OMG, no topic about this song and no mentioning in the Favourite Song topic. I think afraid is definatley one of the best songs Patrick has covered. Come on, don't some people agree?

I heard the original version by Nico. It's much slower than patrick's version and her voice is kinda special. I like both versions allot.

I fear heidi... her name is an anagram of hi, die! oh, damn. hahaha!!! i have this name in serveral messageboards since about 2 or 3 years... and i never noticed that although i read the da vinci code. oh, and i don't like nico (i heard two songs by her, but that was enough). however patrick's version is good! and in my eyes or ears much better...

Just to keep everyone on track, I did intend this part of the forum to be about Wind in the Wires and the songs of the era, so the b-sides definately count, but I'm not going to be too much of a stickler as to where people talk about them; in here, or in the Patrick forum.
As for the song, I definately think Patrick's cover improves on the original; Nico has some incredible songs, but her voice is to an aquired taste. And, unfortunately, that taste isn't mine.
Although she is fairly useful when the drunk impersonations start doing the rounds...
Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I heard the original version by Nico. It's much slower than patrick's version and her voice is kinda special. I like both versions allot. Totally agree Both versions are great. Nico's original will always be a bit more special, as i've liked Nico for many years and Desertshore (on which 'Afraid' is featured) is my favourite album of hers. But when i first heard Patrick's cover, i was astounded at how much emotion he put into it. It's beautiful. Hopefully he'll be playing it at his upcoming gigs in October ;D
