Fuck Love Music Hate Racism.
They're anti-freedom of speech therefore minor fascists themselves.

It makes my laugh how nearly everyone ignores the political implications of these supposedly politic gigs as well.. to be honest it's just an excuse for a gig really isn't? 90% of it at least the rest is just an excuse to feel "right on" for being against racism, which any stable non-moron is anyway.
People never look into the wider implications of these groups agendas, I wonder if Patrick has?

I do somewhat agree there, Josh. Is this raising money for racism? How exactly would that be used if it is? I dunno...I just don't see how a gig can help the perceived continuing problem with racism...
But in the end, even if there are much better reasons to hold a fundraiser, it's still a gig. I'd imagine most people in the audience at any fundraiser gig are only there to see the bands play.

Is this raising money for racism? Yeah, the annual Ku Klux Klan fetes and cake sales aren't bringing in the funds needed to maintain racism anymore

The original Rock Against Racism gigs back in the seventies had some validity as a statement of positive intent in a economically crumbling Britain, that like all struggling nations was in some quarters starting to blame and lash out at minorities with the rise of the National Front and so forth. The original Rock Against Racism was also very much driven by the punk groups and artists of the time as a cultural reaction to both the far-right creeping into punk and mainstream artists like Eric Clapton starting to make rather off colour racial comments (ironic really considering his made his career out of leeching off black music..)
I can see that with the current trend to bash asylum seekers and immigrants and the continuing rise of The BNP (who I hate with an almost personal passion) there is certainly a place for this kind of dialogue to come from musical artists. However I think the LMHR's policy of pressuring for the BNP to be "denied a platform" (liberal doublespeak for government censorship) is a horrible way of addressing the problem.
I actually read on the LMHR site a retort to the concerns of people who might feel they are as an organisation going against freedom of speech in trying to stop BNP representatives speaking at universities etc that said something along the lines of "well do you think a BNP lead Britain or any fascistic one would allow freedom of speech?" yes, a serious group of political activities supposedly on the side of liberality are actually fundamentally putting forward "two wrongs make a right" as a serious political argument! Fucking hell..

Why is Patrick at a festival for ROCK, of all things. It's like Cliff Richard doing a Hip Hop Against Homophobia gig. Edit: MARCH?!

oh man! If it is!!! I'll have to adjust my vacation! ...good thing I haven't booked anything yet! edit: actually, does anyone think it would be worth it? Probably would take a whole day, be expensive, and Patrick would probably only play for like 1/2 hour or something. Meh, maybe I'll just go shopping. This isn't to say I wouldn't enjoy a Patrick show - but not in this context.
