Hmm, possibly use a lgihtened then, but don't go all the way to blonde, just lighten the base and add a red tone on top, it should take well.
I'll answer better when I'm not so tired.

I'll have a look and ask around a bit in shops tomorrow, but that's what I'll probably end up doing, yeah. I really like the dye I used (Garnier Nutrisse cream 4.6) so knowing me I'll stick to that. don't worry about it, I appreciate it

I like this minus the mullet thing going on so basically i'm in love with the fringe. I need loads of layering at the back theres just too much hair to style and look after all the time.

I'm assuming your natural colour is quite dark, I would recommend L'oreal Recital Preference, which will lighten without having to bleach it first. Of course, this depends on your natural hair colour, and the colour you want to redo your roots. It's not as hard to do it yourself as you'd think, get a friend to help. yes, i would recommend recital prefrence i cant remeber what colour i used, but the woman on the front has short hair violet red? something like that, the colours gorgeous and it lasts ages

erm.. Post-bleach, pre-dye, haha. I left it in the roots for a bit longer to make sure they wouldn't end up too dark... a bit too long perhaps! also got a few dark spots behind my right ear, heh. Reckon it'll be easily covered up with dye though, that red's not too far from what I actually wanted, funnily.

That's going to be pretty easy to cover with hairdye.

It did look pretty decent like that, but now it's dried completely and it just looks like a really badly faded orange, hah.

i bleached my hair and dyed it pink straight after
it was pretty cool for a few days
then it started to wash out
and i had absolutely revolting peach-coloured hair.

iv decided to stop dying my hair so much, so im using these little bottles of wash in wash out treaments from superdrug. it comes in a little silver bottle, in the hair dye aisle, often next to the wella shaders and toners. its 99p, and the bottle is up to 3 applications. im using the dark red and its covered up my roots and blended into my colour fine. no ammonia aswell and they smell lovely
also, iv just tried pantene prov time renewal intensive treatment shots after i coloured
i think they are superb if your hair feels a bit brittle after dying and bleaching. i left one on wrapped in a hot towel for about 20 minutes and the colours amazing now, and really shiney

L'oreal Colour Pulse in Radiant Red (I think that's what it's called) is an excellent non-permanent as well, the SUperdrug ones don't work on my hair now, as it's too damaged.

I would like pink hair, but the only dyes I can find that carry the right colour are all semi-permanent, and the colour would fade rather quickly too.

SMART in Carmine Pink is excellent, you don't even need to bleach your hair first.
You can't get most unnatural haircolours in permanent, as *long and boring explanation*

I'm using this one, but I'm hoping to get something lighter than that as a result. I used the same bleach and dye last time but it ended up much more orange-ish than the picture. And now my hair's even lighter after bleaching so I've no idea what I'll actually end up with! part of the fun, I guess ;D

I think that's the one I used for my hair in the photo of me and P.Wo. (I dye my hair so much I can't remember...)

I like that! I want something like it, only maybe a tad lighter. What colour was you hair before dying?

The only shitty thing about bleaching hair is that it gets my hair in a crappy state. I have naturally blonde hair and then i dyed it black (goth stages through teenage years) and then i stripped it and it went bright ginger and then i had highlights done blah blah blah... anyway now im pretty much blonde with some darker patches but my hair is alot more dry than before
