But I always picture Dumbledore as being very calm and soft-spoken, yet still very wise and tough in certain situations. I thought Richard Harris did that whole thing very well. When I watch Michael Gambon, I feel like Dumbledore has been overdosing on some kind of crazy pill.... Fair point, he does need to chill out. I just...ugh. Richard Harris, RIP, but I thought a robot could have done a better job.

I like Michael Gambon better actually. I was ready to hate him because Richard Harris was so excellent, but like Karanina said, he has made Dumbledore stronger.

I feel like he has to be this powerful, strong, all-knowing character, so when Harry finds out he's not infallible it's that much more devastating.

Who else hates the new Dumbledore? He plays the part as if the headmaster belongs in a straightjacket for God's sake. Why Richard Harris, why?! Couldn't you have stayed alive a bit longer? I like Richard Harris, but the new Dumbledore has grown on me; I've always thought he played it a little bit too wry and knowing, and the psuedo-Irish accent has always been slightly grating, but other than that it's all good. It'll be interesting to see how he fairs in the new film, since Dumbledore's role is greatly expanded in Order of the Phoenix. 'Citing! Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Harry Potter <333 I saw the preview in the THEATERS when I went to see Nancy Drew (don't make fun!) and it was so amazing. The previews are always the best part of the movies..
Still, I am unreasonably excited.

I wasn't impressed with the preview...
it was too damn long. ): I'm hoping the 5th movie will be better than the 4th. I had to explain the entire plot of the 4th movie because my Dad doesn't read the books and didn't catch the movie's oh-so-subtle explanations...

Seriously? That's so weird. I've never been to any of the movie's with someone who hasn't watched them.
Well, I guess my dad does watch The Sorceror's Stone and The Chamber of Secrets when they come on TV occassionally, but he's never read them. Though, those movies don't really require any extra explanation.
I'm trying to reread the books before the movie and the last book, but I'm halfway through the third, and I'm doing a terrible job at keeping up.

I'm rereading the 5th book, but I've got 5 other books on top of that that are even bigger, so it's a slow process. I actually reached chapter 4 just yesterday. (I feel like I should receive a red star for being such a sloth.)
Have you ever played any of the Harry Potter video games? I've noticed they tend to follow the books rather than the movies...which I like, though I thought the 4th game was a let-down.

I haven't played any of the games. :-\ I don't really have the money to be spending on games and things. BUT PERHAPS I WILL THIS YEAR. For some reason, the government gave me a very large loan that is more than the cost of my education. ...I will be using this to its full advantage!
I don't even have any excuses, I'm not reading other books at all. But I do try to read at least a chapter a night. If not more.

Thing is, I've been slacking off on the other books as well. THAT'S BAD. Very bad.
I have, however, decided to watch all of the movies before I see the 5th one. I'm hoping I'll be able to convince my Dad to take me to an IMAX to see it. The last time I saw a movie in 3D was...heaven, really. And oh-so-terrifying. But it was more of a documentary type thing so I'm sure seeing Tom Felton in 3D would be much more satisfactory.....

I don't know if I can handle seeing the first two movies these days. They're so.. LITTLE. But I probably will, perhaps.
Yes, Tom Felton, 3D, completely worth it. I think I saw the third one in IMAX and I didn't think it was that different from the regular theater. Just a bit bigger and louder. :-\

Well, some movies don't get the 3D option in IMAX. Just certain ones. If you see a movie that isn't 3D-based, then yeah, it's just going to be bigger and louder. Which is still worth it, in my opinion. Have you seen any of the promo pictures? There's one of Luna and her radish earrings, hahaha. I would almost go through the torture of getting my ears pierced to have those earrings.

I have seen them! They look very cool.
I wouldn't put yourself through that. Man, I used to have my ears pierced when I was little. But you know, sometimes you're just TOO young for those things. I remember my teacher in about 3rd grade asking if one of the girls had lost the back to their earrings. And I checked, and.. mine wasn't there in one. But another girl claimed it. This was odd. I ended up having my ear numbed, and the front of the earring taken out. And then later, they found that my ear had grown OVER the back of the earring, because I hadn't taken it out in... awhile. I had it surgically removed :-\
I haven't worn earrings since. But I SWEAR the lady said that you had to leave it in for an extended period of time, and I was only doing as instructed. But then, I was quite young.

Oh, geez...that's going to be in my nightmares. I'm probably terrified of the prospect of getting my ears pierced, because my mom decided to get a home-piercing kit to use on my sister...needless to say, it was a rather scarring event and I haven't gone near an ear-piercing shop since then. And yeah, apparently you're supposed to leave them in for a month or something or the hole will..mend.
I wish they hadn't cut Harry's hair. I liked it in the 4th movie. ):

I KNOW! His haircut is going to bother me so much. Oh, DanRad, why?! His hair has been so touch and go through all the movies. It's kind of ridiculous.
A home-piercing kit sounds terrifying. I've contemplated getting my ears pierced again, but.. I've such a low tolerance for pain, and I don't really NEED earrings, so I probably won't do that ever again.

I can handle pain, but I have such a fear of needles. I seriously have nightmares of people torturing me with needles. Which may or may not be enough to declare me clinically insane.
I figured they've just been messing about with his hair so much, because he's been doing original movies and filming the Harry Potter movies at the same time. Obviously his characters would look different. But still. They didn't have to cut it SO short. I can handle the fact that he can't stand wearing contacts to make his eyes green, but the hair...oh, the hair. ):

i went through this phase of wnating to peirce every piece of my body ("dude, what if i put a stud in the webbing between my thumb and first finger?" "do-it! do-it!") so now i have all these strange scars/holes all over. and i've gotten tired of pierced ears, i can't even be bothered to put matching earings in, i think at the moment i have a pearl ball, a blue unicorn head, a dangly horse, and a silver star.
i hate the potter movies, can't stand daniel ratcliff.

You know what I find interesting? So many people who love Harry Potter and the whole fandom and things... they hate Harry. And I don't understand how you can do that! All the books are from his perspective..
