I am actually quite embarrassed when I think about the fact that you guys over in Finland learn Swedish at school. We're not taught even one Finnish word here in Sweden. Apart from the obvious swearwords we pick up along the way. Such a powerful language, well suited for that purpose, though. I know I'm late, but welcome to the board! /t

Ooooh yes the swearwords.... But I know them in Norwegian as well XD. You won't hear me saying "merde" or "shit" at home....nope. XD I have Lasse Gjertsen to thank for that hehe.

Haha That's fine, Finnish is a difficult language. Cool, I used to listen to Nightwish too. I had no idea they were popular outside Finland. 2004 was their big breakthrough in Germany with Once. I know, I was hooked on them. (But then they threw Tarja out and Tuomas wrote lines like "6:30, winter morn" and I lost my interest...) I'm a week late to welcome you, sei, but I had exams as well and after that I failed to get drunk... Anyway, nice to meet you. And I so love this conversation. I understand your feelings about The Childcatcher, I couldn't listen to it for a long time because of the lyrics. But I've really grown to like it in a way. Hmm, speaking of verbs being all weird: Isn't it so that in German all the verbs are in the end of the sentence! Like: I there so I a new book go can buy. :---D Okay now some German speaker can correct me. My father was just explaining that to me the other day. I'd like to know German. :--I I there so I a new book go can buy? What are you trying to say? ;D I thought in Latin verbs are often (but not necessarily) at the end of the sentence. But in German? I don't think so. Well, being a native speaker I have no idea of German grammar so I looked it up in my grammar book from grade 6. In main-clauses it's usually like the English wordorder: subject, verb, object. But because many German verbs have prefixes, the prefix often is at the end of the sentence. And in sub-clauses the whole verb might be at the end. So yes, in a way you're right. Putting the words from your sentence in "correct German order" it would be something like: I go there so I a new book buy can. = Ich gehe dort hin, damit ich ein neues Buch kaufen kann. Now I feel horrible for putting English words in German wordorder... Swearwords in other languages are fun. Though I have to admit that I could rather tell you how I feel in Italian than curse in that language. Okay, I remember "merda" and the fake swearword "insalata mista" from a German movie. I know it only means "mixed salat", but "mista" resembles the German swearword "Mist" which is used like "crap". Dear, I'm rambling again... ;D

Sueme: Ah, thanks for correcting me. :--D My dad knows German but I guess I misunderstood his explanation or something.
And yes, Sorrow By Nature. I think it's because Finland was a part of Sweden once. But I wonder why we don't have to study Russian since Finland belonged to Russia after it belonged to Sweden. Hmm! I'm afraid I'm not good in history...
I was going to link that, glumbumble! :--D Hahaha, they make the Finnish swearword sound so pretty. But in my opinion, it is the most "hard" word since it has many, well, harsh consonants. ...if someone understands what I'm trying to say. Or then it's just because it's the one to which I'm accustomed.
I always curse in English. :--D Although I don't curse much.
This conversation just keeps on growing! Hooray!
By the way, sei, do you already know what to do with all the freedom? I don't! It's so weird that I don't have to study every day. But, I like it this way. 8--))

And yes, Sorrow By Nature. I think it's because Finland was a part of Sweden once. But I wonder why we don't have to study Russian since Finland belonged to Russia after it belonged to Sweden. Hmm! It's because of: - the history Swedish language has in Finland(higher education was in Swedish only for ages) - Swedish is the other official language of Finland - Due to it being official language, people using public services like health services and police, have a right to be served in Swedish. And thus basically if you ever apply to any sort of job including customer service in the public sector, you have to know some Swedish In practise... I've never faced a situation in Finland that would've required my Swedish skills. -.- Bristol huomenna, jee!

Ah yes, I know that. :--p I was just wondering why all those things happened and why we still have to learn it.
And yeah, I doubt if I'll ever really use Swedish.
Eikä, oot menossa Bristolin keikalle? Voi että oon kateellinen! :-o Kerro ihmeessä sitten, millainen se oli! Mä vielä odottelen, että Patrick tulis Suomeen...

Oh god, I haven't been here in a week and you've been spamming a lot! : O Sorry for my absence! Sorrow By Nature, thank you! C: It's nice to know that there are more Swedes here (technically I'm half Finnish and half Swedish, but I speak fluent Swedish). And yep, it's like Finnish exists for swearwords 'cause it's so powerful and sort of raw. But you know, it's different here in Finland because we have two official languages (Finnish and Swedish) here. : ) It's be just weird if you had to take mandatory Finnish courses in Sweden. : D Glumbumble, my god such a brilliant idea! : D I need to start swearing in a foreign language too! You have a brilliant mind, my friend. And I tend to say 'fan' too :--D but only when my Mom isn't present. Sueme, thank you too! C: Nice to meet you too! It's nice to be here at Wolfboard and just chat with you guys. I love this topic too! ♥ You had exams too? That's crappy. How'd they go? By the way, I totally agree with you on the new Nightwish, Tarja is in my opinion 'the' singer for Nightwish and the new singer just can't bring the same emotion to the songs. It's sad. : ( Illusion, yep 'perkele' is full of consonants and certain harshness. It's no pretty word, but it's not supposed to be either. I never use that one, i either swear in English or more oftenly, I use other Finnish swearwords. It's really good that you don't curse much since cursing is a nasty habit. I, on the other hand, curse a lot :--D. Yay! \o/ I shall give a virtual hug to this topic! I have no clue what I'm gonna do with the freedom! I might get a job this spring and then in July I'm gonna leave for Britain (today I'm gonna send in my applications for several jobs - and I'm really excited!). But right now I need to complete a few courses for school in order to graduate in June and then I have to study for my seven nasty entrance exams. So technically, I'm not free at all, but oh well at least I don't have to be at school anymore. C: And I can sleep in every morning - that's what I call a dream come true! What about you?

Well, I _should_ find a job and work in May but I'm not so sure if I'll get one since I have no experience and I haven't had any responses from the few places I've sent my application to... So I might end up sinking deep in to the sofa. That doesn't sound so bad, actually.
Now I'm just trying to relax and figure out what to do with the pre-tasks for the university and other schools. Whoops, I'm actually in quite a hurry since I have to send them soon! And there are so many of them! I have to photograph all the time. Like also when I'm sleeping.
But, as you said, at least I'm free to sleep as much as I want! :--D And I don't have to go anywhere or study anymore. It's weird not to have school anymore. I studied for 12 years and now... now what!
I really hope you'll get the job in Britain! It would be so smashing! Ohmygod 7 entrance exams! Phew! I wish you good luck with your studies!
Virtual hugs, yay! Then I'm going to virtual high five this. *high fives*

Oh you know, I sent some applications too but I didn't get the jobs : ( But I'm hoping to get a summer job (in June and July, before I leave) at the Jyväskylä City Library, but I can't be sure because like, all the kids in my area are applying for that spot. Oh well.. Yep, that doesn't sound like a bad option. Too bad I need to get a job before I leave... I need more money and I need more work experience than my two weeks at Muurame Golf track. :'D Urgh, that sounds really nasty. I have a friend who's applying for some art schools too and she has a lot of pre-tasks to complete. The deadline is a few weeks, I think. You gotta finish them all in time! Otherwise it'll be too late : O but I'm sure that you'll make it. Hey, wouldn't it be cool if you really could photograph while sleeping and film your dreams! And where this thought come from.. umm.. that's a good question. I know! It's so relaxing to just doze off during days and sleep as much as you want. Ooh, you're lucky. I have a few courses to complete, but I'm doing them independently at home. And I actually have only one full course to do, the others are almost ready. That's true, it feels so odd to be at home. It's like I'm on a vacation without being on one : D but it's not like I'm complaining. Yep, 12 years and then university or polytechnic. It does feel like a lot, but we've come through the major part. At least no junior high anymore! :'D Me too! Today I'm really gonna start applying and I'll send dozens of applications so that I'll surely get one job. I won't give up now. C: Yeah, 7... it's some kinda masochism if you ask me. Thank you! I wish you good luck with yours!

Exams were quite okay, sei. But now the real trouble begins, because I still haven't made up my mind about what comes next and time's running out... Good luck with your stuff everyone. (Yeah, I'm tired and not really capable of thinking right now, so this sentence is really vague. )

Time is indeed running out, at least in my case. I have to send two pre-tasks tomorrow and I don't even have enough good photographs to make this 4 photograph's collage. Nor do I have an inspiration. Whoops.
Why do I always do everything in the last moment? |:--I
I hope you'll figure out what to do next, sueme! I'm not either sure whether I will change my mind and study something else or not. We'll see! At least it's okay to change your mind, right? I try to comfort myself with that. :--D Do you have any ideas what you might be doing next? I think I've asked this before but my memory is truly terrible.

oh there's not only finnish in here so proper hi-back to you sei. it's a bit random but this talk about pre-tasks and photography reminded me of someone... don't tell me it's the one task where you have to take pictures of the process of drawing money from a machine and the other one with the portfolio about yourself?

Nno, I don't have such pre-tasks. :-p Well I do have portfolios, but not that money thing. What an odd and difficult task! I could never photograph it uniquely or in my style... Very difficult indeed! Although some of the tasks I have are not fun or easy either.

Oh no, Illusion! That's really bad. I still hope that you manage to complete the portfolio in time! Though I know how horrible it's to work without inspiration or good material. That's a common problem. I think I'm even worse: I always hand everything in late. Well, I don't think I can do that in uni so I gotta do something about it. Hello again, niwo! C: Yep, this thread is er mostly English with a bit of Finnish too.

actually my friend found the drawing money thing easier than the portfolio of herself using stuff that a graphic designer might use... or something along that... i dunno, but reading about such stuff i'm a tiny bit glad i chose boring stuff to study, where you just needed marks to get in, nothing of substance... good luck with getting into the university you want to! i'm usually not late with stuff, but last second, just in time delivery... yes that's me anyway, i'm starting to feel old now that you're just getting into university and i'm long done XD

Wrote a bit about Bristol patrickwolf.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=live&action=display&thread=5886 Or well. Mostly just photos. Went to the London gig aswell, and as for the gig itself I did prefer Bristol's small venue and setlist a lot more... also sucks I was stuck in the back of the hall in London because I had to arrive late after waiting for a friend for ages. People talking mid-song, playing with their smartphones and constant flow of people going to buy beer.. made me miss the front row big time. I kind of forgot about all those annoying things after the gig though, met Patrick. Finally after over six years. I won't go into details or I'll never shut up, but I did tell him all the best from Finnish fans and he said he loved Helsinki show and definitely should be returning.

Oh really? Whoop! I always find too strickt assignments very restrictive. But on the other hand it's more difficult to get an inspiration if you haven't been told what to do... Hmm! Okay well I'm not getting anywhere with this. :--D
Ah yes, I kind of hope I wouldn't have to do pre-tasks... But if I didn't have pre-tasks, I'd have entrance exams. And in a way this will help me understand what I'm going to study. I'm all vague today (tonight), it seems.
And thank you so much, niwo and sei! I'll make sure I will have more time with the other pre-tasks for the better, higher schools. :--D Oh and sei, it WOULD be amazing to be able to photograph your dreams! Or record them some how. I'd love to watch some of my dreams again.

Ohmygodohmygodohmygod, andy! You met him! And I wouldn't mind if you told more, hahah! It's so good to hear he will return here since I'm getting pretty anxious. Very anxious.
Ah yes, it's annoying how some people can ruin the whole show for you. I was at the National's gig just now and some guy came yelling that we should all sing along and then he accidentally hit me very hard on the head... Luckily the rest of the gig was awesome!
I hope your gig wasn't totally ruined! Luckily Bristol was better, then. :--p
Oh and that link doesn't seem to work. :--c
