so.. i am learning how to read tarot cards and i was wondering what others thought on the subject.
is it complete bollocks? is there some truth in it? have you ever had your cards read, what was it like etc?
personally, i love them. i have always been interested in divination and i learned palmistry (how to read palms) at a young age and i do it for friends at parties. it's really interesting and whether you believe in it or not, there's usually a few things that pop out of the reading that are undeniably true. so when the opportunity came for me to have my tarot cards read, i was really excited, and the reading was very apt for my situation and gave me a lot of hope for the future (which is always nice). the new friend i made gave me a book on tarot and i bought a deck, now i'm starting to give myself readings every so often to get a feel for the meanings. tonight i read my mum's and my friend's and they were accurate, so that was fun.
i'd love to do some readings for any of you if you were up for it. you don't have to have a specific question, you can just have a general reading. lemme know!

I wouldn't have replied to this thread at all and brought a downer to it - but since you asked, I'm just going to say that I think it's complete bollocks

I don't have too much extensive experience with that kind of stuff but I think it's really fascinating and fun. I have a tiny deck of tarot cards and have tried to do readings given the instructions in the booklet but I'm not sure if I actually do it right. And I think there's different ways to read tarot, am I right? Anyway even though I don't know what I'm doing I occasionally like to take them out and try to do readings, I don't considerate it necessarily "accurate" or all-telling but more of a means to get you thinking about your current situations and life and hopefully get you thinking positively about the future. At least from my experience that's what I get out of them. Sometimes I use them to make up crazy things with and get a laugh with friends too though. Haha I would totally love to have a reading done from you though! Because you probably know what you're doing more than I do in terms of actual reading haha.

I love tarot cards. I don't particularly see them as completely true or anything, but I think they can be 'enlightening', even if it's just making you realise something you already knew. Apart from that I think they're just an interesting thing to do. My friend got me a tarot deck for christmas and I was attempting to do a reading for a friend today using the little instructions that came with it, but they aren't very detailed and I'm completely confused about the reverse of the cards and such. {For example, one card could be read as triumph, or defeat on the reverse. Huh?} So, I'm hoping to get a more detailed book to help me at some point.

a more detailed book would be better. i threw away the instructions and box i got with my cards the more you read and the more you practice with readings and knowing the meanings of cards, the easier it gets. and a lot of people think a reversed card (one that's drawn upside down) is the opposite but it's not, it can have a completely different meaning.

I have a pack I found in my house a few years ago and sometimes do readings for myself/others but only by using the booklet - a year ago I knew the cards quite well but not so much anymore.
I've had my cards properly done once, because obviously I find it really interesting, but the woman was a bit patronising and got some stuff wrong and just didn't really suit me very well. Plus I was with my cynical cousin, so she pointed out all the flaws, haha.
Id love to have a palm reading done though!

I had my palm read by a psychic at a party once but she was a fake. I'd like to have a reading done again since it's all very fascinating to me. I find tarot really interesting, as well. I don't know what truth it holds but it is intriguing and I'd want to have my cards read someday.

Yeah they are fun. But I would never believe what they would say, cos like horoscopes they sometimes make too much of a sweeping statement.
