@cat - he said that he would be adding different videos at every show, but I didn't notice that anything changed, then again we were too close to see it properly at the NYC shows. In Boston it randomly closed and went to his desktop. He laughed said he was glad Safari was closed and started pointing out little things on his desktop but I couldn't hear what he said. Your Palladium show sounds awesome! I thought that was so strange about that gig where everyone was sitting eating - am i the only with an inability to eat when Patrick's around? It was very awkward! He pointed it out several times. It was either eat or get drunk since there was a $25 minimum, of course the food was quite expensive, so with tip/tax the min. was really $35. I know you remember the comment about the chimichanga from the first night! The second night he was still asking people about their food and jokingly said he was not a cabaret singer, but he kind of sounded a little sarcastic at the end of the comment. I don't think I elaborated on that second night when I was so stressed out b/c we were over an hour late to the venue and had gotten stuck on the train, then rushing for the subway and cabs, etc. I really thought we wouldn't make it and was so worried they wouldn't let us in or that we would interrupt him. Literally got there after the first song started. I was so stressed out I was shaking and my friend bought a $50 bottle of wine to cover the minimum (they charged him $12 to open it!). We'd had no food, I was quite stressed out and didn't realize how many glasses I'd had until I was like all happy & calm and my friend was laughing at me. Alyssa the cellist kept smiling at me and winking and I was like omg - it's so obvious I'm tipsy and I was trying very hard to maintain! Haha I don't think Patrick noticed (I would have been so embarrassed!), but I'm one of those giggly clumsy people so I was slowly trying to move these candles and drinks out of my way without making any noise or disturbing anyone. Haha. I was so happy all of the sudden and kept thinking I was going to start laughing and I knew I wouldn't be able to stop if I did. I'm not a big drinker so it went straight to my head! My friend swore I wasn't obnoxious (thank goodness). He just said he knew me and could tell how hard I was trying not to have one of my giggly spells! Also that was the show that he had his rant about the food/drinks and how the venue were not treating his band properly & that he was watching everyone be served while they hadn't been given a rider and they were practically having to beg for water. (AHHH and that's what interrupted him from playing "Armistice"!). He was also annoyed that they'd imposed limits on us after we'd already paid for tickets. The venue's website actually says you have to pay the min. in order to keep your seat! I think I already posted this somewhere but he said, "F@ck you Joe's Pub, I will never play here again." Then he played "Magic Position"and told everyone to stand up. It was a very justified Patrick rant, but it made me sad b/c I figured there was no way he'd be out afterwards (I was right!). William told me he was coming out.I don't know if he was aware of that situation at the time. Apparently Patrick bought champagne for everyone, they brought it out but we were in front of the line at the signing table b/c we had reservations at a restaurant and we all assumed it was the venue trying to sell us more drinks! Anyhow, I've repeated myself! But yes, awkward eating in front of Patrick and he should hopefully have that video. He said they were home videos from when he was a child and clips from an unreleased "Armistice" video but I could have sworn at the other show he said it was clips from a video for "London".... maybe I missed the change ups from the shows. But it was still a really neat venue to see him in, it was so small and intimate the seating was not as awkward considering there was basically 2 feet between us and Patrick when he wasn't at the piano (poor him, he could barely move around that tiny stage). In Boston the stage was much bigger and there was a big gap between the seats and the stage. It was uncomfortable!

Surely someone went considering this thread has been viewed over 1200 times....

ha sorry, just my random twitter messages for now. i made notes though. there's no setlists, at least none that they give to random audience people after the sets. so whatever songlists i'll provide you with later will be an assortion of memories from friends and me, so possibly not all the songs listed. so far each concert has been so different (3 so far), every night a different beginning, every night a different ending, different in betweens, some times he plays the same songs but on different instruments. he's being ridiculously professional, barely any mistakes, not much random talking, much concentration, his voice is fantastic and also the sound in the venues so far has been fantastic. i'm an incredibly happy bunny no coming out after shows though, far as i can tell. though i've been busy promoting patrick to the bar staff in frankfurt to the point they wrote down the name of the current album

Oh dear can you not see the videos properly if you're up close? Haha, aww Yeah the Palladium was the best night of my life ;D Haha when you were sitting right in front of him did you not have to spend the entire time looking up - i find it hard enough to see his face when i'm standing in front of the stage! (The two times i've seen him in Glasgow there was no barrier between us and the stage so at some points Patrick's legs were like inches from my face!) That venue sounds horrible - that's such a rip off! I've never heard of places doing minimums before - did they like force you to buy food/drink?! Thanks for posting the setlists - so many of those songs i'm dying to hear live! I wish i could go to every one of his shows so i could hear him play every song!!! Haha i decided to stop getting jealous about this because i've had such wonderful experiences of my own but i can't help it I just keep reminding myself he played Godrevy Point last time he was in Glasgow!!! ;D (although i was actually crying with jealousy when i found out he played Don't Say No the next night!) Haha i'm sure i'll see him enough times in the next 30 or so years to gradually request all these songs... Wow it sounds incredible Niwo, must be so strange seeing him be so professional! Haha, still remember the time the cable fell out his violin halfway through Damaris, he didn't even notice, and i was trying to pass it back up to him! That's a shame he's not been coming out... i'm sure you'll get to meet him at one of your shows though! I really really hope i get to meet him, i'll probably get there ridiculously early to try and see him going in (although he's playing in Coventry the night before which is quite far south, i don't know how long it'll take him to get here... ) and i'll wait all night afterwards if i have to - i mean he has to leave the venue at some point, right? Not like i have to be up at 7am the next day for uni...

niwo I'm glad you are having fun! How many more shows are you going to? I was listening to YouTube videos of the San Francisco show and someone asked about "Childcatcher" and he said, "I've paid enough bills in psychotherapy to never have to play that song again." But then he played it at your show, right? I think at one of the Canadian shows (god, I watch too many YouTube videos) he stopped playing "House" and was laughing saying he was tired of playing that song because he doesn't have a house. He sort of did the same thing the second night in NYC and he told the audience the address of his old house and that it's for rent. I do like that he just won't play certain songs if he's not in the mood for them. I was dying to hear "Armistice" that second show and saw it on the set list, but he didn't seem in the right mood for that. I don't mind his mistakes, I could sit through an entire night of him laughing and making chit chat.

That's alright, there's no rush Yeah i don't think you can ever say never with Patrick! I used to think he'd never play bsides on tour, and then we got Godrevy Point and now he's playing Penzance at like every show of this tour! And i thought the Palladium would be the only chance i'd ever have to hear older songs like Overture and Wolf Song and Wind In The Wires... I love how he basically could play anything - with some bands/musicians the setlists are so predictable which i don't like. But what worries me is how he's talking about after Sundark and Riverlight putting the past 10 years behind him - i'm really worried he might stop playing some of these songs because he feels he's moved on from them... i suppose there's no point in worrying about that now though! Haha yeah i always like it when he has these unprofessional moments - it always makes it seem much more personal and real Anyway, i've just remembered about my Beacons recording so i'll try and upload it - at the time i didn't because i wasn't sure if Patrick would mind, but i'm sure he won't care The quality isn't great but it's really not bad considering it was just on my ipod. The only thing is i forgot to stop the recording so i'm going to have to figure out how to crop it first, otherwise there'll be 45 minutes of random background noise and me talking to people at the end!

Aww Cat, gigs always come at rubbish times in terms of uni related things! I have to get the tram to and from the Lowry and the station, have a 90 minute train to get in and out of Manchester, so won't get home til really late... and then I have a 9:15 seminar for my MA the next morning. So there's very little chance I'll be awake for that but whatever, it'll totally be worth it! Enjoying hearing about other people's gig experiences, even if it's making me jealous that I've still got a couple more weeks to make and can only make one show! Getting SO excited now though!! ;D

Yeah I know Nat, i hate how tours are always during term time! Aww that's a shame, at least you still get to see him though I only live about 15 or 20 minutes away from where i'm seeing him, but the next day i have to be up at 7 and in 9-5 and i bet i'll be far too excited to sleep at all after Thanks Faye, can't wait to hear about it

so Berlin... we met up before the concert and got there early, which was a very wise thing to do, as well as bringing coffee to go...because the queue was enormous some time after we arrived O.o The Passionskirche is rather small and it felt comfy and intimate in there (well, first time I felt comfy in a church tbh, but we had wine and beer and stuff and Patrick of course ;D ) I got a very good second row seat, bought me my EP 1 and hurried away from the merch table, where William had laid out such a nice display of the S&R vinyl edition, some singles, t-shirts and the FANZINE and smiled so very nicely that I feared for my purse to be emptied, because reason was wandering off. Anyways, when I was supplied with wine and in nice company Abi Wade took the stage and once more charmed the audience and told us she was a bit hung over because they'd all been to a 'cheesy club' in Berlin the night before, it had been 'great fun' though. Well, it looked like it Then Patrick came on stage and the applause was immense, cheering and all. 't was the very first time I was proud of the Berlin crowd...normally they're too hipster to care and apparently have too soft hands to clap and too delicate voices to cheer...properly (yeah, I have a hipsters problem, leave me be, I love hating on them) Quinta and Craig did get a lot of applause as well. He started again with London, like he had in Hamburg. But I wasn't disappointed at all, it's a very beautiful opener He was at our level as in: there where only 3 steps leading up to where normally the alter would've been and now the band was playing. He was wearing some really bizarre shoes (doesn't he always? ) which looked like plateau ballerina shoes or something. I don't know whether he wore them in Hamburg because I was so far away from the stage then. The rest was mostly like the last time, only did he wear this fabolous orange vest which looked like a 17th/18th century vest <3 loving it... This time he wasn't jet-lagged but a bit hung over but in a very good mood as one could tell from the start. The acoustic was great, because of the setting obviously (---> church), but the sound guy was a bit daft if I may say so...or maybe he was asleep during most of the time he didn't get Patrick hand gestures and sometimes even when he said he had to have more bass on his ukulele for example, he might have to repeat it. -_- good thing Patrick was in a good mood He played so many songs I was happy to hear, but for the life of me, I can't figure out the setlist anymore... Best moments: Patrick playing a part of DIVINE INTERVENTION on his uke ;D THE HAZELWOOD!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D (now guess who was happy) Oblivion and Pigeon Song and the stories he told before playing them. ( Pigeon Song: you know that line in Pigeon Song 'going alone to the cinema'? well...he was 21 or so and went to see Harry Potter xD he said before revealing that shocking truth something along the lines: 'I'm always asked in interviews whether my songs are based on real events and of course they are. So the story behind this song...well now I can tell, maybe a decade or so later it's less embarrassing.' LOL ;D Oblivion: I'm not sure I got it all right, I was a bit tipsy, but he kinda told us he initially wanted to write a song about the Barghest, a mythical creature of which no one knows what it actually really looks like, because when it approaches you in the dark you can hear his big claws making noise on the floor and then it's basically already too late, because it will then come and kill you and you won't be able to describe the monster to anyone else being dead and stuff. The way he told us was of course way more entertaining, like telling fairy tales to little children, imitating the approaching Barghest by rattleing with his fingers on his ukulele, accelerating that sound...it was actually kind of scary, with those dimmed lights in a church and Patrick smiling at us like Peter Pan...) Vulture. 'I pledge alligiance to the beast'. church. you know. him howling. the little atheist in me had a good time ;D Magic Position as an encore and Patrick singing in the 'major keeey' with a very dark, low voice, just ridiculing it all xD He ended it like that and before that when he had just sung one verse, he interrupted himself, because he had to laugh about something that apparently happend in the audience. He excused himself saying 'I'm sorry. I knew you'd crack me up. You're all so funny. *pause* In a good way *again little pause* the very best way.' The City, encore as well (he was in a jolly good mood then - due to coke, I guess and us being a very good audience of course - he even had changed his costume and was presenting his sleeveless, black tunic to us, doing something like a curtsey, looking adorable with his golden olive branch on his hair ;D ), when he sang repeatedly 'no no no no' and didn't stop and someone interrupting him by shouting 'YES!' Six moons ago. need I say more? Tuning his ukulele for Tristan: looks at the sheets on the piano, tuning tuning, trying to entertain us meanwhile 'does anyone play the baritone ukulele here?' no hands raised. 'does anyone want to know how the tuning for Tristan goes?' silence. 'erm you probably just want to hear another song, right?' laughter THAT DOOR to the backstage area. It was like...you could see it all the time because it was directly there, next to Jesus on the cross, right behind the piano...Oh there's Craig again, bringing him some coke, oh now the lights are out (the door was made of glass on the top), maybe he comes out for the encore now, no he doesn't the lights are back on again, now it opens a slit, someone closes it again. Patrick was playing some game with us Craig continuously disappearing through the door, no doubt having some coke himself, because for the encore he was ever so slightly out of sync with the others and Patrick grinned at him like a Cheshire cat and played extra distinctly... xD okay, my try at a setlist....without any order as usual London Overture Armistice The Future Together (if I'm not completely mistaken) Bermondsey Street Divine Intervention Paris Hard Times Vulture Oblivion The Hazelwood Penzance Oh du lieber Augustin and then Augustine Tristan House Bluebells Bitten Six Moons ago Magic Position The City hmm looks like an awfully long setlist, maybe I'm mistaken and hardly any WITW songs...well, niwo will correct me so here are some videos for you (I didn't make them of course):

And the Hazelwood, wow so happy for you Faye It sounds like such a wonderful show! I don't have time to watch the videos now (i should really have gone to bed ages ago ) but i can't wait to see them

argh rotterdam. so many people in the queue and it was raining. and they were late with doors and then they just opened some other door, not the main church doors. so instead of going in first, we got in sorta last -.- and what a stupid church. i've been to punk concerts and still this was the venue that will go into my book of most uncomfortable being at venue. they didn't have any kind of bar there either, so we couldn't even drown our really crappy crappy spots in lots of alcohol. simply no drinks were sold. urgh weird. well okay, exceptionally sucky venue, didn't really see anything but sound was good and setlist was as well THE LIBERTINE <3 also: the sun is often out <3 an incredible version of vulture bit of pelicans again and blue moon again and idumea blending into vulture <3 <3 <3 and abi played a new song as well <3

I agree the venue was a little awkward. However, his voice sounded amazing in a church-setting. I believe the following songs were played (though I forgot to ask for the official setlist, I hope someone else can post it though): The Libertine, Teignmouth, The Shadowsea/The Railway House, Tristan, Idumea, Overture, The Magic Position, Bluebells, Hard Times, Oblivion, Vulture, The Sun Is Often Out, The City, House, Bermondsey Street, Armistice I'm probably forgetting some, and I'm not really sure on The Railway House.

oh i had yucky view (none) so i wrote down the setlist as it was happening shadowsea blended into teignmouth, i don't recall railway house. if there was a bit of it, then only a few lines but i don't think so. Armistice London The City Hard Times Shadowsea ---> Teignmouth Overture Bluebells The Sun Is Often Out Tristan Idumea ---> Vulture Oblivion The Libertine Pelicans ---> Bermondsey Street ---> The Magic Position ...costume change Blue Moon House

haha...thanks for that....I don't recall London at all....you're right...he didn't play Railway House... wow...it felt like he played way more songs, but I guess that has to do with the blendings of multiple songs. All in all he played 19 songs...that's okay I guess...

He was in a very good mood in Belgium yesterday, which was a welcome change from his previous show here. And he played one of my favourite songs, Pumpkin Soup, probably in part because it was Halloween. I was flabbergasted by the price of his tour EP though. For that amount fo money, I would at least expect a nice digipack or something. I didn't buy it because of that, I didn't want to encourage artists to inflate their prices beyond reason...... and now I regret it.

Hello everyone!
First off, apologies if this is posted in the wrong board.. it just seems to be the one with the most relevant activity.
I have three tickets to see Patrick in Manchester on Tuesday. I've opted to see Jack White in Blackpool, and instead take the train down to Cardiff for Patrick's show on Wednesday!
.. thus, does anyone know anyone who might want the 3 tickets for Manchester?
I will give you them for face value, or reduced; or hell, at this point, I just don't want them to go to waste and you can have them for free! :D
Let me know. I live in Manchester. Post on here or email address tosh_mac@hotmail.com
Merci!
Tickets are seats 13, 14 & 15 in Tier 1 Row A.
(Not that it matters where you sit in this awesome venue.. it's so intimate)
