So, do you even get this show in the UK? I don't know. BUT if you do then YAY, because it is awesome. And if you don't, then that's what the internet is for, sillies! Get with it!
Basically, it's a brilliant showcase of Toni Collette's awesomeness. But really where the show shines is in its supporting players.
I've been forcing my DVDs of series one on the boyfriend for the past few nights. He's very much a fan, now.
Series 2 is rocking as well. But does anyone have a clue where the Princess Valhalla Hawkwind story is going? I don't. I'm enjoying it, but Kate seems to be floundering again... Oh well.
Talk about it. NOW.

I tweeted these exact same sentiments last night... I love it. I love Kate. 'Who the fuck is this?', I don't think I've ever laughed so much at so little. I love how resigned she is. Brilliant show. Love it. Toni Collette is marvellous - that last episode, brilliant, especially when she was Shoshana, cycling through all the alters, and nice to see Gimme and Alice this series - and the supporting cast... I can't praise it enough. And if I could do a little heart, I'd do, like, a bunch of hearts and then I'd write 'Marshall' and then I'd do another bunch of hearts. Although this series needs more of Max's bum. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Go Sibz, go! Now Michael, that's just not fair. ALL series need more of Max's bum. US of T is not unique in this way. I have stupidly not watched this weeks episode yet... I guess now I've started a thread for it, I'll have to keep up! My bad... Be right back, all.

you know what i love about this show? all the characters are real people. and it's so nice to see a gay character who isn't THE GAY CHARACTER and there doesn't have to be drama or conversation about how he's gay, he just... is. same way he dresses, and the music he likes, those aren't stereotypical teenage things, but they're not discussed, because it's irrelevant.

So glad you're enjoying it, Sibz!
I agree about Marshall's character. His gayness is refreshingly incidental, which is something that's rarely achieved on TV (witness: Glee. Possibly the most contrived coming-out story in television history. Still love the show though.) And he's just so damn awesome. I want to be his friend.
Kate, too, is absolutely lovely. I just wish they'd figure out what to actually do with her. Her storylines are fun, but never as substantial as the others, IMO.
I suppose Max may be a bit too Hi-I'm-You're-Dream-Husband, which Diablo Cody has herself admitted. But it works for me, I still feel like there's something to him, and that I haven't seen him in 100 other small-screen incarnations.
Keep watching! The show's really coming into its own this season.

This is my favourite show airing right now. I've been following it for only a few weeks and managed to watch the first season in one day. Whoops.
I have nothing of real value to comment about this show, but I am glad some of ya'll are enjoying it as well.

Glee. Possibly the most contrived coming-out story in television history. Still love the show though. Hmm. Agreed. I think. But then, part of the point of Glee is that it takes archetypical characters - the jock, the cheerleader, the sassy minority sidekick (RACIST! - Ed), the Jewish princess - and accentuates them to the point of charicature. And then it starts turning them around... But the way they've handled Kurt's sexuality has been a bit... off. I like the Moral of the Week format, and that his Dad was like, 'HA! I know, faggot', but... Actually, I think I liked it. But then I think I use 'the show is a High School cartoon, it's supposed to paint with broad strokes' as an excuse for gigantic plot holes/Too Stupid to Live characters. Can't forgive that bit where Mercedes wanted Kurt's big gay ass, though. No way a girl that, ahem, streetwise wouldn't know. Oh! Right! United States of Tara! Continues to be brilliant. Marshall's story in series two is an odd one. I like it. Although I couldn't cope with seeing him being... backstage in the theatre... I love 'You make being gay something no one would ever want to be'. Such an anvil that needed dropping. Cheerio, Michael. xxx

I've heard about this show (mostly because of the name... ) but haven't check it out. I did it tonight and it seems great! I like Toni Colette (hmm 'Little Miss Sunshine' , i didn't know she played in that show Actually here in france the show's broadcasted in one channel, that i haven't... i think it's the only one which broadcasts it. So i'll try to see it online.

Yay tara! Hope you do keep watching it. I didn't get the channel it aired on in Canada, and I don't even have a TV here... So to the internet it goes, for me. Re: Glee. I get that the tone of Glee is different. And I get the playing with stereotypes. But even if the subject matter sticks to the relatively cartoon-y, having a young guy who shows absolutely no signs of shame over who he is suddenly having coming-out angst for an episode... It just doesn't fly. That episode irritates me. I love Marshall's storyline this series too! But I don't know if Marshall can really do any wrong in my eyes at this point. And that tornado episode = more Emmy's for Toni. kthxbye

And that tornado episode = more Emmy's for Toni. kthxbye Should do, but I don't know if they're being a bit too spooky this series for the old Emmy's. Something funny going on with Suicide House... Cheerio, Michael. xxx

Whooaaaaa shit just got real at the Gregson house!
Kate's a smart girl, so I'm not sure I really buy her "Ohhh I had NO IDEA what I was doing was a sexual thing!" that's coming... We'll see. But I concede that the look on her face as he said "I'm gonna come" was a moment. That one got me.
Also, the entire "sit on a cake/balloon" bit was kind of a win. I love that this show went there. I love it.
And Egyptian-Guy-Who's-Name-I-Can't-Remember must be really fucking unhappy in his life if he's suddenly taken to hanging out with 15 year olds. Really? We'll see where that one goes.
AND Charmaine's fiance is fucking insane for going with her plea. I'm sorry, but no. Poor Neil!
The Tara/Max storyline was really involving this ep. I get where both of them are coming from... Hard.
I hate that I have to wait a week! Yargh!
