From Mingo PR's March newsletter:
The LP was completely written, performed and produced by young Wolf, it's a much more mature progression for this budding star! And it’s the LP everyone is talking about – 2 page lead review in the NME (8/10), Q recommended (4/5), The Times (4/5)...
Second single, title track 'Wind in the Wires', is scheduled for June with a new video and tour to follow.
I'll admit I'm a little bit disappointed they haven't gone with 'Tristan' - it sounds to me as if it has the most potential as a single, and it would have been a nice lead-in to that jaunty pop album he's been talking about recently - but 'Wind in the Wires' is an excellent choice.

I love Wind in the Wires and think it's a great choice. Tristan does seem an obvious choice, but it's not terribly representative of the album, and I also think it's song that many people won't 'get'. If the idea is to introduce as many new people to Patrick as possible, I think Wind in the Wires will do that well. It could also be quite radio-friendly, I think.

Yeah I guess WITW is radio friendly but Tristan does have a distinctive and memorable chorus which makes for a good single.
Both excellent tracks though.

I think it's a good choice. After the upbeat libertine it's better to release a more quiet song, and then tristan!!! And i want some mixes of tristan!

oh god i love wind in the wires.
it's a really pretty song i think a song like that could make it a fair bit in the charts. as julia said aswell it would be quite radio friendly. that song is quality i can imagine waking up early in the morning and my clocks radio turns on with that song being played. i would be so happy in the mornings if that happened.
i was thinking the next single either had to be wind in the wires or this weather. he has such a brilliant voice. i must see him live.

The more i listen to Wind In The Wires (the song) the more i realise how strong it is.
Tristian is a cool song, and cool be a good single, but people might buy the album off the strength of that and be disapointed cos its so dramtically unrepresenative

Wind in the Wires actually is one of my favorite tracks! Maybe Patrick should record an acoustic version as he played on a few radio shows, those versions just send shivers down my spine. So good.

I think that's a great choice for 2nd single. Tristan is undeniably good, but as someone else said, it isn't hugel representative of the sound of the album, while WITW encapsulates most of what Patrick wants to say with the album, or something.

Just because its different to the rest of WITW doesnt mean it wouldnt be good as a single.
(Im just doing this to dominate every forum. dont tell anyone.)

I think Wind in the Wires is a good choice for the second single. Tristan is very good and I think many people would like to hear that kind of music. But The Libertine was already very "noisy" and different song from the other songs in the album. So I think Wind in the Wires gives another kind of image of Patrick Wolf than The Libertine does. And as we all know, Patrick is very protean artist and I think Wind in the Wires tells it better than Tristan.

I hope he releases This Weather at some point. What an amazing song.

I love this song...
I really like the way it starts off kind of all PJ Harvey. A great song, can't wait for the video and hopefully a nice bunch of b-sides!

I really think it's a good song, but still a bad choice for a single. As has been said, I would have chosen either Tristan, or a quiet song like the Railway House or the Gypsy King.

wind in the wires is amazing song, but i really wanted this weather for the second single. and this song sounds more like a single, it is more catchy. and i adore this weather, of course. one of the best on the record

I think Wind in the Wires has become my favourite from the newest album, but it took me a lot of listens to come to that conclusion... So I do agree I don't believe it's the best choice for a single. Oh well.

Spikey oh no, the gypsy king and the railway house are both amazing beautiful, but on patricks standard, still very much album tracks
