I just got home from Edinburgh - I'm so tired (I was so happy I could barely sleep last night!) but tomorrow I'll probably end up posting a very long story about it

Have fun at all the shows you're going to I'm so jealous, i want to see Patrick again! I apologise in advance for this very long story, i hope i don't bore you all I got there about quarter past 5 (which is the latest i've ever got to one of his shows!), and there was one girl already there so i was talking to her. No one else came til after 6 (the meet and greet was at 6.15). They didn't come and get us til after half 6 though. We were all taken in and had to line up outside the door to the balcony. Then we were told to go and and sit down on the sofa that was along the wall. It was really dark inside for some reason. We were told we could buy posters to get signed if we wanted, so i got one. Then Patrick came in, and we all got to go up to him one by one. He recognised me as soon as he saw me! And he said i was looking beautiful!!! ;D He's so lovely! He said something like "thanks for coming through for this" (he knew i was from Glasgow) and i told him it was my birthday the day before and he gave me a hug. I gave him the necklace i made, and I got him to sign my poster, and I got a picture with him (he put on the necklace for the picture . It was so dark i didn't even notice he had black hair again until i got out and looked at the picture!!! It was quite rushed, we only got to speak to him for a couple of minutes each. They made us go back outside afterwards, the queue was quite long and everyone had to go to the end (except for us, we just went back to the front since we'd been there the longest!) And I stole one of the tour posters from the wall on way out I spent £60 on merchandise - i've never spent so much at a show!!! It's because i got the unicorn hoodie which was £35. I wasn't going to get it at first since it only came in men's sizes and i normally need the smallest woman's size, but in the end i just bought it. I'm so glad i did though, it's really big but it's so warm and cozy I also got the tour tshirt, i'd already got the poster, and i bought the tea towel (for the future when i live by myself!) I got a setlist so i'll post a picture. He played the Gypsy King, which i've never heard live before. He said the year before he released his first EP he was playing a show in Edinburgh, and all he had in his pocket was the £40 he was paid and a train ticket back to London. I can't remember what the next bit was, but he really wanted a baritone ukelele. He was looking at them in a shop but they were all £90 so he couldn't afford them. Then suddenly one fell off a speaker and got damaged, so they sold it to him for £30. And on the train back to London he wrote the Gypsy King. He played a little bit of Teignmouth (which is one of the songs i wanted to hear live most ) as an introduction to Bluebells, and The Shadow Sea as an ending to Bluebells. He also played the version of The Bachelor he did in the last tour which i love so much And loads of Lupercalia songs i'd never heard live. Oh, he started off with an acoustic version of Hard Times with just the ukelele and violin. And halfway through the show i noticed he was wearing the necklace i made under his top, i could see the chain at his neck!!! The last song he played was The City, and he came down from the stage, in front of the barrier. He was over at the side and took someone's hand and danced with them. Then he spotted me in the middle so he came over and took my hand, and stood there singing. Then he kissed my hand and went away to the other side! I was standing grinning for so long!!!!!! ;D Afterwards I couldn't decide whether to wait or not. I really wanted to meet Patrick again and i was staying in Edinburgh, but i'd already met him and i didn't want to seem greedy or stalkerish. I was just about to leave when i ended up talking to a girl who was waiting by herself. So i just stayed to keep her company (which also gave me an excuse to wait ) We were the only ones waiting! We were talking to all the band when they came in and out, and Cock n Bull kid. She was so nice, she gave us hugs to warm us up and said she'd text Patrick and tell him to hurry up. Finally he came out about 12 - when he saw me he said "Hello Catriona", and he was still wearing the necklace!!! Even though he'd changed clothes at least 3 times. He said he loved it I told him i wasnt being a stalker, i was just keeping the girl i met company since i was staying in Edinburgh. He said something like "you're not a stalker!" I told him i stole a tour poster and he said it was ok cos it would probably just get thrown in the bin anyway. He stood and talked to us for about 5 minutes, and i got him to sign my setlist. And when we were leaving i said something like "Bye, it was really nice meeting you again, i'll see you next time", and he gave me another hug Ok that's my story finished - i'm so sorry for making it so long!!!! I'll try and upload the photos i took, they're probably really out of place in this thread but oh well. Edit: I thought it was William who was in charge of the meet and greet and merchandise, but no one else seemed to think so. But I've seen more pictures of William since and it was definitely him. I just remember gradually handing him the entire contents of my purse!

Thank you!!! Looking forward to hearing your reports Niwo I saw that episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks about 3 years ago - at the the time I'd heard of Patrick but knew nothing about him and I'd never heard his music. But after I saw that I randomly decided to look up his music, I don't know why. And that was how i discovered him! It's really scary, if i'd watched something else instead that night i'd probably never have discovered his music!!!

I actually did not know Patrick was ever on NMTB until I saw it on Youtube after browsing through hours of Simon Amstell videos (I have a slight obsession with him).

Aw you have have exactly the same story as me about how you find out about his music! I have no idea what made me search for him, but i remember i couldn't hear his last name properly and i was rewatching the NVMTB clips loads of times until i got 'wolf' and then was in awe/shock when i listened to his music.. i'd never heard anything like it before but it ended up being the sountrack to the next months of my life, and pretty much until now! I was pretty young and he was my first taste of alternative music I dunno where the hell i'd be if i never saw him on there, i have no idea what might have happened but i needed something to give me faith right then. This is the general chat thread isn't it ?
