As opposed to the other Lupercalia thread which is about the artwork. So, this album really looks like it could be the breakthrough 'big pop record' that Patrick has been threatening to produce for years. I've heard all the tracks - aside from 'The Future' and 'The Falcons' - and even from the brief snippets I've caught, I love every one of them. 'House' is currently my fav. But 'Slow Motion' (as heard at Koko ) is immense., Fabulous string action and featuring what must be the highest vocal note Patrick has ever reached. 'Armistice' is divine, I just hope that the album version keeps the lovely, organic, wind driven feel of the song. 'Bermondsey Street' is a great pop tune, as is 'Together'. 'The City' I've changed my mind on, purely based on the great live working of the song. 'William', I'm struggling a little to get past the kitsch, but I'm sure it will happen. 'Time Of My Life' is - for me - the weakest of the tracks I've heard so far, but still a decent song for sure. So yeah, very much looking forward to this album landing on my doorstep, and I'm wondering what everyone else's opinions are on the songs they've heard?

I've yet to hear 'Bermondsey Street', 'The Falcons', 'The Future', 'Slow Motion', + 'William'. To be honest I'm happy saving a couple of songs for the actuall album's release But I have heard all the other songs and there does seem to be a linear link between the lot. Unlike on 'The Bachelor' where you had a lot of polar opposites i.e. Oblivion/Damaris ... I am very excited for this album and I love that it's out just in time for the summer, listening on the ol ipod while traversing through nature The recent 'Armistice' performance which featured the duduk was heavenly so I agree and hope the studio version doesn't stray too far away from this performance :S 'The City' just make's me SO happy and 'Time Of My Life' suits me certainly as I enjoy my upbeat/sad songs and it's very pretty....Oh and 'Together' is great too! Can't wait!

from what i've heard so far on my frenemy youtube and the singles, i really enjoy it. maybe i'll be able to say more of substance by middle of next week... but i love 'battle' so maybe my taste can't be trusted anyway and this: 'The City' just make's me SO happy it's my absolute mood-saver song

As opposed to the other Lupercalia thread which is about the artwork. Not technically true, since it started with regards to the title. It just so happens that discussions moved onto the artwork, but it was meant as a general Lupercalia discussion thread

Any lyrics appeared yet for Lupercalia tracks? Would appreciate Bermondsey St for a start. Haven't found any 'Official' lyrics yet But I am bored and enjoy a challenge (Just know you popped my 'Bermondsey Street' cherry as this was the first time I listened to it So beautiful) She kisses him on Bermondsey Street And rises high on the balls of her feet Declares this is the greatest love of the century She fumbles for a wedding ring She's no, no clone from Vogue magazine She is complex in all her complexions Love is here to heal I'm so proud of you But now you must too Take pride in what Is the real deal He kisses him on Bermondsey Street And, Standing brave on the balls of his feet Declares he is the greatest love of the century He fumbles for a wedding ring He's no, no clone from Vogue magazine He is complex in all his complexions (And sometimes it is ''complex in his conviction'') Love is here to heal I'm so proud of you But now you must too Take pride in what Is the real deal Now you know Love, knows no boundaries Sees beyond sexuality Holds this song (sun?) in the palm of its hand Now laughs down on the cynical man Oh, Everyone I see Everywhere I see Regardless of religion We're braver than any faith It feels that society Beholds you and me Love. Love. Two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street now Two kisses sweet. Two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street now Two kisses sweet On Bermondsey Street He kisses him on Bermondsey Street Standing brave on the balls of his feet Declares it's the greatest love of the century He fumbles for a wedding ring He's no, no clone from Vogue magazine He is complex in all his complexion Love is here to heal Here to heal. Everytime he has sang it live he changes some 'he's' and 'she's', swaps the words rises/standing etc Also the end is always different so it will be interesting to hear the studio version... I am probably wrong but that is what I hear as the lyrics + have included Kayleigh's edits Hope this helps

A couple of bits sound different to me (based purely on my recording from Bristol, maybe he changes them? I haven't been to sleep so I'm not listening to the others now) Love, knows no boundaries Sees beyond sexuality Holds this song (the sun?) in the palm of its hand Now laughs down on the cynical man Regardless of religion We're braver than any faith Here is the link to my video in case you want to listen for yourself: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmne-Fwr6wc

Yes I thought it might be cynical and you're right it is ''we're braver'', plus it sounds better. I was using your videos and one or two others for a source Thanks edited it there

Great stuff, thanks guys. Tis a very good PW lyric, and my guess is he'll switch the genders continuously during any performance. Be interesting to see what he commits to on the studio version though, for we all know that conspicuous gender bending, even in the 21st century, causes discomfort within the ranks of radio programmers.

This is my interpretation of the lyrics:
Bermondsey Street
She kisses him on Bermondsey Street and, Rises high on the balls of her feet. Declares this the greatest love of the century.
He fumbles for a wedding ring, She's no, no clone from Vogue Magazine. She is complex in all her complexions, Love is here to heal.
And I'm so proud of you, But now you must too, Take pride with what this love you do.
He kisses him on Bermondsey Street and, Standing brave on the balls of his feet. Declares this the greatest love of the century.
He fumbles for a wedding ring, He's no, no clone from Colt Magazines. He is complex in all his complexion, Love is here to heal.
And I'm so proud of you, Now you must too, Take pride with what this love you do.
Now you know, love knows no boundaries, Sees beyond sexuality. Holds the sun in the palm of its hand, And laughs down the cynical man.
Hear what I say, hear what I see. Two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street.
Regardless of religion, Braver than any faith, No fear of society, Evolves you and me.
Love, woah. Two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street now. Two kisses sweet, Two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street now.
And two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street now. Two kisses sweet on Bermondsey Street.

I'm so eh about this album so far (YES I got a leak but I've also pre-ordered lupercalia deluxe box set so don't yell at me!) I don't know. It will probably grow on me. It is very, very pop indeed. I stopped "Together" half way through because it kind of pained me how un-patrick it seemed =/ it's also a very dark rainy day so maybe I will like this better on a more sunshine-y day...
It obviously took a TON of maturity and talent to create this, so I'm really happy for his accomplishment with the record. But I suppose the truth is that it will always be the really immature/amateur Patrick music that I fell in love with and can't be expected to love every new thing that comes from him...
That said...I still think "House" and "Time of My Life" are amazing and a few other songs are tickling my fancy but since I've only listened once..well, need time.

First two listens and I thought "hmmm...", today I listened to it again, with the volume turned up a bit more and the album grabbed me more this time. Think it's going to be better than Bachelor.

okay I take back what I said recently. I'm listening to it for only the third time and really loving it this time. Probably my first impression depended on my mood xD It is a good album. Not sure if it's better than The Bachelor, but def. better than The Magic Position!!

Ok, I've also got the leak. (But, for clarification, I've got everything that PW has ever done, and support this artist completely, I've already ordered the legit version).
Anyway, first impressions, Wonderful. Lots of melody, fab strings. Too many ballads though to make a 'perfect pop album'. 'Slow Motion' is just divine - currently my fav track, 'William' - all 50 seconds of it - is lovely - "William, be my conqueror" ... a fragile, lilting melody over some Casio analogue doodlings. Gorgeous. 'The Falcons' is another fav, lovely romantic feel, reminds me of the Bath Crescents scene in Oliver. Why? Dunno. The power of music eh? 'Bermondsey Street' is very nearly a contemporary 'Up The Junction' - but doesn't quite make it. ie - it's (for me) not the perfect pop gem everyone else thinks it is. Only song not doing it for me at present is 'The Future'. Anyway, yes, back for more listens....
