the appalchian dulcimer can be tuned many diffrent ways i use D-A-A but there are various Interpretations.
ive seen a very unclear video of patrick wolying theseus on the dulcimer. its not clear enough for me to teach myself it.
so theseus i suppose.
also i am one of the few that hasnt listened to the album already so could anyone tell me what songs is the dulcimer in becuse ive seen him playing it alot recently.

Hi have been working on some patrick wolf songs for like a year now, sorry am very unmusically talented, but i try haha. not sure if any of them are right, they're just guesstimates. i dont understand tabs really especially the dashes, in these tabs you kinda have to figure out the rhythm cause i have no idea how to write that down haha.Oh and i havn't heard any of the album either so not sure about the new ones, have only got those tabs by listening to live versions. bachelor/turlte dove's on dulcimer(dont know if this is what patrick playes, but its the traditional folk song) Theseus(baritone uke and kinda dulcimer) am quite sure about this one. oh and in the video with bishi the picking he uses(i think) is Dsting dstring Astring f#string, Dsting dstring Astring. dulcimer tuning is DADD but i think he actually uses the baritone tuning cause when he plays it live he always seems to be retuning it. Baritone Ukulele Intro/chorus f#--0---0--0--0-0 --0---0--0--0-0 d--0----0--0--0-0 --0---0--0--0-0 a--9----5--0--0-0 --9---5--0--0-0 D--9----5--0--5-7 ,--9---5--0--0-0 verse f#-0--0--0-0 on the part where he says 'carve the meat before the table is laid+ d--0--0--0-0 where he says 'black sail billows sun hits your blade' a--5--4--9-7 you play this ---5--4---7 then go into chorus. you only sing on the 7 D--5--4--9-7, at this point. Okay.. Overturesame baritone tuning.same in all these tabs pretty much. 0--0--0--0 am not sure if you play three frets, it might just be 0-0-2-2. if you get 2--5--0--4 me. but yeh, when i play this i just repeat it over and over, which i 2--5--0--4 know is wrong but i guess it works ok. 2--5--0--4 Tristan uke version sorry, this is the one i'm most unsure about.. its definatly worng, but it works.... verse: 0--0--0--9 this is the riff and the verse. 0--0--0--9 9--12--9--9 9--12--9--9 chorus 0--0--9-0--9 0--0--9-0--9 havnt really worked out any more. 5--7--9-12--9 5--7--9-12--9 magic position not sure if the baritone version is up. think only the chords . intro and verse/riff 0--0--0--0 9--6--2--4 9--6--2--4 9--6--2--4 pre chorus X2 0--0 ('out off all the people i've known places i've been' bit) 2--4 2--4 2--4 chorus 0----0---0 9----2----4 9----2----4 9----2----4 "to live to love to learn" bit is the verse. hard times not sure about this one, it has the same sort of tune as theseus so am quite confused. there is a really good cover on you tube and think he has nailed it, so check it out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAWRnP2wYfU has also been favorited by patrick wolf, so must be kinda right. Verse/chorus? repeated 0--0--0--0 0--0--0--0 5--5--9--7 5--4--9--7 "revolution resolution" bit. 0--0--0--0-- the second time round the D and A string go "4-5" 0--9--0--0--0 12--9--7--5--4(5) 12--9--7--5--4 (4) thats all the tabs i can really think off that i know.. if i remember more i'll put them up. has taken me ages to compile these and hope they've helped someone, as have got loads of tabs from here too and the forum always keeps me up to date, so thought i'd give something back as i barely ever post! ;D hope they work sweet

just looked at a video of hard times at selfridges and think i have a better tab than the other one. think this one is the one he actually uses. notice how its F not F# like augustine. Verse/chorus F-0--0--o--0 d-1--0--5--3 A-1--0--5--3 D-1--0--5--3
"revolution resolution" bit F-0--0--0--0 you play on the 8 till "Revo"then 1 then drop down to 0 on d-8--1--0--8 "loooo" then back to 8 on "tion" haha this sound so stupid. hope you A-8--1--0--8 get me though, its kinda tricky. D-8--1--0--8

Those chords for Get Lost are right, I think. I've been playing it all day. Just cannot get bored of it. Does anyone have any guitar chords/tabs for Ghost Song? I can't find it ANYWHERE and it has to be one of my all time favourites... xx

You're right louise, you are tuning it up. In terms of it snapping I suspect it depends on what strings you're using as some will stretch up more easily than others. I think I use Aquila nylgut strings and don't have problems tuning up. Another thing to try is tuning it up to g#, leaving it like that for a few days then try tuning up to a, so you're gradually tuning it up rather than trying to increase a tone in one go.

thank you, i'll try that did it work? what tuning did you have yours in before? because mine was in DGBE, like the top 4 strings of a guitar, so to get the DADFs I tune the G down then the B and the E up as thats what they are closest to

You tune the G down all the way to A? Surely that takes it lower in pitch than the D then?
