i think adder's one of the best songs of Patrick. Magic position - then the Stars and now takes the 3rd place "ADDER" - for me Beautiful bright white adder under beautiful bright white sun!

I've yet to hear the recorded version, but from seeing the live one, I feel this is the only one I don't like so far.. maybe the single will change my mind though.

I agree, both 'Underworld' and 'Adder' sound better on the pod cast/channel 4 video than on the 'Accident And Emergency' CD and it is often the case with Patrick Wolf. I think he comes up with amazing ideas, but somehow gets caught up in adding too many sound effects etc. Another example is the first recorded version of 'Bluebells' live in Germany (i think); it sounds amazing, but the re-worked lyrics and the over-use of environmental sounds get in the way of an amazing song. I'm not saying that the songs are ruined, but i think I prefer them in their simplified state.

Though the noises don't scare me, I think they really clutter the song. Ignoring that, I think the instrumentation is lovely, and I like it better than the live. But I think his voice sounds a lot better on the live version. So I'm a bit torn between the versions.

Think of the rpoduction- especially on Adder with it skipping between each ear (an effect he totally stole off me ) and the sheer bounciness and joyful playful spirit is captured so much better. My one remark is that the panpipes work better at the beginning of the live version- (Anne: I found some replacement one's don't worry... not as good, but then he did use an echo mic ) sebxx

I thought the b-sides to A&E were really disappointing, except for Ari's Song, which was marvellous. I detect a slight slip in Patrick's quality, since I usually champion his b-sides and prefer them to the albums......Case in point, Souvenirs (Easily the best Patrick Wolf song) and Godrevy Point, but ach well....

Adder takes me back to when I first discovered my love for Patrick! I love the little yelps and yells towards the end .. reminds me of Tristan. I love it to bits!

The adder noises/grunting/whispering/whatever kindareallyscareme. I have big love for all of the above. PW is a better animal than most animals. Gotta love the growls. Is it "Adder" being whispered backwards at the beginning? I could easily check, but the program I use to reverse things crashes about once a minute so I don't know if it's worth the effort.

Okay; here's what I think are the Lyrics...... correct me if I'm wrong guys?
Beautiful bright white Adder, Under, Beautiful bright white Adder, Crawling under, Now that your friends have all gone away, Don't it feel so good to be alone, No friends, No phones, No questions, No slave to master, No questions, No answers, No slaves to master, Just me, alone, for the first time.
Here comes an Adder, crawling up my thigh, Up to the litle aaaaa-aaa-ooo
Adder! Adder!
