So I just watched the new (?) Louis Theroux documentary and I liked it a lot. I think he has been a bit up and down at times, finding it hard to connect with people but I actually felt like he made all the people, however corrupt, human, as they actually are - I mean all of these people are just trying to survive, as much as I don't agree with their system.
Did anyone else watch it? It opened me eyes a lot as I know nothing about Lagos to be honest and I thought there were a lot of sad and struggling people, and no one really has a clue how to make things better.
Anyway, short post, I don't really have time but I thought I'd start a discussion while it's fresh in my head.

I like Louis Theroux! I've seen his documentary about Brothels and the one about Westboro Baptist Church, and they were so good that I might re-watch them, actually. I really like his documentary style. I'm looking at the wiki page for his BBC2 specials now, and I might give the paedophiles one a watch, as well as this Lagos one if you reccomend it

I think I've seen them all! The paedophiles one is quite frustrating actually, it feels really unresolved (understandably) but it felt a bit cryptic and I guess he found it very hard to pry into the lives of those people.
The pornography one is actually really interesting and good for a laugh. Watch the cosmetic surgery one, to watch him get liposuction. I love that he immerses himself into situations and because he comes across as a 'normal guy' even though he's really intelligent, people aren't intimidated by him and I think that's why he manages to interact with people so well. He's got balls to be so fearless at times. Oh Louis!

Agreed about the normalcy thing, Jade, people just seem to trust him straight away! I really liked the one about crystal meth he did, and I watched one about a prison as well. He's quite effortless in what he does, and he often has a very objective or at least FAIR viewpoint. Plus he's pretty easy on the eye
