I'm not sure Melba, I guess I'm thinking of like .. what sort of memory would I prefer?? that he cancelled for whatever reason or he had a off night?? Ha! if that makes any sense?

Either way I don't think anyone would ever be satisfied That's why this whole debacle is so upsetting, it's a catch 22.

Yeah you're absolutely right. I was thinking after I wrote my rant .. then changed it and ranted more .. that there's no right or wrong answer here and I guess you can't please everybody.
I hope Patrick takes a good deal of time off... goes somewhere nice on holiday (NEW ZEALAND!) and takes some time out. ;D

this is what i hatepeople do behave like that when they're completely sober and drug free heck, i behave like that occasionally, nothing is going right that day and you just want to quit it for a while and sit and think and calm down or sleep why must you decide that he is on drugs ? what a silly assumption YES IT'S BEST NOT TO SPECULATE ON THE INTERWEBZ OR ELSE WE'LL GET ANOTHER DISASTER THREAD! I agree people were upset over his performance or lack thereof, but let's keep our opinions to ourselves for the sake of everyone's dignity. The opinions of those people who were at the show don't reflect the majority of the people on this board, so if an outsider reads this we don't want them to think that everyone feels this way, eh? ;D Okay, so I absolutely adore Patrick and wasn't there on the night so I can't comment, blahdiddyblah. There's still nothing I hate more than censorship. I agree that we should keep the speculation to a minimum as that's how rumours start and upsets occur, but there's no reason why people shouldn't voice their opinions/disappointment regarding his apparent under-performance at this gig. So I have a question to those who were there: what were the audience doing that was disrespectful and made him so pissed? It really makes me upset and angry to think that people were being dicks to Patrick, especially when he was performing for them...

thankyou jachie! that's exactly what i've been trying to get across and you summed it up nicely.
as far as i could tell there was only *one* person who was remotely disrespectful when they yelled out a joke request for 'grace kelly' other than that everyone around me was either in awe of him or wildly clapping and whooping in appreciation.
i dont' know where the idea came from that the crowd was disrespectful. the whole front few rows were showing their love in gigantic buckets of glitter!

Hahaha, no worries. Ah, okay, thanks for the clarification. I didn't mean to imply everyone there was a tosser, I was just under the impression, from this thread and the "Australian Tour" one, that there were "rude" comments made from some people in the crowd that riled Patrick up.

I don't think it was the audience at all. I think the audience was actually very supportive of him, especially since everyone cheered a lot and got into it and had fun even though he stormed off. And he also said it was the best show of the tour, which I don' really get.
Melba is right, it was a Catch 22. I think if he cancelled I would feel even worse, especially since I paid like $200 to go down and see him. In hindsight, the concert wasn't ALL bad. During the last four songs it was like he was back to normal and having fun again. I don't feel angry at him at all, I just feel sad for him because he was sad. And it wasn't the nicest way to round up a year of Patrick-ness.
But I can see why people would be annoyed at spending their money, seeing as he did only play for like an hour or so.

I'm sorry but when did he 'throw' glass on any of the fans?? I was there front row, and all that happened was he smashed a glass when he fell on the ground (but even so, that was half way into the stage). I think people are trying to (uneccessarily) dramatize his 'outburst'. It's unfair. And honestly, I thought it was a good show. He is who he is and his antics are not so foreign to us anyway (remember when he told his drummer to "f*ck off" at the misshapes gig in NYC? lol

there's lots of different bits of my brain replying to this, including one that i suspect of being a bit too much like heat magazine that's saying "well he certainly keeps us talking" mainly i agree with everyone else though. There must be a reason for it, but unlucky audience much?

Precisely...I can't speak for the rest of the gig, as I wasn't there. But I watched a couple of videos on You Tube from it (black is the color/bluebells and overture) and they looked wonderful! And his cover of black is the color was amazing. If those two videos are anything to judge the rest of the show by, then I don't really see why anyone would complain about it (his performance that is)...The videos kind of reminded me of the show that he did in DC...

Wow...it's made it onto Patrick's wiki page:
On 11th November 2007 at a concert at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne, Australia a heckler loudly requested that he play a Mika song to which he responded with "I believe there is a diseased person in the audience."
No mention of said strop though.

Well someone reported that they were "showered with glass" unless they were over-dramatizing. But I wasn't even there, so I guess I'm over-estimating things in my brain here.
I've sort of gotten over this whole fiasco today. I realize it was only one show, it's not like he does this every other night. And it's been a long, long tour. It's just a bit frusterating for me to hear about him loosing his cool on stage, you know? Just like it would be for any other artist I like. At least he finished though, and hopefully he wants to make sure it never happens again.
Like I said before, shit happens. It's all good in da hood.
Hah, "diseased person".
