...or do you get running narratives? When in that weird stated when I'm not exactly awake, but not exactly asleep either, I tend to dream stories that continue from the last one -often jumping back a bit. Because I'm kind of awake a bit, my mind is still consciously shaping the events. I often try to get to that state when I'm planning stuff for my writing; a lot of it will be weird dream stuff, but some of it ends up being used. I tend to dream my dialogue.

I used to get a sort of 'series' in my dreams. Like a running plot line that expanded over each night. Then I got a recurring dream for about 6 months. And now I don't dream, except for London... Meh. xox gb

I've never had dreams that cohere in storylines. I just have dreams in which I have memories of previous happenings, but something completely new to me when I wake up. I'm guessing that's common.

i used to get lots of narratives last year. when i was little i had a recurring dream about dinosaurs, but now my dreams are all about the same people and are generally surreal yet believable

I never have recurring story lines, but I always have recurring dream places. It's like there's a city in my head and I really enjoy it.

When I was a child I had so many sequels to this one dream about a weird, tropical water paradise with strange fantasy creatures like mermaids, that I started telling relatives we had been there on a holiday

I never have recurring story lines, but I always have recurring dream places. It's like there's a city in my head and I really enjoy it. i had that! that 'place' hasn't sprang into my mind in years though. i don't really remember my dreams, and when they do they're usually just a surreal take on the previous day's events. how dull.
