If the Tories get into power, I'm moving to a shed in the Highlands.

After taking that test, I'm 28% Green party, and 14.29% everything else. The vote for the BNP was for 'welfare', but that was because I got bored and couldn't be bothered to read the rest.

sorry to bring this thread up again but i just discovered voteforpolicies.org.uk which provides a survey for you based on issues that you choose, with no party attached to the policies, so you can vote for the ones you like best and then find out which party is best suited to your opinions at the end. i got 50% green party... i was surprised! I was coming here to post that ETA: voteforpolicies.org.uk/survey/results/4BC0CF2593A2BIssue Parties policies you chose Crime Conservatives Democracy Lib Dems Economy Lib Dems Education Green Party Environment Labour Europe Conservatives Health / NHS Labour Immigration Labour Welfare Conservatives

Worrying indeed, though I must confess the graphs just made me think of Pac-Man. All this "tax incentives for people to get married" stuff, it's just so unseemly, a government economically meddling to try and social engineer one way of life as THE best way to live. Keep politics and affairs of heart separate says I. ps, yes Florence I did the pressing "modify" instead of "reply" thing again.

I am always green and liberal mostly. I think that the "a vote for lib dem is a vote wasted" attitude could change soon, I think just about everyone I know is going to vote lib dem, though I do realise that when I say "people I know" I mean "people I like" and it maybe says more about me than the political views of the country. The lib dems wan to make university free. I know this probably won;t happen any time soon, but if free is the aim then cheaper might happen. Also, they are pretty good on environmental issues in their policy, and supportive of the arts at a distance. I think My values are out of step with the majority of british voters. There's a lot of focus on defence, family etc which I think the Tories satisfy.
What's bothering me is that as a first time voter, there's not one party trying to sway me. I mean, I want to know! But the area I live in is seen as a safe conservative seat so there's a real lack of interaction for me. I feel patronised and undervalued.

It's because I post here. I attract awesome like some sort of pied piper/siren.
Plus I can see Cleggy being bang into Wolfy. Vince Cable thinks he's ok but prefers the early stuff. You know the pop music our propective leaders pretend to like in a a face-palm worthy attempt to be hip says a lot about them.
Gordon Brown bigs up the solid "working-class-as-sick-in-chip-carton" charms of the Arctic Monkeys and David "Dave" Cameron recently aired his fondness for the art-school posh girl thrills of former Daily Telegraph editors grand daugther Florence and The Machine. I think with the whole "liberal" thing Clegg really should plump for Wolfy, or if he wants to go for someone people have actually heard of, Gaga?

That quiz told me I'm 50% lib dem. And then the other half was Green and a bit of Labour thrown in (I can't remember what I agreed on now, though). It does seem a lot of people want to vote lib dem (my friends, too). We'll see what happens.

This website tells you how powerful your vote is depending on how likely the seat is to change to another party: www.voterpower.org.uk/My constituency is pretty close between labour and tories, which does make me want to vote for labour more (as opposed to green).

corby has the power of 0.67 votes... and our region is always very nearly 50/50 with labour/conservative, labour just manage to swing the majority. haha, corby's like this little red blob in a sea of blue in northamptonshire. but our MP was involved in the expenses scandal (even though he paid back every penny) so i'm worried people will still hold a grudge against him and vote tory... le meh.

I was a bit confused by that website. But it said that that average voter has the power of 0.255 votes, whereas I living in Oldham have the power of 0.051 votes, which I think I'm correct in saying is a bit poo.
Edit: If I vote in Bethnal Green it goes up to 0.732. Hmm.

Mine says: In Streatham, one person does not really have one vote, they have the equivalent of 0.143 votes.
Oh Streatham, that's not good is it? Haha.
Almost 50% Labour last election, followed by 30% Lib Dems. 16% Conservatives (doesn't surprise me around here, good)

"Mum, are you going to vote Lib Dems?" "I don't know, do you want me to?" "Yes please, that or Green party."
Who says 16 year olds don't have a vote!

^ Haha awesome Were you prompted by Clegg walking along the road in his whirlwind of paper earlier? I wish all party political broadcasts were on after Escape To The Country, then I'd never miss them.

"The average UK voter has 3.33x more voting power than voters in Isle Of Wight."
This is partly because it's the biggest constituency in Britain, and partly because it's a "very safe" Conservative seat. Fucking yay.
"51.05% of those who voted in Isle Of Wight in 2005 did not vote for the winning candidate. These votes count for nothing in the First Past the Post system."
Now that's what I call a democracy.

I agree with Nick.
In fact I think this country needs a Clegg up in the Nick of time, so call up the Cable Guy and turn down that Brown-sound.
Realise!
I'm not a professional political script writer.. why?

Well I bloody well missed it didn't I? I totally forgot about it. Maybe I can watch it online later. Lots of people on facebook are pretty Pro Lib-dems right now, others telling them to 'shut the fuck up like they should', and a few saying Clegg is way out of his league.
One girl said 'why are so many students pro Lib-Dems, are you mental?' and then said Conservative all the way. I find that confusing because of her background but I guess I still don't know enough.
