Hello. My name is Kate and I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. It's a pretty cool town, and I have a lot of fun here. I go to college back east, but will be abroad in Paris next year.
How I found out about Patrick Wolf: I was fifteen and had just started making music of my own. Between the utter lack of experience and chronic tonsillitis I was absolutely disgraceful, but my sister was really nice about it, and for Christmas she bought me a copy of The Magic Position, knowing I'd like it. Understatement of the century. Nothing has ever really been the same.
Apart from rolling in glitter while absorbing Patrick's dulcet tones into my soul, I enjoy fencing epee and dyeing my fabulous faux-hawk unnatural shades of burgundy, purple, and orange. I take time out in my busy schedule to watch a lot of TV and knit ugly sweaters. It's a skill.
I play baritone ukulele and piano. I write and record songs (moodily) in my bedroom (/oubliette) using a somewhat unsuited podcasting microphone and stolen random household objects for percussion. The microphone is a recent and serious improvement. I used to name all my instruments after characters from Arthurian legend, but then I found an upright piano on Craigslist and named him Craig. So there's that tradition out the window.
I've poached info from these boards at times over the years but have never registered or interacted. You all seem like very nice people, though. I plan on attending Patrick's show at Café de la Danse in Paris in November. If you see me, say hi-- I'll be the short American one with eyes full of unshed tears of joy.
Thank you, and goodnight!
