounds great. very haunting, and i think her voice goes extremely well with the song.

i only like 3 of her songs - wherever i go being my fave.. but this is ok.. not as good as bishi. i do wish patrick would use more 'guests' on his album or at least bring forward his sister.. the live versions of the stars are so much better than the one on 'the magic position' - his sister really makes it..

I do hope that Mr Wolf and Bishi get back together on that album or whatever they were working on, now that they're friends again. Or at least an EP.

Don't feel bad. All I really know about her is that she was a sixties pop singer who dated Mick Jagger, then went on to make acclaimed work I have heard nought of.
Shes awesome on Magpies though.
The whole song is probably the most Kate Bushian thing hes ever done. Very The Hounds Of Love side two!

When I told my mother she was on this album she just sighed and said "I suppose she's getting in his pants now then?". Quite a cringe-worthy moment in my opinion.
ARGHHH. You poor folk who don't check this part of the board! Thankyou so much for these though...I'll be falling asleep to one of them three me thinks...

Magpie sounds good but i think i prefer the original ukulele one because it's less cliche. the piano, violin scaling down (the violin part is realllly great) and the harmonies sound beautiful but the feeling is less unerving and that's what i loved about the ukulele one. that klanky harsh sound with the tender vocal was very special.
i understand that he probably wanted to depart from the folky sound but i find the original more powerful and more original since with the piano it sounds a whole more kate bushy.
also the part where they switch to talking is annoying the hell out of me. it really doesn't add a thing to the song. it actually takes a lot of the bite of mystery out of it.
and i must say i can't fucking stand the talking in the songs. it sounds cheesy and usually the lyrics in those parts are not that great to stop the singing for in the first place!
