I feel like you're DELIBERATELY trying to misunderstand me or to make me misunderstand you or whatever. Though thats almost certainly not true. I just don't get where you're coming from or what the point is that your making (and that I'm apparently not getting) and if that makes me stupid or not worthy of respect, I'm sorry. But I never meant to have a pop at you nor did I feel you where at me in my fast long post. I just think it's a communication breakdown. The personal insult was the dig about me taking thinks personally being "You seem to have taken it as some kind of personal attack. Which is so entirely uncharacteristic " This is stupid.

i love beth ditto, i think what she has done is great for the world - about the make-up, i think she is defining beatiful past the natural figure and look, eg, thin. Make-up is different, an add on - like clothes and shoes...the extreme loss of weight to look ''fit'' can effect your health...
...i dont know i guess its complicated..but still good whateveer she's doing...

Oh god. I went to see Pull Tiger Tail at an NME tour thing last night (cue someone saying "well, that was your first mistake" but I like PTT and the rumble strips, so meh). They projected that image onto the screen for probably a total of about two hours in between bands. Burned into my retinas it was by the end of the night. And now all I can think of is, whose job it was to draw the kiss mark on her ass. You can imagine some little kid on his first day of work experience being brought down to earth by that.

I don't think ugly human characteristics should be blindly accepted as "normal" yes a degree of judgmentalness is hard to avoid, but I don't think enough people are trying hard enough to avoid it in this day and age. It's a lot easier to just say "oh, it's just human nature" then actually struggling to be a better human being. Define "better". Sounds like you're judging people for not living up to your definition of "better". You're also assigning very subjective value to human characteristics. Ugly. Human characteristics are human characteristics. The ugliness is in your interpretation. Jx So?

Higsy I dunno, make up, shoes, etc may be an "add on," but we still suffer for them. I can't count the number of times I've fucked my feet from wearing stilletto heels or whatever.

I dunno, i think it's more "Men are not required to shave, so why should I?" I personally think it's gross. I really couldn't care if it's been programmed into me or whatever, It's disgusting on men too. True fact: My sister has stuck a big piece of paper over Beth's armpits on The Gossip's latest album, and made me stick a post-it on the NME before we could discuss it. Oh, I think it's a bit odd too. Like, why do we need it? Haha, I make my boyfriend shave his, but he doesn't mind. Also! I don't wear makeup normally because I think I look better without it. Also, I don't think that the feminists that are ever in the limelight, do a job of making women look good. I don't think they are feminists really, because then they would want equality and not be man haters.

Feminists always get a bad name because of a select few militant or crazy ones.
Eww, arm pit hair. But that is what pop culture has done to me I guess. What was once natural and beautiful now seems unappealing. I don't like that.

This may sound somewhat patronising to you girls, but I had this great perverted conversation with the adults on my college course once, when the topic of body hair came up. Interestingly, all of them (including me) had found body hair most unappealing when they were in their teenage years, but as they grew older this changed completely.
However, they are of a different generation, which could affect this, and I’m broken. So I have no idea how common that may be.

Male gym teachers seem to like to shave their legs though, don't know why. My boyfriend enjoys that to, but I think it might have something to do with him being bisexual? I don't know. I couldn't imagine how some women go without shaving their legs. I hate when my legs aren't smooth, it just feels better when they are.

Has anyone seen that Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift movie? It's horrible, I don't recommend it, but that's not the point. My point is, look at the main characters chest hair. I find that kind of gross.
My biology teacher said that maybe, since people have air conditioning and heating, and people like to shave off their hair anyways, that hair will become obsolete or something, and we will sort of evolve out of armpit hair and leg hair for women. Hah. That'd be weird.

I can't stand shaving my legs. I only shave my armpits so that others aren't grossed out. Oh social constructions, what would I be without you? My biology teacher said that maybe, since people have air conditioning and heating, and people like to shave off their hair anyways, that hair will become obsolete or something, and we will sort of evolve out of armpit hair and leg hair for women. Hah. That'd be weird. Does your bio teacher like Lamarck, too?

Well we did evolve out of being completely covered with hair and looking a bit like a monkey.

Lamarck? My bio teacher annoys me, she is incorrect with many things. Even things stated in the book... o.O
