I'm glad this was brought up again as i was thinking about it recently after attending the bandstocks do at 1901 club the other day. So my thoughts are...it should definately have been asked in the Q&A bit with patrick, would have been a very good opportunity...but perhaps everyone was a little tipsy/frozen from the snow. And then i kick my memory machine into action and i find myself wondering did he actually answer the question about Teratology even though it was not asked. He said something about having an album's worth of songs ready and presented to his previous record company, and said company turned it down, thus partly spurring the battle/bandstocks/shareholder situation we all find ourselves in for album 4. Could i hypothosize and maybe suggest Teratology was the initial concept of what has turned gradually over the year into Battle, and that we will in fact see its release in the form of Battle in but a few short and sweet recession ridden months... Comments?

Wasn't the 'rarities' album discussed when Patrick announced BCM to re-release Wind in the Wires and Lycanthropy? I figured they would have all been released through Bloody Chamber Music and not [name of record label he was on]? This is assuming that Teratology was the rarities album. Although the fact that the press release discussed on p. 1 had nothing to do with BCM is confusing.
I've confused myself.
Edit: Loog! It's Loog!

Could i hypothosize and maybe suggest Teratology was the initial concept of what has turned gradually over the year into Battle, and that we will in fact see its release in the form of Battle in but a few short and sweet recession ridden months... Comments? Of course I have none of the answers here. I have no idea what ACTUALLY happened, but I think you might be both right and wrong at the same time. Yes, I think Patrick might have put together Teratology and suggested that Loog * should release that last year sometime, while he was still recording what was to become Battle, but no, why should they release a rarities album by an artist who only had two albums out? So, it got turned down... Possibly... Then, there are songs on Battle that have been around for years, like Theseus and Thickets/The Tower, so maybe he took some songs from his rarities collection and turned them into brand new ones? *Is anyone sure about how his BCM label was going to release things? Weren't they initially a subsidiary of Loog? Maybe I just jumped to that conclusion... I do however also think that speculating too much in what's been in Patrick's contracts is not a good thing, seeing how he's been losing sleep over that in the past. /t

There's a live version of Barghest when he says he'll be releasing a collection of rarities and the like on BCM. I don't know when the recording's from though, so it could be fairly recent (but not that recent) or from early Magic Position-era.

Sadly he didn't released it. I read somewhere he decided to reuse some old sounds and review demos. Also he noticed that the time to hear all this stuff isn't yet to come.
Hope we'll hear this someday..

I was reading new interviews and saw this question: "There was an album of early teenage rarities and leftovers called ‘Teratology’ that was rumoured to be released in February this year – has this been put aside for a rainy day or is it the basis of something else? That’s been a long time coming, really. I want to do volumes 1-4 of Teratology over my next 50 or 60 years. Teratology is about the study of birth defects. If you think about an album as a birth, well, these songs are the bits that were defective in some way or cast aside for some reason. I think that sometimes they are the most interesting; they have a special insight, and are songs I’m really proud of. There have been a lot of albums that I’ve started and stopped because another concept took over, and then these songs sit on my computer, stay there and grow dust. So I’m trying to think of a way to get them out there without there being a big press release or anything…maybe it’ll be just for the fans. It’s almost like I care about it so much that I never get around to finishing it. But I will. And also, if you’ve just released an album, you don’t want it to take the attention away from the album. But I’ll find a way eventually." That's give a hope!

Aww I'm so happy to hear it might be released soon ;D ;D ;D I'm kind of hoping he didn't answer my question - i hate my video (my voice sounds really annoying and my questions are really random and stupid because i couldn't think of any good ones)
