Isn't it good?
No, seriously. I honestly can't tell.
But look at the arse on Midshipman Frame!

I'm one if the few people -if you read the SFX thread- who enjoyed the pilot more. Some stuff was done way better in the episode last week, and I'm still excited about the series in general, but I think a lot of the exposition would have been more interesting if we learned it bit-by-bit over the six episodes, rather than have long conversations and flashbacks. The ideas are still my cup of tea, completely, but I think the writing was a bit snappier in the pilot and the whole thing didn't seem to be trying as hard as it is now. That said, it's only been the one episode so maybe it will pick up now the bulk of the exposition is out of the way.

I agree with Josh. It is. INCREDIBLE.
Best bit this week: George the obscene language teacher. "Shut, the, fuck, up!"

I really wish I had been wise to this on the first series. I've realised that it's much easier to write a lot about a show like Skins, that has quite a lot that's wrong with it than it is something like Being Human. Cos really everything about it, is just really really good. On paper in a world of True Blood, Buffy and Twilight it's not the most original or unique premise in the world (vampire, werewolf and ghost try to live among human society) but the writing, the acting, the direction.. it's just all so spot on. I love shows that mix up the tone between light and heavy and this does that masterfully.

I have been watching this since the beginning and I'm never sure how I feel about it. I think i like it though, despite it often having faults. This week's episode was the best one this series, I think! Herrick is a brilliant character, as was 60s Love Interest. I know TV is good via two indicators: a) crying or b) shouting at the screen. Today I shouted at the screen, so top marks!

60s girl was proper lush, like.
I like that there was a little vampire/paedophile allegory in there as well. Good episode says I. (yes, I only just got around to seeing it)

ZOMG I LOVED THE 60s GIRL. "I should be married to David Bowie." She gets that line AND gets to have sex with Mitchell AND gets to wear that awesome outfit, I WAS BORN TO PLAY THAT PART.

Ha, the "skinny jeans" banter in the last episode made me drop a lol bomb almost as much as the "Real Hustle" stuff earlier in the series.
I fancy Annie. I also feel Ivan would make a good "old school" master in Doctor Who and I'm wondering how Sketch from Skins died?

OH MY GOD IVAN CANNOT BE DEAD He's delicious and by far my favourite non-lead character there ever has been, I LOVE HIM. The skinny jeans thing was hilarious. When Sketch from Skins showed up I was like NO ANNIE SHE GONNA STALK YOU because she sounded/looked exactly the same. I don't know what I was expecting but it made me think she doesn't have much of a range as a performer...but I guess people who didn't see her in Skins wouldn't think so. Being Human is easily the best thing on TV. DEFINITELY. I had a dream about it the other night. That I missed an episode and my friends were telling me it was an episode where Mitchell turned out to be gay and I'd never ever get to see it. I think it's my mind telling me that I'm too much of a fangirl. (mentally. I don't carry it in to the real world. Not even the interwebz.)

AGH!
How far into Series 2 are you guys at the moment? I watched series 1 and loved it but knew series 2 wouldn't be for a while so I sort of let it be... How many episodes in are they? I'm not sure if I'll just wait for them all to air before I watch them via piracy (arrrrr!), as I think having to wait a week between episodes might drive me batshit psycho.

OMG, SO SO AMAZING LAST NIGHT.
I can't believe how far they took Mitchell's turn to the darkside. Brave. Hard to see how they'll make him sympathatic after that. I love the ambiguity now with Kemp and Jagget as "villians" it's hard from a viewers pespective to not think that Kemp has a point about vampires, and seeing a kinder side to what I thought was just going to be yer typical evil religious guy.
Oh god, it's just so good. I felt for George so much, I always do.. the whole "normal life is for other people" thing, it works as such a good metaphor for so many real life things.

Mithcell's 'baddie'ness is such a shocker! I think changing him this late on in the series is either making way for a supremely epic finale or a third series. I also like the 'do I hate them or not' thinking you have to do with the 'evil' professors, it's a bit more of a moral issue now, which is a good twist on things. George's transformation at the parents evening thing was a bit cringe-ly done but made you feel even more for him as a viewer, agreed Josh!
Annie's storyline this week was a bit vague, I loved her psychic thing last week but this week it all just felt like it was building up to next week. Excited for the finale!

The thing I really like about George is they write emotional weaknesses and vulnerabilities into his character you rarely see in male fictional characters.. but of course you often see in real males.
I found it quite shocking that Annie wanted to pass over, perhaps due to feeling of closure after he encounter with her Mum last week? Annie is adorable, one of the most cuddle-able TV characters I've come across.
Think there's been some clever misdirection with Kemp's character he looks and acts like your typical villain but he's actually of the good intentioned, misguided breed of baddies. Who are always the best kind. Like Magneto.
I like the fact you can make an actually very strong moral case for what he's doing, he's a total failtard at exorcism though. I liked that, nice touch.
