My mates took me to see The 39 Steps yesterday as I've been saying for ages how I haven't seen a play in years. It was funny, in a nice, easy way: not too taxing. Anyone else been recently?

Oh my stars, my mother and I used to have season tickets to our local professional theater (Center Stage in Baltimore, I highly recommend it). I haen't seen a play in ages because of school. I think the last one I attended was a series of kyogen plays put on by my school. It was actually rather fantastic because these students had gone to Japan and had a sensei and everything. Also, I sewed most of the costumes haha.
In short, I miss professional theater.

Oh but I do love something taxing, once in a while. Last play I saw was yonks ago...Some trace of her at the National Theatre in August. www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/sometraceIt was brilliant- they were filming themselves acting whilst projecting the film (you can watch it on the website) up on a screen. It was more than a play- it was like a play of a film and your eyes didn't know where to look at times. As for the plot/ acting. Although I love The Idiot I wasn't sure if it could make a good play. I was pleasantly surprised that it did make a good play and that the actors, particularly Ben Whishaw, were everything they had to be and more. I love actors |

I went to see some of my coursemates perform an adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew in the foyer of The Centre for Languages and Literature here in Lund, it was pretty damn neat. Just like I hoped they used most of the stairs and balconies there, as well as the reception desk. Good stuff.

Last play I "saw" I was in, a 7:84 piece called The Cheviot, The Stag And The Black Black Oil. It was adapted and put on a by a sort of impromtu theatre group formed by some old college friends of mine.

i had to go see Not Yet by someone i cant remember and it. was. crap. it was really choreographed so i give credit to the actors and there was a moral underlying it. but it was shit. i didnt enjoy it at all and i cant believe we have to study this playwrite for our theatre in education module this semester.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change
It was a kind of terrible musical about relationships. It was a medley of shit the whole time that often played with stereotypes to the point it got annoying. The whole time all of the elderly -- which is what the audience was comprised of -- were laughing and laughing. The only parts I liked were the more intense moments.
I'm going to make my next viewing a much better one. Yeah.

Yeah... It was kind of like Dr Who, they sort of regenerated. haha. In the first series, or maybe more than that, there was an older guy if memory serves me right, and Sophie was Blonde, then the Brian and Sophie towards who stayed to the end came in after them.
And i agree, the kids were not as good when they changed. *sighs*

Last night went to see Waiting For Godot with (Sir) Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. Absolutely brilliant. The other two actors were less good, and there was a slightly embarrassing moment when my dad fell asleep, but other than that it was fantastic.
Best thing I've seen since Matthew Bourne's production of Dorian Gray. Anyone else catch that?

It consisted of four people trying to re-create Andy Warholes film 'FUCKING fdfghjkKITCHEn' (made in 1965) and discussing 1965 topics along the way. How I've written that seems to dull it down dreadfully. I laughed all the way through, and it isn't over until all the actors had been replaced be audience members being told what to do over headsets by the original cast. They chose these audience members very well!
