my friend lives in Gävle and everytime I go there I wish I didnt stick out so much with my English voice and ways. What's the best way to go about learning the language?/Will you teach me?
(sorry that wasnt in Swedish)

Since I am too crap pedagogically to teach my own girlfriend the language, I guess I am at a loss. The absolute best way is to grow up in the country and go to school there etc, but failing that, I think there are numerous self help courses, and it wouldn't be wrong to take a course for beginners in Sweden itself, and then maybe make your friend speak Swedish to you. Also once you know some words and so on you should start listening to Swedish radio/watch Swedish TV/read Swedish books. Anyhoo, if there is anything you wonder send me a pm or indeed ask it in this forum somewhere and I will give it my best shot.

I agree completely with what Nils is saying. Just wanted to let you know that you can always pm me as well if you have any Sweden-related questions.

We don't need more people, it's easier with fewer questions.

I've decided I'm going to learn Swedish, but that'll be in June. Can I come here afterwards to say stuff like "Brian is in the FUCKING fdfghjkKITCHEn" (that's what we learn in English class in France) ?

"Brian är i köket". Titta! Du kan säga det nu. Men svenska är inte mitt hemspråket...
