(: I've seen both. A constant though is a pretty unique (and I've seen a lot of gigs in my time) element of reverence to Patrick, and therefore, the audience mood is influenced totally by how HE is feeling on any given night. On the downside, invariably every gig features a person who has heard nothing but TMP (the single) and fancies Patrick - who will be there drunk, shouting out for TMP and basically ruining the night for anyone else within earshot.

True, but there's a good 10 for every one of those people who know his entire back catalogue and are shouting for Paris instead. But yeah, its usually a pretty big mix both in terms of age and how wild the crowd is. Tristan gets a pretty big reaction, but its not like a NIN gig or anything.

The crowd will probably dance for the most part in songs like A&E and Tristan, but they'll be still and silent (or singing along) through the rest.

or you could be surrounded by twats who either talk loudly and drunkenly throughout the show about shit like hollyoaks that no one cares about or perhaps people writing in their diaries, making pretentious 'arty' faces, taking pictures of themselves to post all over facebook. you could also have overly sloshed gay boys trying to grope you repeatedly until you make good on your threat to get them kicked out from the venue.
i've experienced all these things at patrick gigs. there was also a girl at a show who stood front and centre but faced away from the stage for near enough the entire gig until patrick asked her to either turn around or give the space to someone else.
can't say i'm too impressed with people at patrick gigs. the london ones are alright, if you don't get crushed or kicked 'for a laugh' by girls covered in glitter.
eta: sorry, i sound really fucking mean. these are just a choice few bad experiences i've had. generally, things are so-so at pw gigs...

I had a couple start drunkenly making out in my hair at one (ew), and others quite mellow. I think it depends on the show, venue, etc...? Like, the first night of the finale shows in 2007 was crazy/insane with no one able to stand/leave and lots of pushing, and the second night was complete opposite. I don't think there's really a straight trend. The crowds are usually really happy and excited before the show, anyway I haven't been to any of the shows on this tour, but The Magic Position tour there were a lot of people really into the colourful/glittery mess that the album brought out... And as a note: Flailing, drunk people are annoying at any show, and they are also always present.

Birmingham last night was one of the best crowds I've seen for Patrick in the fact that there was absolutely no heckling or people talking loudly between songs. None who were near me, at least

Hey, So it's my first time in seeing patrick on thursday & can't wait. (: I'll be there on Thursday too!!! Dead excited now! I've been to one Wolf gig before but it was one of the acoustic ones so obviously there wasn't really any dancing! Me and my best mate will, however, definitely be dancing and singing along to as much as possible at this one, see you there!

Going on Friday to see PW for the first time myself, not quite sure what to expect now, hehe. I was at the last 2 gigs in Glasgow, and both had a really good atmosphere, but both were at Oran Mor rather than Classic Grand, which I've never been to. Really hoping the venue has a good atmosphere. I'm way too excited!

The Classic Grand is a pretty good club, but i've never been to a gig there, so i guess this is the test for both of us. Even if the atmosphere does go off, i'm sure our combined excitement will be enough to pick it up

Well my experience with a crowd for patrick wolf was great HOWEVER - there was a few overly loud conversations during blackdown ¬_¬ and i think accident & emergency had a great reception enjoyed my patrick wolf experience greatly

Accident & Emergency seems to be the song that has the best reception, both from the fans and Patrick's band. They love it to bits.

:)The crowd was pretty good, i didn't really get involved with them all at the front in Glasgow as I'd come on my own but there weren't any problems, and the reception when he came out with Battle and started climbing about the room was am amazing! He's got really good stage banter too, a truly top class performer.
How many wolfboarders were at that one? I wonder if I saw any of you

Oh yeah, i did see you. That was cool! I was on the stairs next to the bar for most of it, unfortunately i did go on my own, so was a little too self-conscious for much serious dancing action. Got a really good view from where i was though. I kept getting funny looks because my hair kept flailing about, hehe. Must've looked stupid as hell but i didn't care, i was having an awesome time. What a night it was! Did you have any favourite songs from the night? Battle was great.
Does anyone remember the setlist from the night? My memory's awful but if I could jog it it would help. I only remember a few
